Earth/Earth/Fire - Dom ATO Question

So, I finally got my first Dom to 50! Now, Earthen Assassin is looking to slot the ATOs.

 

I was looking at 6-slotting both sets, as the +recharge and +defense components look pretty good. My first instinct was to put a set in Stalagmites and the second set in Volcanic Gasses (not sure which should go where, or if it really matters). Are there better places to put the Dom ATOs? Fossilize and Stone Cages were other potentials, but I put 4 Basilisks Gaze in Fossilize and a full set of Gravitational Anchor in SC. (I also rarely if ever use purples, so those are not in my current draft build).

Because it provides a +dmg buff, you generally want to slot the Superior Ascendency of the Dominator proc in your opener and/or a power you use often. Stalagmites is a good place to slot the full set. Superior Dominating Grasp is OK but not nearly as useful. It provides good enhancement values but its set bonuses aren't great and Fiery Orb is "meh". I skip it on many dominators. You could slot it in Volcanic Gasses, but Gladiator's Net or Basilisk's Gaze would be as good or better at lower cost. You could also slot it in Stone Cages, but Gravitational Anchor is better.

@Uun is too kind a person, i wouldn’t use fiery orb as a doorstop. it is awful

 

on my mind/fire i put superior asc in my ST hold, stacks nicely as i use it often

 

for seismic smash, consider having both the purple hold damage proc and then 5 slot hecatomb to include the melee damage proc

 

if the hesitancy on using purples is due to cost, it’s worth it for seismic smash and attuning your dominator ascendency set. run a bunch of TFs and buy them with merits if needed
