Gobbledygook Posted September 24 Posted September 24 I haven't played in Praetoria since Going Rogue came out, and was thinking of starting a new brute there. My original was a SS/SR, which I gained for quite awhile. I was thinking of trying the new Psionic Armor, but not sure how it operates, mechanically. For example, I know Inv is a mix of Def and primarily s/l res. Fire armor is obviously highly resistant to fire, etc., etc, etc... Is Psionic Armor the answer for psychic damage? What would you start goldside?
Warshades Posted September 24 Posted September 24 Gold side is pretty barren most of the time. Frankly, you can start whatever you want there since it caps out at lvl 20 and then you can pick if you want to go hero/villain for the rest of the journey. With regards to psi armor, it is a mixed set. It's primary mitigation is damage resist and yes, it does get a lot of psi resist. Secondary mitigation I would say is a combination of absorb shield, regen, and CC effects. Slotting Aura of Insanity for mez effects increases the magnitude which helps it affect more than just minions, psychokinetic barrier should be set on auto use whenever it's up, and consume psyche can provide a solid regen buff when used in large mobs. A last 3rd layer of mitigation is defense, but since the set doesn't provide any significant protection against defense debuffs, I wouldn't suggest focusing on this aspect to much. It's a solid overall set, but keep in mind that it has some weaknesses to lethal and toxic resist that you'll want to plan for. Primary melee sets that provides additional soft control or mez effects that can stack with Aura of Insanity tend to work well with psi armor.
Gobbledygook Posted September 24 Author Posted September 24 Thanjs fir the insight, I thought it had a damage aura as well. It sounds like Em/Psi would be fun.

Aura of Insanity inflicts (very) minor Psionic damage on anything that it doesn't mez. It also has a decent chance of inflicting Confuse (especially with the "Coercive Persuasion: Contagious Confusion" proc) and it can take at least two 4.5PPM damage procs.

I slotted mine with a full Cupid set (on my tank) and it's pretty effective. On the Praetoria bit, I run a char thru there every so often, latest was a Energy Melee/Psi Stalker. Apparation's Guide on the wiki is nice if you want to do all the arcs, though I usually pick and choose the arcs I want to do nowadays and skip the ones I don't particularly care for.

The only arc I remember is the one with the zombies that charge you aggressively and blow up. I need that in my life. Are there any powers in Psi Armor that are skippable, or are they all important? They're all useful - personally if I was to skip any of them it'd be Memento Mori as (to me) it's by far the least frequent button push. Aura of Insanity/Confusion is an odd fish in that it has a lot of different CC effects and enhancements and resistance affects its magnitude, not its duration. This means that the most efficient slotting is to use Generic "Mez" Enhancements, such as Acc/Mez HOs. Full breakdown here: Edited September 24 by Maelwys 1 1
