... because it's a game that's saying "hey, you can run this content you haven't done?"

It is also saying the TF is Level 35 - 50.

Considering 50 is the max, pretty reasonable to assume it contains stuff challenging to 50s. And therefore at least difficult for non 50s. The guy coulda just taken 5 seconds to ask about the TF in help chat, before starting. And..the chances that the other 7 players were all sub 50 and had never done it? Pretty low. Not that it fully excuses the TF 'letting' you start it sub 50, but starting something you have never done, knowing its gonna be a challenge, then being upset when it turns out to be just that (well impossible in fact. lol)..not much sympathy here.

Prior to sunset, it was level 45+.  Now for some unfathomable reason, it's level 35+.

I think it was a silly idea to drop the reqs down to 35. It is MEANT to be end game content, clearly. 99% of people running it if they are lower than 40 are just trying to coast along for some XP, especially since the rewards at 50 are much better, being incarnate stuff. I didn't actually realise it was 35+, until someone on Help awhile back was saying the Mitos were unkillable, since they started the tf with a level 39 leader. In this case, the person WAS actually a newish player and had no idea what the tf contained (which begs the question, why would you do an unknown TF at such a low level, with no research).

A warning or something should appear when starting, at the very least.

Alternatively, reduce the minimum spawn level for Weakened Hamidon down to 35 as well.

And make what is already a trivial encounter even less epic? Lets not. It IS Hami. Weak Hami, but still hami. He should not be below 50.

I just see no legitimate reason why a DFB Trial must be formed in Atlas Park

I am not saying it has to be. But, by your own experience, forming one in the Sewers sucks. With a pretty obvious reason..hardly anyone does. You go own about how the sewers are accessible from other zones, which is true. But its still far and away easier to form a Sewer team, all go to one single zone (which is nearly always atlas, cause..you know..new toons, start there) and LFG start.

By your own admission, you dislike Atlas. Which wins out, your desire for the badges, or the zone hate?

It's not red side, but at least it isn't Atlas Park and I meet people more than halfway.

What is wrong with forming one IN Atlas? Besides you seem not too like it? Your sewer forming one sounds like a complete waste of time (sorry). Is it that painful to form one in Atlas?

  5. I do feel your pain about redside..but..

Can't you just swap sides LATER and get them Blueside? Since you dont seem to care about xp etc etc, why is that a problem?

Or do it redside and simply ask people to help on a badge run? I cant imagine you haven't tried that..but I also cant imagine that EVERY single time you failed getting the badges. 5 people is plenty for a badge run, and the only hard one would be the 'defeat two shiven Avs together-sih.' Also, pretty sure that one would be literally impossible solo, for almost every toon.

I don't know about you, but I would rage quit on the spot and move onto something else.

Then you really would not have given the game any proper consideration. I mean..sure, dying with no chance (+25s) is bad..but again, no debt. NO set backs at all, besides ending up 5 foot away in the hosp. Also, considering nothing else in that area of Mercy (and the rest of it) is over level 10(ish), you'd have to be a bit of an idiot to snap judge the entire GAME, and think that mobs 20 levels higher than a zone, just wander around.

Also, I don't know about YOU, but if I was a new played and died that way, Id be asking about it in the Help channel, and its a certainty that someone would say 'oh it is an ambush from a higher mission, dont worry about it.'

  7. When I saw the title for this, I totally was NOT thinking of the ambush at Kalinda. Sure, mobs spawing in a level 1 zone are bad but..how much does one death mean then? They wont be getting debt anyway. And if they die, they spawn literally 5 foot away, so its not like they are suddenly far away from the hub area.

Added to the fact that Mercy is far and away less populated than Atlas. At least on Torchbearer. Although..can you image how much outrage there would be if a similar thing caused ambushes by Ms Lib?!

The actual ambush in the Shockstorm mission is just about the WORST one in the game. I am trying, but cant think of one. Constant mobs of never ending longbow, that follow the players anywhere. ANYWHERE. And Longbow are already tough enough. I cant think of a single blueside tf with an ambush on that scale. Funny, that.

    1. Casting Resurrect on a fallen ally automatically applies (unslotted) Fortitude and Clear Mind to the target.

    2. Clear Mind duration increased to 3 minutes.

    3. Fortitude casts as an AoE that effects up to 6 allies. Duration, recharge, and end cost unchanged.

    4. Casting Adrenalin Boost gives the Caster 100% +Recharge for 20 seconds.

    1. CM, yes. Fort, no. If someone died, they shouldn't be rewarded with a great buff. Either the emp or they did something silly.

    2. No. No, and no. There are already way to many shitty emps never using this power.

    3. AoE PBU fort? with the same stats (unless you mean lowering the def value)? Way too good.

    4. Hmmm. Maybe not quite so good? I think some caster benefit would be nice.

  9. I don't know..this sounds ok as an idea, but in practice? People have varied definitions of 'hard content.' I mean, look at Incarnate Trails. Most leagues will smash em, but I have seen some go really bad because people were underpowered or clueless.

Also some combinations of powers, on an AV, are just utterly stupid.

As an example. An AE mission with a WP tank av. Mind you, this was back when AE was new, so the set may have been toned down. But I did the arc with teh following team: Brute, Blaster, Kin, TWO Rad corrs and a COld corr...and we couldnt kill him. His regen was just insane. Something like that coupled with some of your suggestions? Eeew.

ANother example. Look at Reichsman. That fight is NOT hard at all. He is just a huger huge bag of HP. The fight does not come of as epic or challenging to me, just a time sink because some Devs could not think of a better finale.

