  1. I appreciate the DA specific tip! Does this make it so you can actually come out with a neg gain of endurance after using Dark Regeneration if it procs? Or is it a recovery over time effect?
  2. I definitely don't disagree. Not having experience playing at the endgame, I'm still wondering if this sort of insanely endurance heavy build can be overcome by the massive amount of end redux and end recovery afforded by sets and incarnates. Are there any ball park values of theoretical max for endurance drain and/or endurance recovery? Or are there far too many variables to account for?
  3. Ok dang, I was pretty certain Cardiac was the way to go for me due to the fact that I've been chugging blue inspirations for the past 50 levels and would have 10+ toggles with the above build. When it comes to endurance heavy builds, does the math work such that end mod >>> reduce end cost? I'm pretty unlearned when it comes to the resource economy.
  4. In instances where these powers are taken as set mules, would you potentially never even use the power? Just using it to slot a set for its passive stats and set bonus?

  6. Despite playing this game upon release, and revisiting it after CoV released, and after it went free to play I have only now just achieved my first level 50! I am almost entirely at a loss as to how to draft an end game build and slot it, let alone how to plan the enhancements/sets, and incarnates without making mistakes. I realize a post like this might seem like it should live in the scrapper forums, but my questions are less about min/maxing my specific scrapper build at the moment and more just about how not to make stupid mistakes with an end game build. Once I am certain I have the right abilities at the right levels with the right number of slots, and no superfluous abilities, I can worry about min/maxing. I'm playing a Psi Melee / Dark Armor scrapper and here are a few random questions I have: 1. How do I know if I need 5 or 6 slots in an ability? I understand that you need 6 to get that set bonus, but I see so many people often just slotting 5 slots in what appear to be core abilities in their attack chain. 2. Is there a simple solution to slotting bread n butter abilities? I have somewhat of a grasp on ED (which wasn't even present when I first started playing), so I never put more than 3 slots in skills that only required a single enhancement type like build up, hasten or stamina when I was leveling. Is that still the case now that I'm 50 and using IO sets? 3. Should I plan a fresh lvl 50 build that's budget oriented (since I only have ~60mil inf) and functional that I can use to farm for a "best in slot" type of build? Or just go straight for the expensive build and chip away at it one piece at a time? 4. Am I crazy not taking a travel power? I feel like ninja run + sprint wasn't a bad way to get around, especially with temporary jet packs to get you vertical when you need it. And superspeed often seems like too much speed most of the time anyway. 5. I saw someone post a build with Combat Jumping AND Hover. Why would you do that? Is it worth it for the defense bonuses? I have many more questions, but I'll post my build below and hopefully someone can school me on what I'm doing wrong already.
  7. I can't even see Homecoming Beta in the launcher 😧 What am I doing wrong?

    Rad/Elec

Say his name 3 times and he will appear!!! Well if Rad/Elec has been powercrept/normalized, what are you playing now?

