Entered Mission in Citadel TF and was sent into an Arena match

Soloing Citadel, go in a mission about half way thru the TF and instead of going in the mission I am suddenly in an Arena Match?  I quit the arena match and now have been booted from my TF.  This blows.  On top of that now I am getting spammed with "Event does not exist" in chat

There's an ancient bug from very early on live that still exists to this day: If you enter an instance, there's a random but very tiny chance that the game will throw you onto someone else's instance... Someone's mission, an Incarnate trial, or even an arena match.  It's happened to me three times in the past 20 years, and it sounds like that is what happened to you.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Like @Lunar Ronin said though, it is a rare but old bug. Back on Live playing my main MM shortly after CoV launched (when we were capped at level 40 and GV didn't exist yet), I had just finished clearing my mission and was making my way to the mission exit (because the click blue button to exit didn't exist yet), and I passed a full team running through my mission looking for their mission objectives and enemies. It was funny as hell to me, but I'm sure they shared your current exasperation/frustration.
