Turbulance Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Thoughts on letting players buy additional locations on Ouro portals. Locations would only be usable by the player that has unlocked them obviously. Let the additional locations cost 1 million a pop and only be available on personal portals if not I am down with that as well. These portals good be good stepping stones for travel between locations for new/returning players who don't have influence to buy all the other top tier travel options. Portals have their own CD or you can give them a 30m cool down like other powers. 1 1
Rudra Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Why not just use the long range teleporter? It already lets you go to every zone.
Turbulance Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 Doesn't work the same way. Also different cd's
Rudra Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) Of course it doesn't work the same way. You unlock it for free and it costs nothing to get each of the zones unlocked. And you don't have to go to Ouroboros and then your desired zone, you just go directly to your desired zone. And if you are not of a vigilante alignment on a red side team or a rogue alignment on a blue side team, and you have your SG base teleporters set up, you can use the Base Teleporter (available from the START vendor) to do the same thing as what you are trying to use Ouroboros for. And you can get the Mission Teleporter (should also be available from the START vendor) to just go directly to the mission. And all 3 are on separate timers. (Edit: And if you get the Team Transporter, you can take yourself and your team directly to the mission, and it is on a separate timer too.) Edited September 28 by Rudra 1
Turbulance Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 Its free if you travel to every location. Which majority of the average player base doesn't do unless you have a reason to go there independently when you know most go there for the first time in a TF . Even if they do they don't get the badge. Along with your second comment and all the and's you had in it. Base teleporter can't be used by the casual/new player who probably isn't or ever will be a base user or in a supergroup. As for your mission teleporter yeah its one of the good ones if you can get it for free with badges. Same cost you can get from the ouro idea if you pay out of pocket with yes a different CD. Everything you are comparing is not to the casual "newby" player. They have to travel to these locations before they can use them. The ouro idea doesn't. Many players who are in TF's and don't have travel options get either left behind and have to jog it out and alot of players are like "why don't you have a, b, or c" items and they don't have any idea what they are talking about. To me the more options we have the more or better a chance a player stumbles upon it. Also to me more options more CDs the better.
Rudra Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) 13 minutes ago, Turbulance said: They have to travel to these locations before they can use them. The ouro idea doesn't. Except it does. That is why you hear those players in Atlas Park and Mercy Island calling for an Ouroboros portal. They may only need to get to Ouroboros and hit up the explore there, but they can do the same thing with each of the other zones. Zones which they will over the course of playing be exposed to unless they camped out in a farm to level up. So I'm sorry, but I disagree with your statement. If a player does not want to invest the effort to get the already available means of fast traveling around the game, that is on them. Newbie or not. Everyone was a newbie once and we all figured out how to get around. So please don't lay claim to newbies can't figure out or be bothered to ask how to access the various fast travel options in the game. And if the claim is they are too lazy to go unlock the fast travel options? Again, that is on them. Or if the claim is they won't want to make a SG base and fill the opening area with zone teleporters? There are ample SGs out there open to recruitment that already have them set up. So I don't find your argument convincing. Edit: And if they find out while on a TF/SF? Then the team can help them get around and those players will be enlightened as to the options, already be accessing the zones that TF/SF hits, and already be growing their LRT. Edit again: Besides, with your stated costs? Newbies won't be able to afford it until late anyway. So that leaves experienced players that made alts and can feed that alt money to buy your proposed option. Edited September 28 by Rudra 1 1
Turbulance Posted September 28 Author Posted September 28 (edited) Costs can change at interest of balance and use. I didn't claim on how someone's newbness is will always be but how it commonly goes. I generally make 2-10 million before 20 on auctioning salvages alone. I didn't say they couldn't or wouldn't just going by what I commonly see. Like most mmorpgs and retro players. There is a good chunk of the population who just want to group for content and nothing else. So I still don't care for SG is the easy answer. I do agree on the base price is a bit to high all together but that was me trying to put it on par. Laziness is the epitome of why the PTW shop exists in the first place. I did not expect this level of push back on a PTW item that is a more reliable and easier way to get locations. You kinda turned it into a "its on them" and "they can just do this" argument when it was meant just to be another option. Edited September 28 by Turbulance
Rudra Posted September 28 Posted September 28 If the devs agree, then sure, whatever. However, it should be set on a 30 minute shared timer for all zones purchased in this manner and the price should stay at 1,000,000 inf' like the others. (Or just make the zone access for LRT purchasable by zone for the same fee from START. Whatever.)
