Torpor Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) Why is Calvin Scott givving out the mission chains out of order still possible? I usually run as a warden so I guess I just haven't had this problem until now, but Calvin gave me the mission and when I turned level 15 I got go to meet Crow and guess who is already dead and disappeared. I already made a ticket but can this please be patched so it can't happen again. Might have to delete and start character over and it's just so disheartening to just have a character become time wasted. Edited May 28 by Torpor
Psamanthe Posted May 28 Posted May 28 (edited) There's a warning already on the Wiki concerning this very thing. https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Crusader_Storyline Yeah, this is why it is not recommended for players starting off with City of Heroes to play Praetorian characters until they 'cut their teeth' on Primal Earth characters first. Praetoria is still a bit glitchy on mission progress at times. You might know this, but for anyone who doesn't: it is also possible to do any of the four Praetorian arcs with a Primal Earth character through Flashback (Ouroboros) instead, so if a contact is gone, you can start the next arc manually. Get to Level 10, then you can run those arcs at your level, or get to Level 25 and do any/all of them as you wish. EDIT: In hindsight the above paragraph isn't good advice, as none of the Praetorian arcs before First/Night Ward have "time travel" features. It's not possible to get access to Ouroboros solo in Praetoria without another player intervening (portal drop). Edited June 1 by Psamanthe 1
Torpor Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 Is it not possible to just have Calvin give the final mission arc sometime after level 15, and not before? If it can't be done it can't be done, but if it's a known problem why keep it in? I've gotten characters through Praetoria before, was just doing the Crusader arc on a different character and had this problem.
lemming Posted May 28 Posted May 28 It is an annoying bit that you can lock out some arcs by having contacts getting killed in other arcs. One way I found around it is by using an Ouro crystal to bring up the contact in question, port to them, quit out of the arc, and then you can talk to them for the dead end arc. Unfortunately, hard to do with some of the contacts with some of the Ouro limitations.

As I said in my ticket reply it'll all vanish when you move to Paragon City or the Rogue Islands at level 20 anyway. It's also impossible to do all branches on a normal run through. You need to use Ouroboros for that.

It's possible to do all arcs as a praetorian, but you have to do it in an order that doesn't allow anyone to die before you need them elsewhere. I usually follow this guide: https://homecoming.wiki/wiki/Apparition's_Complete_Guide_to_Praetoria 1
Psamanthe Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) In any case, someone smarter than me pointed out the existence of these two characters: Message Man (Resistance) Clockwork A87952 (Loyalist) Both contacts auto-assign to a Praetorian of the same alignment as of Level 5. They'll be in the contact list (but not where Radio or Newspaper would be in Primal Earth.) The contacts are repeatable. If things truly are borked, they can grant missions that do a little better than Street-Sweeping until the magic Level 20 appears and you can punch your toon's ticket out to Primal Earth. It's not great story wise, but it beats deletion. Edited June 1 by Psamanthe
