  1. When I created my first toon, I used Supernatural Face 10:

When I later wanted to create a second toon that essentially a non-supernatural variant (i.e., family relation), I was pleased to find that there was a corresponding Face 3:

Though I suppose that I had a softer option with Face 12:

My point being that slight variances were available, which you wouldn't immediately appreciate until you were trying to be creative.

Later in the game, I actually arranged two costumes for a toon, one being "relaxed" using Face 12, but the other being his "business face" using Supernatural Face 10, with a mild body aura added.

  2. Ah, it's coming back to me, thank you. For those that are not familiar, Taxibot Belle is at bottom-center in that last screenshot. And that looks like another of Gata's alts behind her (the blue and light blue, with checkers). Was that Ms. Cats to Belle's right?

Looking at your screenshots, I realize that my JBQ uniform should have large shoulder pads, unlike in my Homecoming screenshot here.

I had a collection of macros with the historical information to share with folks on badge tours.

I remember if you put the recall friend target just right, you could zone a fare on landing.

    good times

I'll let you all in on a little secret. Not all taxibots were comfortable, how should I say, putting themselves out there to help with tours, or just standing duty in costume shop zones. It was intimidating. So it was a well done time for having everyone's participation, moreso when they chose to just go stand duty and help people more-or-less at random.

Badge tours were demanding, so I'm pretty sure I'd use macros (though I'd write my own flavour text). However, I didn't use macros when doing interviews because that felt impersonal. I had a bullet-point list for what candidates needed to know, and then just typed fast, ad libbing as needed.

    To, and from, missions 🚕

It was quite interesting to coordinate badge tours, having a taxibot at each of a zone's badge locations, forming a chain whereby six players could be handed off between each taxibot in the chain.

When we had enough taxibots, we could cover as much as three zones in that fashion (I was Johnny Taxibot on Infinity).

Unfortunately, due to the game gradually being made easier, and online maps being convenient for referencing badge locations, there was less need for taxibots, per se.

Hey!  I remember you.  Oh, look, here we are completing a task force.  Since I took this screenshot, my character is the one with no name over his head.  That's my ice/SS tank Staff Sgt Frost.

Sure, I remember you, Ironblade. You participated regularly, though that wasn't one of your usual outfits. I remember you as wearing blue armour and (light blue?) helmet, wielding a sword.

In that screenshot, the winged heroine was Gata, who was originally organizing Saturday task forces (though I might have been the organizer by the time you made that screenshot). I met Taxibot Belle on Gata's task forces, and I would sit in when Belle was interviewing candidates to become Taxibots.

I'd actually watched Belle conduct the interview process a few times, before I decided to construct my son, Johnny Taxibot, without realizing that I'd inadvertently created a reference to Johnny Cab from the film, Total Recall.

  6. Sounds more like reasonable limitations, in order to maintain balance in your life. Playing a game is best treated as a reward for going good work (i.e., chores and job).

So I'm more likely to play for a bit at day's end, but go to bed at my usual time.

And I'll probably just have a single toon, rather than juggle different characters.

Aside from that, I'll create costume variants for trivial things like aura on/of, or formalwear.

It just feels like so much of the achievement milestones have been done away with. Such as taking a while to level up. Obtaining a travel power at level 14 after a prerequisite power. Getting a cape, or an aura at higher levels after doing a story mission. It feels like everything is served up straight away. Even little things like not having to cross Steel Canyon to switch monorail lines.

I completely get why that's the case - and I'm not complaining about it. These things are great when you're a new player on your first toon like I effectively am, experiencing zones and missions for the first time. But when you're on your 10th character, it's tedious to have to go through all that faff when you just want to make costumes and try out power sets at higher levels. And spending ages having to switch between monorail lines or rely on Sprint until level 14 probably becomes a bore.

But still... there's just a little bit of charm lost in the process of adding these quality of life additions - including making it really easy to fly through content - for me.

I remember that the cape restriction was a bother to rp'ers because they would create concept characters that would spend more time interacting with other characters, but be extremely slow to level. So they would wear trenchcoats as a placeholder for capes.

For me, I would do a considerable about of exemplaring because it was fun playing with new players that needed a hand with their missions. But this required being careful about the order in which you chose your powers when levelling, so that you had certain powers available at low level.

  8. Hi all,

I'm Johnny B. Quantum (global name, main toon) originally from Infinity, now on Everlasting.

I had created maybe three additional toons: Golden Man (tank to play with my gf), Johnny Energia (red-side tank to try out that content), and Johnny Taxibot (a second-generation taxibot, with Belle and TonyV being first-generation).

I'm not really one for wanting to manage lots of toons, so I'll probably be sticking with JBQ. I'm kinda re-learning the game, atm.

Hope people have been doing well.
