I'm uploading my mids reborn build file with the post.  I'm not sure what would be the best sets for the hold powers and what successful builds look like with fire/dev. A whole lot of options with power picks doesn't make it any easier, however I found that the devices were just to slow to use in general combat situations, I really like remote bomb and trip mine but they take far too long to go off etc. I found most of the powers in fire don't fit my playstyle either so I might respec and take leviathan just for knockout blow etc. I'd like to get as blapper as I can with the build while still maintaining my distance from hard hitters. Playstyle tips anything with build is welcome thanks.

/Devices does not lend itself to blapping at all.  if you want to blap, you'll need to create a different toon with a different secondary.  Given that, there are some things you can do to make your Fire/Devices hit harder and faster.

  • Take Fire Blast instead of Flares, if you have to skip one - I like taking both my T1 and T2 primary and T1 secondary so I have 3 attacks while mezzed - but many prefer just 2 and if you have to cut one, cut Flares.
    • The Blaster's Wrath set you have in Flares should go into Inferno instead.  More accuracy and recharge on your nuke is better.
    • Then put the Superior Defiant Barrage in Fire Blast so that the status protection proc can help release from mezzes earlier since you can use this power while mezzed.
  • Take Blaze!  It's fast activating and hits hardest.  It's one of the best powers in the set.
  • If you want more melee'ish powers - Take Taser and slot for damage.  It hits hard (more than Fire Blast) and the mag 3 stun is a bonus.  You can also put procs in it, if you want.
  • Fire Breath - I like this power while many do not for the long animation.  But despite me liking it, it is skippable.  I would take all others in the Fire Blast set first over Fire Breath.  So, unless you want it for thematic/character reasons, drop it.  If you do take it, slot it up for damage.
  • Purple Recipe Sets:  Ragnarok, Apocalypse, Armageddon, and the like - generally, you don't need to 6-slot these sets.  Unless you have other Tox/Psi defenses to build on, it's not worth it.  The mezz resistance isn't really worth it either as you are a blaster and can still attack while mezzed anyway.  Plus, you can't slot these until endgame, so you're mostly teamed with someone to give you status protection, or you take clarion incarnate.... again, not really needed.  So use the slots elsewhere.
  • Fire Mastery set - great set, but I don't know if I'd take it for this combo despite being thematic.
    • Char is a great hold - fast activating and can be proc'd, but since you have no other hold, you can't get bosses.  And it doesn't need 6-slotting, unless you have extra slots to spare and want to proc it up, but who ever has slots to spare?  😄
    • Bonfire doesn't serve you either, really.  You already have Caltrops, which makes foes slowly run from you (damage mitigation, even though they will still toss an occasional attack at you, it's a lower hitting ranged attack instead of the harder melee attacks).  Bonfire will fling you foes away and create more hate, and fling them out of your caltrops if you have them down.  If you do keep it, put the KB>KD proc in it.  Then you can layer it on top of your caltrops, which will help keep them in it longer as they try to run through it, and allow a great chance of it knocking them down.
  • Switching Mastery / Epic set might be good.
    • Leviathan and Knockout Blow is a great choice and will help you blap a little, and you can slot the melee winter's even set for more defense bonuses and the chance for hold proc so that you can occasionally hold a boss.
  • In general:
    • You'll want at least 3 End Mods (or set) in Field Op.  Drop a Panacea +End/+Heal proc in Health, and a Performance Shifter +End proc in Stamina and call it a day.
      • If you find you still need more endurance, you can add in a Miracle +Recov, or Numi +Regen/+Recov into Health, but you really shouldn't need all these plus Panacea, but they are options as well to help.
    • In Tough or another resistance shield, be sure to slot the Steadfast Protection Res/+3% Def special, the Gladiator's Armor special +3% Def io, and the Unbreakable Guard +Mak HPs
    • In your Defensive powers, try to slot at least Shield Wall +5% Resist, Reactive Defense's Scaling Resists io, and as many (up to 5) LotG Def/+Global Rech io specials.
      • I try to get these defense and resist specials in all my builds - in addition to any sets.

Other things:

/Devices lends itself to ranged or ambush play.  When on a team, you'll stealth ahead to set up your trip mines at known ambush points, and remote bomb on a foe (can be set while invisible), and then you and the team can pull mobs into your ambush, or the mobs spawns inside it if you set it up correctly - can be lots of fun!  But when steamrolling through... you can also just have Gun Drone follow you and shoot whatever while you blast away, and use Caltrops to keep heavy hitters off you.

So, I personally would add remote bomb into the build as it does have its uses occasionally.  But if the "ambush" playstyle isn't your thing, then skip remote bomb and trip mines and devote your build to other things.

Hope this helps!
