Dwyvyrn Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I spent resources on the T4 right side of the Hybrid Assault Tree. At least my results seem to be very different from the expectation of the description. Which might be my own fault now reading some of the other descriptions, some are very specific and accurate, while others are ambiguous to the point of giving no actual numeric descriptions. The Incarnate power says " While active this power gives all of your damaging powers a very high chance to strike again for a large portion of their damage in Energy Damage. Equipping this Hybrid power grants a passive boost to Damage at all times. So based on my brief experience with the power, the first and last statement seem to be accurate; "a very high chance to strike again" and "Equipping this Hybrid power grants a passive boost to Damage at all times". However, the middle statement is very misleading. The "large portion" of their damage in Energy Damage" is equal to about 20% it turns out. Now I suppose the term is very subjective, as a large potion of food might be 20% bigger than a normal/medium portion. But generally when referring to numbers, or %'s of numbers, you have a small portion, which is generally less than 25%, then folks tend to refer the other "portions" as one quarter(small), one third(small), and one half(medium). Generally a "large portion" of a numeric value is something over 50%, because there is also a small and medium portion. All in all the description of this power is very ambiguous, and doesn't seem to need to be. It references, an accurate "very high" which would also normally then include "very low, low, medium, high and very high" for very high to be defined. In the same structure of ambiguous descriptions there would also expected to be a "very small, small, medium, large and very large" if we were trying to make the statements similar in reference. Coming out with something like (very small 5%-14% , small being 15% to 35%, Medium being 36% to 64%, high being 65% to 85% and very high being 86% to 95%)? Generally anything over 95% or less than 5% is termed as either full/max - empty/minimum. Without getting more unnecessarily deep into the numbers, it would seem to me that if the intention is for these powers to be similar in power, that means that the left side boost on the low end of "very high" at 65% and likely stacks a 5% boost 5 times for 25%? Could we just not be consistent instead of ambiguous where a "large portion" of the incarnate powers are 100% precise in a full description of their impact? Maybe its been changed and not updated, no idea? But either way its very misleading, and we really shouldn't need to be guessing what it means...
srmalloy Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 The problem is that the adjective is scaled within each loose group of effects, not objectively. For example, the "Huge Recharge Bonus" set bonus is 7.5% -- while most people would regard 7.5% as pretty small, as recharge bonuses go, it's huge. The Paragon Studios staff tried to play things close to their chests in an attempt to reduce min-maxing (a lost cause from day one, in my opinion), leaving us with vague and misleading descriptions.
