I just down a fresh install of Island Rum build 021820201 and am running mac osx High Sierra 10.13.6

in the options I have both internal path to application and wine selected

the manifest is http://patch.savecoh.com/manifest.xml

The problem I have is it says ready to play and I click play.  It then says Launching for a few seconds and then boom back to ready to play.

Anyone have any ideas?

I’m having a similar issue. I was able to play yesterday for the first time but when I went to get back on it’s not longer loading. The blue loading banner appears but the game never launches.

If you open a command prompt (Terminal.app) and type

tail -F ~/Library/Logs/Time\ Sync/Island\ Rum/Player.log

tail -F ~/Library/Logs/Time\ Sync/Island\ Rum/Player.log

before starting Island Rum and clicking play, you should see what error it is failing with, can you post that here and we can see if we can help ...

ok, looks like the log location may have changed, will see if I can find where they are now

Try ~/Library/Logs/Powermad\ Software/Island\ Rum/Player.log

(commands you can use with that are view - opens file in r/o vi editor; cat - dumps file to console; tail - sends end of file to console as it is written)

personally I prefer tail, as it shows what is happening as you launch, but view may be easier to inspect, its up to you, or just chose the tool you prefer.

Ok, if you're not used to running command line stuff, simplest thing is

Finder -> Go -> Go To Folder, this will popup a box asking you to type in a path. Type (or copy)

~/Library/Logs/Powermad Software/Island Rum

and click Go, this will open a Finder window at that path, and should show you two files (Player.log and Player-prev.log)

right click on Player.log and Open With -> Text Edit, then scroll all the way down to the bottom

you should now see some errors (or if its working correctly it will say "starting game")

Hope that is understandable and workable (its too easy on my part to assume you just "know" what you need to do)

I am having this same issue.  Using a Mac running Catalina and the Catalina specific Island Rum.  Fresh download of IR and COH game files after updating to Catalina.

I don't know what any of that means, so I would need very simplified instructions to help me solve this issue!  Thanks in advance.

So not seen that error about FreeType fonts before myself, but from checking the internet it may not be an issue (just a generic warning message), it seems the actual issue is the "winspool.drv" failed to initialize, aborting bit (possibly caused by the warnings above, but probably not).

It seem most likely that you need to reset your wine prefix since updating to catalina, so I'd start by deleting it (Island Rum will recreate it when starting again)

rm -r ~/.privatewine

Ok, copy/pasted the code you had at the end of your post into my terminal.  No change.  I tried updating XQuartz, used Homebrew to install Freetype, used Homebrew to install wine-devel, erased all my CoH files and Island Brew, restarted and redownloaded everything.  Still get the green checkmark and then right back to Ready to Play.  Below is the latest Island Rum log:

--------------------------------------------------------

(EDIT: Minor quibble for style points.  I "Spoiler'd" the output of your log, the content isn't lost.  You can also upload a text file in the future.  --GM Tahquitz)

Thanks for any help you can offer!

No solution as of now, still kinda just trying different things. But if I am being honest im working on getting a windows computer and just giving up on Mac.

I had an issue with IslandRum changing the first line of /Applications/coh/islandrum.sh adding a line of garbled characters before the line the file should start with.

1) Remove everything before #!/bin/sh

2) Make the file read-only so IslandRum cannot touch it any more.

This solved things for me.

I am having the same issue. Now when it tries to reinstall it it it just gets stuck on Downloading File bin.pigg and runs through instaslling it endlessly without error. It just never stops though it shows completing and then installing it again, over and over.
