My favorite melee character was always my BS/SR Scrapper. I loved SO MUCH delivering powerful whacks that knocked people down while they swung at me and constantly whiffed. I want to try building a Brute with Dark/ for the -ACC and stack even more whiffing by adding +DEF with either /SR or /Energy. I want a "turn it on and forget about it" secondary so I'm not wasting time clicking, but am stuck between the two. /SR had good positional DEF, while /Energy has more damage type DEF. I'm concerned about the latter because there is a huge hole in Psionic damage and too many higher level enemies that could easily mez me. If they hit me. Which makes me lean toward /SR. But I really wanted to try something new. Any advice from anyone who's played /Energy? Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean by easily mezzing you. /Energy has solid mez protection. While it doesn't have Psi defense, a lot of Psi attacks aren't typed for position, so it's a hole either way. But, with DM and Energy, you'll have two heals available and lots of endurance management. You also get some +recharge in /Energy.

 

I'd recommend it for a fun build. I think I had one back in the day. I could try finding the build for it.

Thank you. I did end up going /Energy before seeing this response, and so far so good. It looks like the +DEF (playing in Mids) can get close to /SR and has the added advantage of +RES. I misspoke when I said "mez" as I was equating that with Psi attacks. Oops. Still rusty. Look out in the streets for Slim Shady. Yes, he looks like you would think...
