  1. Mercy: Avatar of Stheno

    Port Oaks: Ghost Pirate Ship

    Sharkhead: Extremely Large Slag Golem

I like these ideas! Trouble with Stheno in Mercy..its not really till you do the high level snake arc that you see the ArchVillian (great arc, and the snakes are some of the nasiest things to fight!)...but it could work.

To the person talking about the CoT Behemoth GM..there IS ArchA, the Archvillian. He pops up in a few high level redisde arc, the coolest being a fight on thorn isle. CoT also have Caleb..but I have only seen him twice!

I think a DE GM would suit Founders Falls more than Kronos, as there is not much in FF that says Malta to me..but a DE GM breating throw the hazard zone gate from Eden..makes sense!

Saint Martial..a Wailer GM. Why would a Jade Spider be in SM? I don't see it. But a Giant Wailer..yes! I reckon a Jade Spider would be awesome invading Atlas or Steel Canyon (or SKyway? That leads to Siren's Call I think?). Likewise, some kind of Longbow GM storming the Rogue isles. Most GM's are just Monsters (I guess Jurassic is DE and Kronos is Malta) but having the other side soprta invade would be awesome.

Speaking of invaions..we have Rikti. ZOmbies. Nemesis. Why don't we have Longbow and Arachnos invading the oppoiite sides, with big enough groups giving chances to spawn Hero and Archvillain enemies.

I don't think Ms. Liberty should change sides.  What would be interesting is if Dominatrix snuck into our dimension and started committing crimes, posing as Ms. Liberty, though.  Maybe add in some vigilante and rogue contacts and flesh out that aspect of the game a bit more?

I like this idea! Similar to the Arcs with our Dopplegangers. We could have a new (Sig Hero) Name TaskForce, where the contact (in world modle and icon in the text) is the 'right person,' and teh arc starts out all heroic and stuff. Slowly, some of the missions take on a more villainous slant (kill someone, instead of arrest), and the character modle changes into their evil version.

  3. I started in CoV and love Redise. But in general, all the content is harder. Lots of this has to do with Longbow (that can still utterly wreck you) and lots of Arachnos. Sad fact is that its hard to get a DFB (at least on Torch) on redside.

Just a random idea. I have recently been playing JA3. In JA2, you get teh sorta 'character' builder at the start, where you answer various questions and it influences your traits. Maybe something like that, but all it does it determine which side you start on, Blue or Red (or even Gold?). It would need to be override-able, so people didnt feel forced, but it could be fun. Some of the questions could even be references to story arcs we come across later on each side.

  4. I just downloaded the updated Maps..and it is still broken (only for AP). I got them via the CityModder program and the adding the new Vidiotmaps from there. Then I removed the

old versions as per your Vidiot Map thread

shown below..and that removed the overlay in every zone? So now I am even more confused, Haha

Old versions of vidiotmaps were installed to the following folders:

    <CoH Root Folder>\data\texture_library\MAPS
    <CoH Root Folder>\data\texture_library\P_MAPS
    <CoH Root Folder>\data\texture_library\V_MAPS
  5. I think this would be a good idea. Make it optional. Start of the TYF, you all select Yes/No. Someone at the end picked YEs and starts slagging a player? Where is the poof?

And as others have said, who cares. CoX has never been like WoW, where no gear/dps/power pick will get you booted (aside from the Original RSF).

It would be cool (i think) to see things like total damage output, damage taken (or deflected, with def?), buffs/debuffs applied, etc.

  6. One thing I remember from KM back on Live (I havent made a new one) was ConcStrike looking utterly stupid a lot of the time. The animation itself is great..if you are literally doing it from a T-Pose. Im you are jumping or leaning forward/back a bit, the animation just gets borked and looks really silly

  7. My Demon/Dark MM has a pretty huge bug with the +Damage values for the T2 Pets, teh Demons

Currently the power is slotted with:

    Sup MoS Acc/End 33.1% each

    Sup Mos Proc 0.0%

    Sup MoS Acc/Dam 33.1$

    Sup Mos Damn 53.0%

Now just with that slotting, the Damage should be around 80ish%. However it sits at about 60%

So I slotted both an Acc/Damn Hami (33%) AND a lvl 50 Dmage IO (42.4%) which should be about 150% Before ED, and easily around 100% with ED

But again, my total damage + is only 71.3%

Thats like a third of my most damaging pets 😞

    In COntast, the Demonlings

    Sup Com Acc/Dam 33%

    Sup CoM Damn End 33%

    Sup CoM Proc

    Sup Com Acc/damn/rech 26.5%

    SoulALl Proc

    Lvl 50 Dmaage IO 42.2

So thats about 120% before ED..and bang on 100.3% after

That is a huge different, when one power has way more damage slotted, and is showing less!

