Hurricane31, What is you're average influence gain per 10 minutes?
-
First off, when you say Fire/Rad, do you mean Fiery Melee/Radiation Armor? Or do you mean, Radiation Melee/Fiery Aura? Second, are you planning to use it as a farmer?

Thank you!

Although I'm using a Rad/Fire brute build (I got from here) in the example above, this post is actually more general---not particular to that build or AT. However, I don't know how to ask the questions I have without having an example and explaining what I'm getting at first. I have made my Rad/Fire brute after that build. I've boosted all of the enhancements that are possible to boost, however there are a few that are not "boostable", but ARE possible to attune: should I attune the unboostable enhancements? I'm going to take a guess and say that I probably should NOT attune any that are in a set (like "Preventive Medicine: Absorb Proc" in the "Healing Flames" power), because I read somewhere that attuned and unattuned enhancements are not considered to be the same set, but separate, so attuning one enhancement of the set but not the others would mess up the set bonuses. Am I correct in my understanding of that? I really don't know about the other enhancements though that are not being used in a set, but just the single enhancement for it's proc. Examples of what I'm talking about: "Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for -Res" in the "Burn" power in the build above "Panacea: +Hit Points/Endurance" in the "Health" power In fact, every proc enhancement in that build is unboostable, but is attuneable. Would it be good to attune those single enhancements like the Panacea proc?

Here is the same build with a change to DNA Siphon (because of @Bopper's advice here). The question is: is the health and endurance gain when using that power worth the drop in defense? Below is an image to easily compare the defense difference.

Alright, after extensive reading on the forums, and experimenting in Mids' Reborn, I've finally made a build, but I can't say I know if I've done things right. That is a mixture of @Kanil's awesome build (here), @Warlawk's Rad/Fire brute build (here [which I've copied to my Rad/Fire brute farmer and have enjoyed immensely]), and a bit of my own personal touches. I would like to softcap defense for S/L (I'm still 11% away), but do not see how I could do that without greatly decreasing DPS. Defensive sweep does bump smashing defense to 47% and melee to 53%, which is why I decided to use it for a LotG mule instead of Vengeance.

Thank you!

It appears to me that the common practice is to put "Panacea: +Hit Points/Endurance" on the "Inherent: Fitness: Health" passive auto-power. Considering that Bio has the passive auto-power "Inexhaustible", would it at least be as good to slot it with that enhancement instead? Would it possibly even be better considering that Inexhaustible is a heal and endurance power, not just a heal power like Health is? (That would surely save one enhancement slot that could be used elsewhere, but I just don't know if the proc would work as well in Inexhaustible as it does in Health.) OR Is it still best to slot Panacea in Health as usual and put something else in Inexhaustible?

@Kanil has graciously shared his build with me, and has gladly given me permission to share it publicly here. Watch him in action in the following video! To me, that is AWESOME! After I asked him for permission, he said he'd "...like to see folks pick it apart and improve it"

"Is it worth catalysing ATOs?" Is it possible to catalyze an ATO if the enhancement is not your character's AT? If yes, how? EDIT: never mind. I figured it out. 🙂

Thank you! That really did simplify and clarify a lot for me! In fact, as I was reading what you wrote there, other things I've been reading started making more sense. Awesome examples! Thanks again!

Thank you all! I've finished reading both of those posts you linked to, and they've helped me. I spent a looong time yesterday and looked through every one of the 32 pages of the brute section of these forums. There are very few TW/Bio builds posted (this one and this one are interesting, but seem not quite "finished"). Funny enough, in doing that I learned some other things from other posts not particular to TW/Bio (like this) that I might try. With this thread I was hoping to see a few "finished builds" (I understand if "finishing" a build may not be completely possible in a developing game like this, but you know what I mean), and hear the stories of the players who've played them about what they've done and what they like; that way I could better plan my own (something I've learned from other things is that math is great, but real experience doesn't always happen as it looks on paper [or in a simulator]---but maybe I'm wrong in that assumption for Mids and CoH). I do have Mids, and it IS awesome---I don't mean to put it down at all. I also looked through every page of the Pylon Damage Thread and saw this awesome video. He didn't post his build, but I've sent him a PM; maybe he'll share it with me. I'm glad you wrote that, because after reading the "Why is the softcap so important" blog post, I would have probably tried to get positional defense softcapped. (Now I'm guessing that would be a mistake.) Reaching 45% defense to smashing/lethal/fire/etc., and perma-hasten, and Spiritual Alpha sounds great to me! I will shoot for that. What I really want to do is be able to solo GM's, and I'm guessing that will get me there. I don't think I'll have problems with influence once I know what to build. I have enough for one top tier build. I've gone through all of Robotech_Master's guides, so have a fairly OK understanding of the market. I have a good amount of influence from the market, and a lot of merits from getting all of the exploration badges (on all heroes, villains, and Praetorian zones) including the shard dimensions (I hate that place). In a team, I can contribute fairly well (even in +4x8), but I have to run in the "Defensive Adaption" stance most of the time, and I want to get to where I'm in the "Offensive Adaption" stance 99% of the time. I have all IO's (normal) enhancements on my powers, no sets yet. I have no travel powers (I buy jetpack at P2W). I have level 3 Musculature Alpha, Storm Lore, and Ageless Destiny, and T1 Ion Judgement. I've read all these posts on enhancements: (1) "A guide to IOs", (2) "Nic's Guide to IO's with Impact", (3) "Attuning/Catalyzing Enhancements", (4) "Attuned Enhancements and When To". I've also read main posts and a bit more in the "Farm Fresh Builds" thread, even though I'm not planning to farm with this character, as I was told that some of the stuff there would still help me, and I think it has. I'm not writing that stuff to brag, just to show that I've been looking into things, but I honestly am still having a very difficult time understanding enhancement sets, especially taking into consideration what you said about it not always being the best thing to slot all 6 of a set, how different sets affect different types of powers, "mules", "frankensteining", and even exemplaring (less worried about exemplaring, but I understand it is part of things to an extent). I am beginning to understand some though, just a bit slower than I'd like. Thank you all again for your posts! Hopefully a few great builders will share here; but if not, this has still helped me a lot!

I just finished reading "Why is the softcap so important?" and it made me curious: is there a "hardcap"? What is the difference in a softcap and a hardcap? (Sorry if this is an extreme newbie question, but that's what I am in regards to this stuff.)

This is for you awesome, experienced players out there able to do stuff like this guy who soloed an MoITF without using inspirations: what is YOUR top-of-the-line build for a Titan/Bio brute? (I know that @Werner's build is Katana/Dark, but I would like to know about Titan/Bio brute builds.) What makes you proud of it (or what awesome things have you been able to do with it)? Please share your build, and explain its purpose/what-makes-it-great. I'm looking for an ultimate goal build---something to strive for---so don't worry about influence cost (however, if you do know the approximate total cost and would like to share that, great!). I'm most interested in how you slot your build enhancement-wise; however, if you want to include what incarnate powers you use, that'd be great too! (Please feel free to also share any other tips particular to your build/playstyle if you like.)