    Rad/Elec

15 years ago I played a Rad/Elec based on the official forum user Erratik's build (if that rings a bell with anyone). It was a fun build to solo with, strong AoE, and great survivability between the Rad debuffs and the -end from Elec, and of course Rad brought a lot to the table for groups back then as well. I never got it to 50 back then, and so much has changed due to proliferation and especially due to IO sets (most of which I don't fully understand potential of) with regards to min/max'ing and optimal builds, but I'm curious to know if Rad/Elec has just been completely outclassed by the raw damage of /Fire or the -res of /Sonic. And it sounds like end drain is a laughable secondary effect these days. Can anyone offer some advice on the combo in specific, or the state of Defender secondaries in general?
  10. Big brain change. <3 Homecoming
  11. So I'm someone who played on release, and I've recreated my Rad/Elec that was a strong, but laborious, build back in the day, and I am blown away by the simple quality of life change that makes Rad/ such a joy to play again. I was confused by it at first, wondering why when I arrived at a new pack in DFB were my debuffs just starting to cooldown, but once I realized that anchored debuffs persist on corpses I was blown away. I realize I have played the game in more than a decade, but when was this QoL change implemented? Was it realized relatively early on when the game was alive, or was this something added in only recently?
  12. I want to give a brief intro since I think it will help you nice people better answer my questions. I'm someone who played CoH primarily in the first year of release, never made it to 50 due to just never having the time to level grind in MMOs (also serious alt-itis). I purchased CoV but never got my most played Villain to 50 either. I played a Martial Arts/Super Reflexes Scrapper primarily upon release, and those of us from that time know it was a real feelsbadman.jpg kind of ultra weak build. And though I loved the aesthetic, it took them too long to rework the MA animations. I also tried a BS/DA Scrapper as a consolation and while it was fun and unique and did tons of damage it took me damn near 30 levels to get to a point where endurance wasn't an crippling issue. I thoroughly enjoyed my Rad/Elec Defender's utility, survivability, solo strength, and blaster-like playstyle, but I never made it to end game. I also played AR/Dev Blaster, Fire/Ice Tanker, Earth/SS Controller into the 20s. In CoV I wasn't really enthused by any of the new AT's except for Dominator since they did what Controllers did as well as damage. Fire/Psi was fun since all my friends were gone by this point and I could solo well and probably it ended up being my highest level character in the end. All that said, I'm elated to find the game is back and better than ever! However I've come to find that many of my old beloved builds have been outclassed it seems. Though the nostalgia of recreating my old characters as close to memory is very enjoyable, perhaps this is a good opportunity to branch out and try more of the content added to the game since well... release. So help me understand some things... 1. It seems like everyone plays a Brute. Why play a Scrapper, or a Tanker for that matter? I can see Stalker brings something a little different to the table, but Brute seems to do what those other two melee ATs do, without any of the weaknesses. 2. Why would I play Rad/Elec Defender when I can play Elec/Rad Corrupter and always be scourging? 3. Sentinels. Are they really just intended to be solo friendly Blasters? Is that the whole appeal? Why would you want to be less potent and less vulnerable Blaster and a less tanky and less melee Scrapper? 4. Is it futile to try and compete DPS wise with anything other than Bio Armor? Offensive adaptation seems like a huge balance oversight. Or is that just the result of the end-life power creep of a desperate game? a) Or Titan Weapons for that matter? Or TW/BA? 5. How is Psionic Melee? I always thought Psi damage was super underrated since it is rarely resisted, but that seems like it never came to fruition as a mechanic? And of course the Mass Levitate does smashing... 6. How do my old builds hold up at a glance? a) Seems like Broadsword Scrapper has been outshined as the hard hitting primary. Or should I just play a BS/DA Brute :/ b) Similar to my question above, would my Rad/Elec Defender just end up doing less damage than an Elec/Rad Corrupter without any trade off after considering all the late gamer Enhancement and Incarnate potential (most of which I don't fully understand). And does Sonic Attack just outclass everything since it has -res? c) Is AR just outclassed by Beam Rifle? I got plenty more, but I'll wrap this up. In closing, I don't necessarily have to roll a crazy powergaming min/max build. But I do enjoy understanding the mechanics and pitfalls as well as I can in order to make an informed decision about what to spend my time playing, and of course my initial MA/SR experience weighs heavily on my mind. That, and I read a great post on why SR/MA Tanker makes more sense than MA/SR Scrapper at this point so now I'm all sorts of shook.https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,2637.0.html Thanks in advance for any replies.
  13. What happened to BS? After recreating my BS/DS scrapper it didn't feel worse, but I've been seeing this a lot here. Why is it not the hardest hitting Scrapper Primary any more? Is it a victim of the late game power creep? Did IO sets and incarnates level the playing field or erase its strengths too much? Is it simply the fact that the animations were so slow?
  14. I had no problems downloading and installing (the respective directories both via Cream Soda and Tequila). And the game seems to run fine for the most part, but I have a really peculiar audio issue that I can't figure out. Basically what I'm experiencing is just "half" the sound fx occur. For example, my tier 1 abilities, say for example charged bolt on my rad/elec defender never plays any audio. But the tier 2 ability, lightning bolt in my case, always plays it's sound effect. I've checked this on multiple heroes and powersets and none of the tier 1 abilities play sounds. It appears as though enemy swings aren't always making a sound either. Am I missing something? I've played with the audio settings, tried using speakers and headphones, but it's all the same.