  8. I was just about to do the WST on my new troller today (silver mantis, lvl 20-25) and I thought..hang on, with the new power levels, I can respec and get my Gremlins at 26 (i think?) and use em on the TF!

Then I was about to respec and thought..Yes, I want to respec everything, pick the same powers again with exactly the same slotting AND rearrange my trays (the worst) just to get pets earlier. Nope.

So..would it be possible to have a Power Levels Only respec..You are 'locked' into teh exact same powers and slotting, but it lets us rejig the levels we took said powers. That would save so much more time.

As well as a respec that KEEPS the damn tray set up. It saves what your layout is, then matches it when done (maybe if you dont have all teh same powers, those icons/powers just arent there?)

  9. Gonna test this soon.

To echo some other comments, it seems really silly to get rid of all the -regen and tie it to personal attacks. Regardless of how teh DPS works out, removing a big feature and locking it behind personal attacks (which I dont want, would never use, and cant fit in the build anyway) seems like a bad idea.

Why not have the -regen spead over the pets (since all the prea robot attacks do -regen) or so the -regen comes from pets OR attacks?

  10. Any power set that has a skippable power is not designed well. Powers can be great, average, or situational. Skippable just isnt good at all. Even with one slot, other confuse powers are perfectly fine.

Maybe poor design is too stong of a claim. I havent played the set yet, but I know (from other sets with 'normal' confuses) that one doing damage would turn me right off. In fact, most of the powers in teh set have, being cones.

I'd just be happy when I play a support toon that I didn't have to rebuff everybody every 60-120 seconds, I mean, seriously, what's wrong with making the buffs from buff classes last 15 minutes or more?

    I get what you mean..but..

It is a support toon. You play support but dont wanna use support powers? Thats like playing a tank and saying you dont want to jump in first. Or playing a blaster and saying 'why cant i just have 8 damage toggles, so i dont have to keep using powers over and over.'

Play Support, so do the supporting.

When the live devs wanted to revamp villain patron pools and we saw what they did on live (well, live beta) with replacing powers "that weren't popular" or "nobody took," the pitchforks and boiling tar came out.

I dont remember this. Or I forgot. Was it just before shutdown?

Personally, I don't think the issue is the empathy set itself - I think the issue is how *some* people take it and only employ the healing abilities, foregoing the set's other benefits and ignoring their secondary, (generally if a defender), entirely.  I'm not against buffing the set inasmuch as more emphasis could be placed on just how useful the other abilities are.  That being said, it would be cool if recovery and regeneration auras could simply be made into a "affects all teammates" type of ability, so such an empath no longer needs to announce "Gather for RA!"

This is a good point. My very first hero (comnig from CoV) was an emp, and I have a very strict view of how I think an Emp, especially an emp fender should be played. Basically, if you aren't keeping the entire team cm'd and fort'd (obviously at lower levels you can only get 3-5 people with almost constant Fort)..you are doing it wrong. Sure, if a small team, you can attack but in a full team, literally nothing you could do (perhaps aside from sonic attacks for -res) is more important than giving the entire team +def acc and damage, and immunity to Mez.

Yes, it would be pretty strong, intentionally so. But if Time Defenders can do practically the same defense buffs not just to themselves but to an entire team (or even league) all at once, on top of all the other debuffs and buffs they get, I don't think letting Empathy characters use Fort on themselves is going to break anything new.

Agreed about Time Fenders. But time wants people in teh thick of things, for the debuffing. Also, I'd argue its actually hard to make sure you hit an entire team with Farsight, as its going of every 120 secs (ish), and you know theres always gonna be a few who dont get there in time. Whereas with Fort..its Ranged, and you never have to get close to anyone. My emp (as stated above) never attacks, so I am literally never being attacked, as thus..there is no need at all for Self Fort. The only time (aside from weird damage auras etc) I take damage is when using..

