Error loading News in HC launcher

Hi,

 

I'm getting this error when I start the HC launcher (on my Mac)...

 

 

I am able to login fine and start playing, so this is not high priority, but...  there's definitely something wrong.

 

I have tried to use LaunchCat to reinstall the launcher and COH, but the LaunchCat app downloads Wine9 does that over and over, looping, and never stopping. 

 

Any ideas?

I've been having the same issue for a month or more, as well.

I've asked Manga to look into it, but if you can play the game fine then it sounds like a loss of contact with GM Bot and nothing to worry about player side.

Ya, I just happened to see this forum post and thought I would second it. The game itself has been fine.

Manga says it happens every so often and it's generally some nanny software from the ISP

There is some issue with the game/Wine/MacOS. Not sure what.  
 

I ended up deleting all of my COH installation, but when I tried to re-install HC with LaunchCat it hung just after installing Wine (although a couple times it hung a bit after that). Deleted and reinstalled several times, same result. 
 

I would recommend waiting for Manga to get back to you, @lintboy. 
 

However, if you want to take your life in your own hands… you can do what I did.

 

1. download the HC installer

2. right click on that .exe file and select Open With and choose the copy of Wine in /Applications/COH. 
3. Let it install

 

Hopefully that will fix it, but no guarantees. 
 

In my case, I suspect the problem was MacOS security after an update, but it’s just a guess. I know the problem was not caused by the firewall because I disabled it completely to test it. No change. But the issue was solved simply by reinstalling HC in a different way, so it could be the files. No idea.
