Not saying either is great, but for comparison purposes.
Which of the following would be best for PvE, TFs, etc.?
Am I looking for a balance of Def/Resist, or is greater Resist better?

Left is Battle Axe/Energy Aura.  Built up Def & Res, attacks do a bit more damage, but lower Health Points.
Right is Battle Axe/Invulnerability.  Better Resist, with a bit of Smash/Lethal/Melee Defense, more Health Points.
Finally, would either make a fair farm toon?
Thank you for your help!

On the invulnerability build, I'm guessing you don't have Invincibility scaled out. There is a slide, 0-10, that lets you see the values with bad guys around. You get a nice bump to your type defenses. And if those are your base numbers for F/C/E/N, then I think they are a bit too low. I shoot for low 30s so that it doesn't take but a few baddies to get them into the 40% range. You can probably active farm S/L with either build.

Personally, from what I can see, I like the /EA build better.

Against pure damage, and in the absence of external buffs, it is generally better to have 1 kind of mit (either def or res) capped rather than to have both halfway capped. The reason is mitigation in this game shows increasing, not diminishing, returns - against all principles of game balance and common sense. Going from 0% to 10% def is barely any difference. Go from 35% to 45% and you can afk in mobs.

Brutes are not good at building for resists, so focus on def unless you are a res set or you are within easy reach of the res hardcap. Invuln for example will always hardcap SL res.

I can tell you have energy drain toggled to the max and invincibility at 1, so you can't compare these builds anyway.
