I'm looking for a good pistol / device build. I've never been good with building a char from the ground up sadly and would really like to have some lay out while leveling! Thanks for the help.

I can give it a whirl but I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. I think this looks like it would have the DPS and Defenses, but I have no idea what I'm doing with enhancements!

From what I understand, field operative and stamina stack so you may not need as many. I currently run two end mods in both at level 32 and I'm not running into many issues short of teams that tend to run a super rapid pace.

You have field operative taken at 20. Stick a second slot in this sooner (21 if you can). Also, do not put more than three of the same enhancement into something. ED makes it so you get a reduction of efficiency after three of the same. For instance, in this set up, the first two enhancements (if SOs) will get you 33%, the third is 27.x%, and fourth onward is a MASSIVE 5% boost. Those last three slots are a waste that you can place in any other power.

Beyond that, I'm still unsure of how to slot field operative since it's change from cloaking device.

At 38 you've taken hasten. I recommend that much earlier in the build(i took it at 4 and my third attack at 8). I only have it two slotted, but that's because I can't remember if a third slot is worth it or not =/ Put the other two somewhere else since permahasten hasn't worked since ED.

Swap ammo has no slots. Is this on purpose? I don't know cause I've never played pistol.

I also don't know how effective the fighting pool is on blasters. I've never taken it because I never had the powers to spare to get to the last two things.

Fitness is now given to every toon. I don't think this is represented in the hero planners of old, so that can get you a few more power choices. Unfortunately, those powers don't come with slots.

Encouraged accuracy is something I'm going to be looking into for targeting drone, though. Same with discouraging words. :D I'm not super up on set bonuses, so thanks!

From what I just saw, these stop being semi useful in the 20s. :(

Awesome thanks for the info! I've never made a build in my life so that's the kind of suggestions I need. I honestly figured I'd post a build and someone would tell me I'm crap and post an awesome one lol.

I'll move all the slots and enhancements around while I'm leveling and see how it pans out. Switch ammo can't have slots so that one is good.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Ummmm...what?? No.

Just leveled dual pistol/devices to 50.  Six slots in field op, 4 in health, 4 in stamina....and yes, you will still run out if you run the obligatory hasten.

DP attacks quickly in comparison to most sets, while the end cost is similar to most sets.  I have 2 perf shifters, miracle, convalescence, panacea, +regenerative and the fills for the rest of the slots.  And yes, still run out. The only time you wont run out is if your under the influence of an end buff from another player, or you have gotten agility/cardiac for your alpha(end discount).

Also, unlike most blasters you have to build to survive melee, because otherwise your  top tier DP attack will be mostly wasted unless youre in the center of a pack of mobs. To that end i run combat jumping, tough, weave, maneuvers, and body armor out of munitions...which is enough to avoid at least instantly dying in 54 content, assuming youre not getting trounced by psi.

Slot all the unique pieces from defense and resist, slot mez protections to get yourself at least to 40-50%, and fill the rest with set bonuses for recovery/recharge..anything else is just bonus mitigation. You will also likely need 1 steadfast or some other KB protection.

For attack powers, you can reuse the good sets...you can tell the good sets from the AH...they are generally a lot higher costed then all the other sets...the only things you cannot reuse are unique pieces, so bear that in mind when your aiming for set bonuses and where you slot your uniques. Take into consideration that when you make a set superior, that it often nets 50-100% again of the bonuses of the set.  Running two full sets of the blaster archetype sets is always good. for the most part, the arch sets were well constructed.

good luck!! (and spend some time looking through stuff on paragonwiki and the auction house before you start seriously investing).
