Are you using Island Rum (select correct one based on your OS version) and have you moved it from Downloads to Applications? Secondly, some of the instructions are out of date, you don't need to do anything with Wine as Island Rum will handle all of that for you. Johnny Dynamo Posted May 20, 2020 Share Posted May 20, 2020 I'm having the same challenge. I'm using Island Rum, and I did (finally) successfully move Island Rum into the Applications folder. Island Rum is launched and says "Ready To Play" with a filled blue progress line and a blue arrow to the bottom right. It shows in small print "Catalina Version 040520202" above that arrow. When I click the arrow, a green check mark appears and it says "Launching Homecoming (64-bit)" above the blue progress line. That lasts about 10 seconds and then nothing happens and it reverts back to ready "Ready To Play". I've never gamed on my MacBook and relatively new to this (Windows user for years). I'm using macOS Catalina 10.15.4. Anyone have any useful suggestions to share? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ernesto Posted May 20, 2020 Share Posted May 20, 2020 So it looks like Island Rum has successfully downloaded the game, etc but something is going wrong when it tries to launch City of Heroes Go to Finder, in the menu choose Go -> Go To Folder and paste "~/Library/Logs/Powermad Software/Island Rum/" in the box that pops up, in there you should see a file called "Player.log", open it in a text editor and have a look at what it says, especially towards the end. RogerWilco Posted May 27, 2020 Share Posted May 27, 2020 I got my IslandRum fixed by editing /Applications/coh/islandrum.sh There were garbled characters in the first line. I removed those, so the file starts with #/bin/sh as it should. Then made the file read-only to prevent IslandRum from overwriting it again. Then I could start the game. Your mileage might vary, as I have a somewhat non-standard setup, but this fixed it for me. The adventurous Space Janitor reporting for duty.
