Nurvus Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 (edited) The inspiration is Stone, Sky, Sea from FFXIV, which is a timed training dummy challenge to gauge whether your DPS is sufficient or not for savage raids/extreme trials. This is their answer to DPS meters, which are absent from the base game for community reasons+console limitations. This should only be available on Brainstorm to avoid backlash. It needs to be on live as well for proper comparisons. The basic idea is to merge pylon tests with SSS. Create a mission with live training dummies (not objects) similar in health to pylons, but can also be altered with mission difficulty. Currently the best ST test isn't reliable because pylons are classed as objects, which skew results. It probably doesn't need to be timed like SSS either, but maybe a long timer could be useful as a stopwatch. I'm sure regular testers can also think of options that would be useful to have, like a dummy with high regen or something. Or tightly and loosely clustered dummies for AoE testing. Or maybe a separate Trapdoor mission clone (or variants!) that's easily accessible. Testing via stationary targets isn't the end-all-be-all of balance, but I think CoH sorely needs a proper baseline for testing. It might help with feedback.
