RiledUp42 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Hi all! New poster, but BIG fan of the game since '04. I finally wound up joining Homecoming after NCSoft gave their blessing, but I'm just coming off of Final Fantasy XIV and I do most of my gaming away from a keyboard, so I wanted to try and make a Steam Config similar to FFXIV which I'm very used to. You should use the options.txt I attached here and put it in c:/Program Files/Homecoming/settings/live/options.txt, but you can always make tweaks if you like once you load the options into the game. I also recommend setting your Powers Bar so that 1-4 are on one side and 5-9 are on the other. 4 is intentionally omitted to separate which powers are mapped to the D-Pad and which are mapped to the face buttons. Holding L2 will get you using powers instead of movement controls and holding R2 will get you using your second power tray. Holding both lets you use the d-pad for Inspirations and the face buttons for the four primary emotes. I also STRONGLY recommend keeping the mouse cursor in the center of the screen and using the right stick to aim the cursor when moving around. You can use the touchpad on the controller to move the mouse and left click as well in all modes. Here are pics of the controller layout. I hope this helps! controller_ps4.vdf options.txt Edited January 11 by RiledUp42 Added the CoH options file. 1 1
Shenanigunner Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) Nice work. I've experimented with a controller on CoX at intervals over the years and concluded it's just not worth it. CoX is so resolutely WASD that trying to get much of anything besides movement on a controller is limiting. Just maybe on builds that are all autos and inherents and toggles, with only a few actual attack/combat powers that will fit on 4 triggers. But most of my alts need a dozen buttons just for basic powers and attacks, just because that's how the UI is designed. Even advanced binds etc. can only minimize the need for a lot of mashable buttons so much. I know some people are content with the limitations. I just... WASD. 🙂 Edited January 22 by Shenanigunner UPDATED: v4.15 Technical Guide (post 27p7)... 154 pages of comprehensive and validated info on on the nuts and bolts!ALSO: GABS Bindfile · WindowScaler · Teleport Guide · and City of Zeroes all at www.Shenanigunner.com
