choicetosink Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 I really hope this is the right place to post this, whenever I play the game, it eventually just freezes up randomly and I have to close out the game via task manager and restart it. Sometimes it happens within minutes of logging on, sometimes it doesn't happen for hours. It's very irritating, whenever this happens, the task manager tells me it's "Not responding." I'm not really tech savvy and don't know a whole lot about computers and files and stuff so I have no idea what to do. Is anyone able to help?
Retired Game Master GM Tock Posted February 9, 2020 Retired Game Master Posted February 9, 2020 We can help. What kind of computer are you running it with? Windows, Mac? You can find out by pressing WIN+BREAK. A window will appear telling you this: You can also click on Device Manager on the lefthand side and open the entry for Display adapters: Any lines that start with ATI, Intel or NVidia is helpful. If you're on a Mac, you can click on the Apple Menu and choose "About This Mac" for the same info.

Retired Game Master GM Tock Posted February 10, 2020 Retired Game Master Posted February 10, 2020 (edited) Excellent! From that graphic card, I can tell you're using a laptop. (AMD Llano Integrated Graphics - AMD A6 sticker might be on the palmrest. Neat trick, eh?) Here's a few things to try! Windows 8/8.1/10 -- Dang it, you even told me Windows 7! LOL WINDOWS 7! Click on Start, then type "msconfig" and press enter. Open the "Startup" tab. You can disable any app in this list to prevent it from starting with Windows when you log in. While none of the apps will prevent Windows from starting, pay close attention to the name. If it's something you KNOW you use, or something hardware related, leave it alone. Everything else, turn it off. Secondly, make sure your drivers are up-to-date. Use this page to find them: https://www.amd.com/en/support Concerning the age of the laptop chipset, the last drivers are going to be released from 2015 or 2016. This is normal. It's also possible you already have the latest ones installed. Finally, laptops must be plugged in to game. Make sure the DC Power Brick is plugged into the wall, and the Power setting (battery) is not in Energy Saver mode. This makes sure the processor is turned up to regular speed instead of low-power mode which does terrible with games. Give these three tips a try, and let us know if it gets any better. If not, there's something else we can do. Edited February 10, 2020 by GM_Tahquitz Not Windows 10. Corrected.

microc Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 also update your anti virus it may because it old thinking the game a virus and locking or stopping the game. if your laptop newish see if there a power setting for the video or whole system. sometime you have to put these new laptop into performace mode and on ac power to fully use the gaming gpu. one thing with laptops is the video cards dont have there own video ram on most of the entry level units they share system ram. see the amount of ram that installed and check to see what used before you game. you may have to turn stuff off that running in the background or use cruical memory advisior online see if you can add more ram. if the laptop a few years old use a hard drisk tester check your drives smart health for warnings and use a mem test program make sure your ram is fine.
EmmySky Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 (edited) I also have a Radeon and while windows told me 'sure your drivers are all up to date' that was a LIE! I suggest visiting the Radeon website and manually updating to newest drivers as windows is not above lying to us about what is or is not updated. 😀 Edit: sorry Tahquitz I didn't read all your tips...didnt mean to reiterate...although it does bare repeating 😝 Edited February 10, 2020 by EmmySky 1
