Dark Blast/Super Reflexes/Mace Mastery - Build advice request

 Hello folks, me yet again 🙂

 

 After the madness of the Map Server events (and the realization of my farming team built, and working flawlessly) I just want to solo a bit. After the GPU mauling, claustrophobic, bungholes to elbows CoH version of Burning Man... I'm feeling anti social :D

 

 Also in that same mindset, I didn't want a buffer or a Melee to play. That left blasters ( been there, done that recently ) Corrs ( my favs .. so no, I want to break away a bit ) I don't want a pet class just yet and my last 50 was a Controller, which was a lot of fun. I haven't been down one road as yet.

I dug 'em on live but never got one out of their 20's. I want to fix that. 

 

So, here we are ( I know, FINALLY! ya long winded bastige!! ) I've settled on Dark Blast, which I like, and know passingly well, but the Sent. version is different, and in very cool ways! I hate cones, but this version of Umbral looks to be pretty convincing. I haven't played Super Reflexes in a while, so this is where I feel I might fall flat. As I was using Mids I built and rebuilt this one.. finally landing on the notion I should get the positional defenses to cap and work from there, trying to be balanced in the resistances where possible.  As always I was wishing for 3 or 4 more slots 🙂 I wanted that last couple in a few sets to get toxic/psionic - the red headed step children of the def/res family up to par. Ah well, can't have it all, aye?

Fairly certain Sentinels never existed on live, it's a class that was added to homecoming. Some of the other servers also have their own special/unique classes (I think one has a control/armor set combo?). Sentinel was basically meant to be a ranged scrapper type role, for players that wanted to play ranged power sets but also wanted to be more survivable with an armor set. The one thing to keep in mind is that Sentinels have a 10 target hit cap on AoE attacks and have lower base range compared to blaster/corr/defenders.

 

Anyway, back to original topic of dark/sr, never personally played this combination (more specifically, never played dark blast on Sents). However, I wouldn't ignore slotting Master Brawler, the amount of absorb shield you get scales with how low your HP is and can get pretty high when it's slotted (though as you mentioned, it can be hard to find slots). Maybe dropping an attack (since this build picks up another in MG from patron) will help to distribute some slots to other powers (perf shifter +end in enduring, more rec uniques in health, etc).

 

I did a quick build in mid's, could probably use more fine tuning as well, but it should up your damage a bit more. One concern would be endurance, though ageless destiny would fix it if you go that route. I prefer musculature on Sentinels as they actually have some solid damage numbers and can benefit a lot out of procing attacks. With defensive armor sets in particular, 4 slotting shield wall can be a great way of getting e/n resist. This build doesn't quite hit soft cap positional def, but you do apply a good bit of -tohit with dark which will help. I don't particularly like scorpion patron on sentinels, soul has a much stronger ST attack in MG if you wish to stick with the dark theme, alternatively electric epic has great ST damage in Havoc Punch (faster animation if you don't care about theme).

 

Maybe this will give you some ideas to adjust your first build.

Ok tweaked for info given, mostly intact as I drew it up. I managed to eek out a little more global and a damage buff (all), kept the positionals (sic) above cap and gave NRG/Neg a little love too.

Here's another take on a build. It's defensively quite a bit stronger because of unleash potential and life drain, in exchange for doing somewhat less AOE damage. Smite makes a decent replacement for havoc punch, in case you'd like to stay thematic for your mastery pick.