Never taken Absorb Pain on any of my empathy toons, never will. Combining resurrection with absorb pain just means "you're dead".

Madess. Not taking the most powerful heal in game, and one thank makes EMp unique by having 2 ranged heals?

Back to the Original ideas put forward:

I like the idea of Healing Aura being faster and giving some End. 8 May be too much though?

Taking away the Rez and combo-ing with AB? No Thanks. I reckon all the rez needs is maybe a minor fort+cm effect for the revived person, just to give a moment to toggle up, or get safe.

+ Effects on the Auras. Def a good idea, and makes them stand out more from Barrier incarnates.

Again, not a fan at all of Self Fort, but thats my playstyle. I also just dont see it from a thematic point..the Emp, who is all about helping, giving themself a buff. I like my Adrenaline Boost.

Correct. RDR is a function of Damage Resistance. Why the OG devs didn't make DDR a function of Defense is beyond

I don't know..it doesnt seem the same to me.

A Def based set with 45% def gets (whatever value im making up) 50% DDR. SO if they get hit with an attacking doing -50% def..then only take a -25% hit. So down to 20% def.

A Res Based set with 50% res gets hit with a -30%res attack (Nullifer grenades being the most common)..and their res going right down to -20%. AT least, that is how -res USED to work (I havent tested it recently).

Just stating that RDR is a function of Damage Resists makes no sense, especially when there is no such thing (in combat atts) as Resistance Debuff Resists. -Def, regen, rech and rec, sure..but not Resist. Stating a resist based set 'resists' -res, is like saying a def set should be 'resisting' -def, JUST because it has def in the first place. Which may have been teh case way back before DDR came about, but not now. In fact, some sets (like invul) have been buffed to include more DDR, because they got debuffed to easy.

But according to RDR being a function of Resist (that is, you get it magically just by having resists), then why even have DDR?

Using my example with numbers above, the resist set gets hit by a larger total penalty overall..because there is no such thing as RDR. Sure, having the base res of 50% makes you more survivable than a squishy with 0%, being hit with -30, but its still a much more noticeable drop than the Def based toon getting hit with a bigger debuff in the first place, and ending up with the same overall % stat.

  14. I agree that the set feels slow, even if data actually shows it isnt that bad. And really, people are gonna worry about either side, perception or performance, so its an issue for most players of the set.

I also agree that all the powers should give at LEAST -damage to enemies, all the time. No other set has effects (like fire dot, dark -to hit etc etc) that simply dont do anthing unless X power is active. Of course, there are combo type sets, but even those combo powers still do other things without the combo going.

Concentrated Strike is also just meh compared to  other big hitters. Slow and feels even slower, plus the animation can look utterly awful, if you have a small toon of happened to turn as you hit it..the animation basically bends you in half.

I like the idea of Power SIphon, and stacks of PS, making attacks faster.

  15. Totally agree with the OP. The new Posi1/2 are both great and varied and a great length. You can easily do both in under 30, speeding (or just with a great team), or go slow and everyone gets a few levels. Same with Penny.

Obviously Synapse is just an utter POS. It is easily the least common (at least to me) tf being formed, and the hardest to get people for. Numina seriously needs a revamp too, as the entire TF, bar the hunts, can be done in like 20 mins or less.

Manti and Cit also have the problem of nearly every mission being the damn same. Go in, kill everyone or kill a boss.

Granted, many of the red side SFs are similar, but they all have varied maps and mobs at least, so they feel less samey.

I have zero sympathy for anyone that acknowledges KB is their issue with a power but simultaneously refuses to slot a KB->KD. That’s ridiculous. The perfect solution is right in front of you but you’re going to let the power be worse for you because you have to stick to your principles about a supposed slot tax of some sort? Either convert it down to KD or don’t complain, those are your rational choices.

Perfect solution? Given the divide between hating kb and loving it, the PERFECT solution would have been not to make the power have such a stupid amount of kb? I mean..look at energy blast again. hardly popular is it.

Hardly my principles either. The power out of the box, with that KB, is mechanically shitty. Who wants to spread a mob all over?

And yeah, it is a slot tax if I have to slot an IO because the power works in a non helpful way.
