  1. Glad you validated use of tough and aid self as worked well for me.  Dominate is my ST bread and butter I don’t see anything outdoing it with procs and it also is at range which means can always use it when ready.  I do have a bit of St hole in my build that I have to fill with an AoE but I’m fine with it.  Maybe I could drop weave for another ST attack.  Not a bad idea but then need free up a few more slots as well.   You make a good point Def is already super high.

Since some people asked, I can definitely elaborate on my choices here. Not going to get into the secondary part, just because I feel like that's not very controversial. Again, this is from pure personal experience with these sets. Doms and Controllers are my favorite AT in the game. If there were more secondaries to choose from, I'd most likely exclusively play them. Or if more of the APPs were similar to Psi Mastery (adding some kinda buff).

Fire (D- /  E+): I don't think the set has a good synergy with any of the secondaries like it does on a controller. The pets die really fast, smoke & bonfire don't benefit from domination. Depending on how you play a Dominator, you might be locking things down in a scatter formation so Hot Feet won't be super beneficial.

Electric (C / C- / D+): Jolting chain is incredibly weak, conductive aura is fine but it doesn't seem like a very strong +regen/+recov power. Synaptic overload is a cool contagious power, but I'd rather it was more similar to World of Confusion or hit everything at once. It also doesn't use domination (lack of domination use is a big factor in why I put sets where they are). Overall the damage is very weak and the animations are super long. Shorten the animation times and it'd be fairly strong. Static Field is arguably one of the best powers in a control set. The pets also benefit way more from controller buff sets, similar to fire.

Gravity (B- / C+ / C-) This was a controversial one, and I probably should've put it at B instead of C. I love gravity on a controller. The overhaul on it made it much more effective. The pet is the best pet for a control set. On a dominator, I find it a little more clunky. Dimension shift is a good mitigation tool, but there are so many powers that don't benefit from Domination. And if you take those powers and your hard hitting ranged powers from the secondary, you're sacrificing a lot for not many benefits (it's easier to get better recharge with control powers than the actual damage powers like propel/lift). The animations are also kinda long, even if they did speed up propel.

Darkness (B): A very good control set. Like oedipus said, it's similar to Mind Control and does more damage. Fearsome Stare is a strong soft hold, same with heart of darkness doing the disorient. Haunt is a great extra damage, and the Umbral Dog does additional CC. It's a contender for one of the better pets for a control set. If Shadow Field wasn't a target location AOE, it'd be A Tier imo. Or if Living Shadows wasn't a cone (I hate cones personally).

Ice (B- / C+): This and Gravity should've been together in the same tier. I just made an Ice/Martial build for someone and it was really, really good (maybe credit to martial). With the change to immobilizes now being affected with knock downs, it made the set really strong with damage mitigation. Arctic Air is a PBAOE toggle, so at high level (where exp gain doesn't matter), you have another damage mitigation tool. Jack Frost sucks. The sleep is kinda dumb (every sleep should just be Static Field from elec).

Earth (A): The pet sucks. The powers animate very fast. You do -def so you can hit everything, and with Earthquake you can add an Achilles' Heel -res. It has hard mezzes like disorient and holds that are up frequently. If it had one less location AOE, it'd honestly be S Tier. Make quicksand into a drop-at-feet power and it'd be fine based on it's recharge.

Mind (S / A+): It doesn't have a pet, which is good. The whole set is control on roids. You get access to basically every type of mez except disorient. Almost everything benefits from domination.

Plant (S / A+): You get a buff power (spirit tree), carrion creepers are great, the confuse is a wide cone. Pair it with something high in AOE (like Martial) and you got a great AOE machine.

Personal opinion: Give all of the pets some higher base resistance/hp. Gravity's pet is already hands down the best pet in a control set for a reason. If others replicated it, it'd be perfect.

With the change in procs it appears the minus res no longer works in quake as it’s like a rain now.  However FF goes off almost every time giving great plus recharge.  You can also proc out Vg for damage which will helps this set out a lot when soloing.

You can proc out JT for damage turns it into a nice ST hitter.

For BF as other have said change to KB to KD is a game changer.  Adds a lot of soft control and damage to.

