Dark/Thermal - Enough to build a char around?

Greetings. I would appreciate your thoughts, they don't need to be too in-depth. I've been looking at corruptors and masterminds and wonder if this is a middle road. The build is based around the wolf although there are some nice little gimmes here and there. Defense is impressive and I should be able to debuff mobs into the dirt. With that said, there is virtually no offense and only Living Shadows to build containment. The idea is for this char to fight 50-60' out.

1: Living Shadows has a long enough Immobilize duration that it's not worth slotting it up. Either slot it as a -ToHit power, or as a damage power using procs. In either case, put the Energy Orb ATO into it so that you constantly put out Orbs... at level 50, each Orb does 66 damage in an AoE over its lifetime. This sounds sucky, but getting 66 AoE damage out of one slot is worth it. Another option is to put Siphon Insight into here.

2: Fearsome Stare should also be slotted for -ToHit. I would put 4xCloud Senses in it, and then either the last 2 Cloud Senses for Ranged Defense, or 2 Damage Procs (because they'll actually go off a bit more with this power's longer Recharge).

3: Poisonous Ray doesn't need -Def enhancing, but it's a GREAT spot for an Achilles Heel proc. If you slot it up for Damage (3 slots for Accuracy/Damage/Endurance), 1 Achilles Heel, and 2 Damage Procs, I think it averages over 200 damage with a 90% chance to proc Achilles Heel. So it's a Damage/-Resist attack, not a -Defense attack.

4: ALWAYS put a Performance Shifter: Chance for +Endurance IO into Stamina.

The Endurance recovery of the build looks problematic too.

Please help me with these two statements.

 

1) As a damage power using procs: Positron's Blast has a Chance of Damage (Energy). Ragnarok has a Chance of Knockdown. I'm not sure what you mean by using procs as a damage power.

 

I went and looked this up and you're talking about non-unique enhancements like Glimpse of the Abyss: Chance of Damage (Psionics). Each enhancement is unique within a power, correct? So i can only have one of those in a power, but more than one across all of my powers?

It has never occurred to me to slot powers like that before. I've always considered the "proc" part to be a small bonus, cool if it goes off but not something to hugely push for. I didn't realize they could add up to be good damage.

 

2) By the energy orb ATO, do you mean Superior Overpowering Presence: Recharge Time/Energy Font?
