Illusion/Dark/Mace building Theme meets Practicality

So recently started getting bored with some of my other illusion and had never leveled a /Dark one before. 

Other than some rough patches in the 20's, it's amazing even just IO'ed.

 

Now I am keeping certain things for theme (mystic flight for instance) so I know/aware I could squeeze more defense out but don't think I really need to at this point. 

I was just curious if you can see, outside of anymore purples (Even the ones listed are going to take me awhile) any ways to improved damage overall or gaps I have missed?

 

Also so far I have played up to 40 without Darkest Night and honestly hate/loathe anchors but it will be in the build toward the end but if you can think of something else I could use

in place of it, I am all ears. I wanted to stick to a general theme a bit but overall rounded/built for practicality. I tend to hover/fly on most of my builds and this one has been a joy and once I get the tarantula, my army will be complete...

 

Edit: Also I know Shadows Fall + Celerity = Superior Invisibility. I have it as a mule for LotG and those times when I team and Shadows Fall interferes so situational without sacrificing defense. I ran the same setup but with Group Invisibility and found Superior Invisibility less annoying.

I can't open the build at the moment, but looking at what you pasted here's what I see:

 

Blind: you can save yourself some inf and replace that Apoc proc with a Ghost Widow or Neurotic Shutdown Psi Dmg Proc

Hover: that second slot could be best used in many other powers. Here's a few suggestions:

  • Lockdown chance for +2Mag Hold on Blind or Flash
  • Sudden Acceleration KB>KD on Phantasm, so he doesn't know enemies away from your Tar Patch area
  • Force Feedback +recharge on Disruptor Blast will help lowering the cooldown of your powers
  • I'm still to try Dark Affinity, but it seems like Fade and Soul Absorption would also be better options for that 2nd slot on Hover. Maybe you could check how other players are slotting those powers and see if you get a better idea
  • Could also replace the 2nd LotG with a Kismet +Accuracy

Stamina: I really don't think you need that 3rd slot. Place it in one of the many suggestions above

Poisonous Ray: That slot with Lady Grey's Proc could also be removed and better used elsewhere

 

Twilight Grasp seems to have some weird slotting, but I'm guessing it's for some sort of bonus (recharge?).

 

I'd have to open the build on Mids to make any further suggestions, but I believe these suggestions would already improve your build slightly.

You seem to be 2 over on 6.25% recharge bonuses, so the slotting for Disruptor Blast and Summon Tarantula aren't doing much for you. 

 

I went with Primal Forces over anything else, because PBed Fade + Group Invis is just too good to pass up (~30% defense to everything for everyone on the team, as oppose to 16-17%. Throw in another ~7ish from Shadow Fall + Maneveurs and you're hitting 36/37 to anyone squishy). Pity the rest of the set is urrgh, although at least Energy Torrent takes Forced Feedback. One slot left in Spectral Terror for the Energy Font proc. I suspect overall I could go more Proc Monstery with it.

Half of it does. I think im getting 5 to 7% off it with PB. Which doesnt sound like much but every % is precious the closer you get to 45%. 

 

Plus Carni has always had Group Invis so when I remade her as a Ill/Dark rather than Storm it stayed (Storm went onto my remade Plant controller and Empathy got kicked to the curb). I like to be able to run up to things with Decoys trailing along behind me. 

 

Ill run some ingame tests on Phanty later and give you a proper % breakdown.

So with Group Invis with a LOTG in it (and a few Recharge IOs which I haven't replaced yet) un-PBed Group Invis gives 2.14 defense. With PB that  jumps to 4.39% (or rather 4.39 + 4.39 which disappears once combat starts). 

 

Fade gives me around 14% slotted but un-PBed and 25.39 when PBed.
