  1. I get that, won't be for everyone : > I think it's at least enjoyable enough that it's worthwhile for redside communities to be active, even if blue will always have more people in general
  2. I've made two Dominator's so far, but so far I'm noticing that I'm dying really easily when in fights. What sorts of powersets and builds work for counterbalancing that and giving dominators the ability to take more hits?
  3. I'm aware people know it's there, it's more like... I feel that people are more drawn to hero-type characters, either culturally or within the context of the game themes having a more hero-centric focus. Less awareness and more encouragement, so maybe someone might be interested to come up with a cool villain in response to hearing people were trying to come together more on it. Trying to like draw people into the redside community, even if it's in a small way.
  4. Could I ask why so, if you remember? The first ~20 levels of Redside I played felt really nice to me, though it's been a month or so since I've touched my redside char.
  5. I think it'd be interesting to encourage more Villain characters so people have a reason to be more creative. A lot of people will still have hero mains as their favorite but it'd at least give the Villains a chance to get up there population-wise. Making characters is one of the strong parts of the game so maybe it'll encourage some to stick around if they make someone they end up liking.
  6. I have a Villian character on Everlasting, though it's true that most of my characters are Heroes. At least from my perspective it's more about 'who that character is' (Since I have an RP focus, at least a bit even outside of Everlasting) and their identity that decides alignment to me. I wouldn't want to change the alignment of my existing characters but I can agree that it's worthwhile encouraging more Villain players to come on and flesh out that side of the game.
  7. My characters are usually all fairly intelligent/wise. Being able to think through your goals and how to accomplish them is incredibly valuable for someone to move forward within the world of RP. Even the one who's a late-teen, though he lacks what most would call a high-level education, is relatively good at grasping fundamental concepts quickly.
  8. Why are Ice Melee and Ice Armor so unpopular for scappers? I'm curious why they're last by such a large margin. Also, Katana/Electric Armor Scrapper represent! : >
  9. There's a part of me that's like, I feel like the scripting would be more on the generals than the specifics. Like the scripting would help to establish the main conflicts and the direction they might resolve in, but aside from that setting up sessions and seeing if other people can get involved if they want. The only thing I'd be worried about is like, major conflicts being resolved too easily when other RPers aren't okay with it ending on that note, since it can cut their own arcs short as well. Satisfying resolutions and all. imo a person can have a plan for how their character's arc moves out, but it's bouncing off the arcs of others that makes it special. Some amount of scripting seems important but I want to believe it can work without overdoing it. That's how I think of this at least.
  10. Most of my RP experiences so far have been like, random happenstance meetings in Pocket D - walking up to people and having conversations happen. I was wondering if like, longer more structured things happen and what people think of them, things where characters intersect in a bigger way in some sort of goal accomplishing or conflict. Longer periods of time involved and like, character development inside them etc. How often do those happen? What do people think of them and what sorts of groups do them? How hard are they to find?
  11. I'm playing in what I understand to be full screen mode, just going off the resolution that's the same as my monitor. I believe it's 1920x1080 (default) but will have to check to be sure. EDIT: I forgot to mention as well - when starting up the game, it's possible to have if begin while the window is inactive. When this happens, the gamma applies to the non-game parts of the window (whatever is on the desktop at the time) before repeating the same result as previously.
  12. Hello - I'm currently unable to change the gamma value on my game, after it was recommended as a possible way of reducing eye strain/general exhaustion while playing the game I can change the value in the options menu, but within a second after releasing the button from the value bar, the screen returns to the default gamma value. This is before Apply Changes is even pressed to finalize the change. Pressing Apply Changes to finalize the change does not fix the issue - sometimes when I tab out and back into the game, the gamma value is at the correct level for when I tab back in, but it quickly resets back to the default gamma value. I currently use Flux, as that was a noted possible issue, but even setting flux to be disabled while playing City of Heroes, or disabling it altogether, does not fix the issue. Could anyone help me to diagnose the issue and find a fix?