  3. Are we talking solo or for teams.

If its for solo the tiers here seem way out of wack to me and some sets can become

    proc monsters now to.

i have played most dom primaries to at least Vet level 20 so I hope I have a decently informed opion.

    fastest:

    firE

    safest:

earth if you proc it right, plant on par.

    most well rounded:

    plant

    way better than people think:

electric and pros turn jolting chain into a really good single target attack.

    Secondaries:

    fastest:

Psy-drain psy is why keeps you alive and end bar charged.

    best:

    psy

    good damage:

fire, earth with procs only, martial

To be fair, I don’t think the game was designed for anyone to be able to solo AVs, power creep just made it possible for some builds

It’s hard to solo AVs for sure really hard for a dom as they don’t have a way for someone else to take the argo.  My illusion rad controller is best I have for it.  Mostly because PA holds the Argo.

On Ebs eating insp like others say if you need to.

I proc out my single target holds for damage now so my doms hit pretty hard which helps on EBs to.

Do you find youre giving up survivability for proc slotted attacks or do u even notice much? What level setting do you typcally run, solo? I ask cause i created a fort with the intention of psi attacks but found in pines my builds coming out "better" using full set bonuses. Im currently running the melee chain (and PW of course) with dom as a hold, but so badly want more psi.

Im easily running +4/x4 but can go x8 much slower cause of bosses and the occasional death but so SO much fun when i make it through... Even with the melee. ...i found slotting def, rch, hp, and res made the build feel pretty tanky at half health with the scaling resist...

I guess I'm wide eyed for more details is all 0.0. Please and thank you 💜

You will get better bonuses for sure not using procs.  Im trading off bonuses for more damage.

I run +4/8 normally.  With level shift its really plus 3.   I used to use a set bonus build and find the extra damage helped a lot.  Tough, weave and aid self also make a difference.

Lot of ways to make a build for sure what makes game interesting.  A fort with out procs to me does not hit hard enough to take anything out, felt like it took an eon anyway.

One shot minions on what difficulty?  +4?  +1?  It makes a difference.

+4 only if you got a plus 3 level shit in incarnate and then maybe.  A snipe can probably do a plus 2 if you get lucky with the procs.  Or if you have a nice damage boost going.

I just PLd a Fort and just got to 50 and started playing it.  For Dominate I went with

    Glad Jav Acc/Dmg

    Glad Jav proc

    Apoc Dmg

    Apoc proc

    Unbreakable Constraint proc

    GW proc

OMG, it's not rare for this to one-shot minions.  I need to re-think my ST hold in all my trollers/doms now.

Holds with procs are now the ST damage kings along with snipe.  I play several corr and defenders and procs have total changed the game for them.  Dip into the epic pool for dominate on those ATs and it hits like a mac truck.  Try the dominator or controller jolting chain or whatever its called in the electric primary it hits for insane damage.

Forts are a good proc build as well.   Forget the melee attacks waste of time dominate will hit much harder and you can do it safely from range.      The build above in Aneas posts is mine.  I need to make some changes to it as I overslotted some defensive things, etc.  But overall it plays pretty well as is.  I have an old version of mids so its not exact.

If you like proc monsters a storm/water defender is pretty dam good and pretty much a tank to.  Also did a proc'd out electric/shield stalker and its a beast.

  7. What are you trying for with this build you won’t kill anything and will likely faceplate like crazy if you try to solo plus 4s.

Forts are now much better due to proc changes.

Procs go into Domiate, TK blast, wail, and the tornado that does KB.  Forget mental blast and scream they suck.  I also think the AOE hold is worthless to.

Go with elec pool and take AoE immobilize and proc it out to.  Ball lighting can use 5 posi and another damage proc.

Personally I like tough, weave and aid self.  You need them for when the lucky hits get through.  Preventative medicine proc is your friend.  I 6 slot aid self with the set.

I used to use something similar to your build and found it frustrating to solo.  Now I feel like a beast.  I been tinkering with proc monsters I have like 10 level 50s and find the fort the most fun and one of the most powerful to.

  8. Have you tried Dominate with 4 procs, damage IO and a hami damage/accuracy. To me it’s by far the hardest single target you can get.

I have zero melee attacks on fort and went proc route.  I fit in tough, weave and aid self because a plus four boss can nearly one shot you.   Some sacrifices had to be made mostly in my ST chain.  Only use dominate and Tk blast so have to use AOE to round out which isn’t ideal but i prefer to live so can kill.
