Dark Armor questions.

So I am thinking of trying out Dark Armor. I currently have a Rad Melee/Bio Armor Brute that is pretty tough so I am familiar with how to protect a team through taunting, holding aggro etc.

 

I am looking for a very survivable toon. Is DA one of the top choices? Is DM a good melee set to go with DA? I haven't tried either and haven't played a Tank since 2007 when I had the old Ice Patch/Burn combo.

 

And how much more survivable is a Tank over a Brute using the same sets? Being able to do some damage from time to time is also fun 😉

Tanks have a lot more survivability pre IO sets, post sets, you can pretty much even them out.

 

I like DA, but it's a bit of an end hog.  I like DA/SM for Oppressive Gloom + Fault for a perma mag-4 stun + a mag 4 hold.

 

I don't really know anything about DM, but I can say it shores up your endurance problems with Dark Consumption.  it's also more of a ST set than others, only having Shadow Maul for real damage (though the recent buff should be interesting)
