Hellshot13 Posted August 29 Posted August 29 Hi all, thanks for clicking. TL;DR: New to building out characters, long time player. Please don't be too harsh! Recently got back in CoH via homecoming as I've talked a buddy into how great the game was, and he wanted to give it a shot. I've been having an absolute blast making a ton of different characters etc etc. One of my mains from when I first started playing homecoming (I think back in 2022) was already level 40-something, so recently I got her fully levelled to 50. Will hopefully start grinding towards IC trials and all that fun soon. My question is if I built this character well, or just well enough. I am level 50, not all my current Encs are at 50, but they ARE all above level 43. My goals were to have double digit defense, while having almost 50% res pre rune of protection. I'm currently able to do 1/4 difficult on missions. After I pop RoP, I feel indestructible. I saw a video recommending the panacea Hp/End, numina's recovery, and miracle recovery as a way to maintain End in end game, as well as I put performance shifter (along with another 3 end related PS for set bonuses) into stamina, and End feels relatively good. What could I do to tweak (or fix!) in this build to push it even further. I would love to be able to do 4/8 missions solo, or carry my buddy through some 4/8 missions!
Hellshot13 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 Well, after doing some digging, I might be able to convert this into a sort of fire farm. For any reading and wondering if I'm trolling, no I'm just stupid. I had scirroco's in phoenix rising for recharge and the set bonus, but it looks like I can move that to burn, which is a lot better of a skill than I thought it was. Farming account love burn on a brute, so that will be step one for me is moving to a fill scirroco's to burn, and just using a 53 recharge on phoenix rising
Hellshot13 Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 What I'm looking at now, for trying to do fire farming: I know it isn't 40% fire Def, but I ahve no idea where else to get that from

Targeted AoE gives +7.5%) plus the Gladiator's Armor +3% and Steadfast +3% Uniques; plus some regular Defense buffage from Combat Jumping/Weave/Maneuvers. That said; you do not need capped Fire Defence for "Active" farming. And for AFK farming; you need a very specific type of build (and it's tricky to tick all the boxes on a Brute!). If you want ideas; look here; I rejigged someone's /FieryAura Brute build earlier this week: 1
JediDave Posted September 2 Posted September 2 If you want to go full fire farm with it, then you'll likely want a build 1 and build 2 at a trainer, because fire farm specific builds tend to be pretty bad in most other content. And for any future builds you make, you seem to be falling into some common traps for people newer to making builds. Don't feel like you need to get 5-6 slots of a single set in each power. Looking at weave, for example, you have 6 slots of LotG in there. 3-4 is fine, with 3 getting you near/at the ED cap on defense, and then a 4th slot if you want more endurance reduction or the acc set bonus. Then, on the opposite end of the spectrum, you have incinerate and greater fire sword, 2 powers that should have 4-6 slots in them, at the base slot alone. On a brute, you can definitely get away with lower damage from enhancements because of fury, but a single slot isn't going to do much for you. I understand having res/def goals, but if the attack powers you take give a set bonus that adds to def/res stats, then they are doing much more for your survivability than 6 slotting fire shield and plasma shield, which give much less resistance after 3 slots and near no benefits after 4. For a fire farm specific build, you may need to slot them with 6pc for a specific set bonus, but those builds also put burn or another aoe on auto then afk for 5-10 minutes while things die, using no other attacks.
WuTang Posted September 3 Posted September 3 You also can proc out Fiery Melee pretty well and still maintain a decent amount of mitigation. Also, and this is just my (2 cent) suggestion, you could set your build up for S/L farming then it'd still be good for the majority of regular content.