    This made me think...

What if Tar Patch and other "Ground Target Buff/Debuff" effects were given a sort of Faraday Cage treatment? Strip the Cooldown off of it, but make each cast destroy the last one.

That way you can -always- put down a Tar Patch, at a cost, but -only- one at a time?

I like this idea. Tar Patch and Freezing Rain/Sleet are basically the same, but FR does kb TOO and stays 'on' a mob even it it runs away. That said, I think Tar Patch being refreshable might be a bit too good, with no cooldown. Those are debuffs have recharges that reflect how good the debuff is (I assume).

I'd argue (and I am arguing) that it's literally against the entire purpose of the AT to improve their ability to solo.

They why did we get the Fender team size damage buff? Not to mention sets like Sonic having most of their powers UNUSABLE solo. Which makes zero sense considering teh damage buff.

That's just giving everyone status protection which has been said no

    Clarion says HI!

Sure, Clarion is 50+, but at 50, with everyone having all their powers and slots (not too mention many people being tricked out to the gills), being Mezzed is, in nearly all cases, much much less of a problem than being mezzed at level 20 with low hp and unslotted powers. Of course Clarion is for Incarnate stuff, but we can still use it down to level 45. I am not arguing that every AT should get Mez prot, but your argument as to why NO support set should ever get a buff makes no sense.

The suggestion boils down to Incarnates and Inventions.

And the rest on that post. I agree that it can be really frustration to try use debuffs on 50+ teams, where everything goes splat so fast. But even so, I dont find those toons of mine useless. The toggle debuff anchors 'staying' does help a fair bit. Unless you always forget to detoggle it like I do. lol.

In regard to giving passive powers for taking buffs..I quite like that idea. But not as passives. I see enough useless therms/sonics/colds/emps, who never use their buffs. Should they get a bonus just for taking said powers and never actually using them? Just about all ally buffs have a 2 mins duration, so why not give the caster a small bonus when they use said power, that also lasts a similar time? That encourages them to actually 'support' a team.

We've also removed level scaling from these powers, meaning their base and maximum speeds are now fixed (at the previous level 50 values) at all levels. However, you will still increase in speed as you level and gain more slots, more powerful enhancements and eventually set bonuses.

Kinda struggling to understand why this was done.

Not that it is a bad thing, travel powers being as fast as the current lvl 50 max. But..does it make any sense? How does a NEW super powered dude, just picknig up SS, have its speed at max (well the current unenhanced max)?

And how does gaining more slots boost their speed? Unless you mean gain more slots then USE them on said travel powers, with +speed enhancements?

Out of all my toons, here and on Live, I NEVER slotted any travel power for +speed (besides a couple of toons with fly and hover, because those have god awful speeds out of the box). A few other toons got incidental +speed, from set bonuses, but I never went out of my way to slot a straight +speed into a travel.

T9s in PVE: Useless T9s in PVP: Essential

Are they useful in PvP? AN honest question. I have not pvp'd since Live, but I did back there, before and after the big changes from Castle ( I think?).

Prior to the changes, you would see the odd brute running around using Power Surge but it was hardly a super common thing. And hardly required. Sure it made them harder to kill for that period, but totally not unkillable. Even with the mostly maxed resists, scrappers could still (and I assume do) crit you for 'full' damage, blasters hit for some unresistable damage, and fender debuffs are unresistable too.

I did see quite a few SR scrappers, including one who basically never left the hero base without Elude on. And he died a lot, even then (duke it out a bit, till he is feeling unkillable, then pop FoN and floor him).

When the changes hit, most tier9s were way less useful, with all the Diminished Returns. I forget the exact numbers, but I am sure than Power Surge, instead of capping you, would be giving like 5-10% resist instead.

Perhaps the T9s got tweaked again? I just cant see them being required, since everyone can get Phase SHift (which basically IS required from what I recall, and the temp one requires no power pick!) and the advantage Ranged ATs.

Most of the end problems I encounter on my Storm characters are from Lightning Storm, which has a ridiculous end cost. On my Ill/Storm, it took about 25% of my end bar, or at least an enormous portion of it. What makes it worse, a lot of people - including me - prefer to proc load it which leaves little room for END redux enhancements.

I don't mind the blue bar problems though, it would be too powerful of a set without it

All of this is counting the obvious of knowing when to (not) use Hurricane, though

Agreed. For the damage LS does..the end cost is insane. Even more considering it is static. VS an AV, its nice, but a normal mod that will die in 5-15 secs..not so much.

Forts have massive burst damage potential.

Really? With their single BIG damage attack, the nuke? Which trades damage for the slow? And Forts dont even get the +rech power.

In no way at all do Forts have huge burst damage. Or you may as well say that every corr and fender can do massive bursts, since they have a nuke. I wouldnt call a 'once every 30-45 secs (at BEST) power giving said AT 'massive burst damage.'

Night widows are superior to all mace Banes. Both fall far noticeably behind behind Forts and Crabs.

ASsuming you are basing that on actual numbers, which is fine. I think giving Banes a proper AoE (crowd control is awesome, but its no PBAoe) like WHirling Mace (which bane spider bosses use!) would help a lot. Also making the activation on Surveillance WAY quicker.

  18. God yes. Not just fitness, but increase the run speed. I get they are slow so you read the text, but who wants to read the text over and over and OVER again when you do them on an alt?

Case in point, the Sister Solaris personal one..takes like 5 days to waddle through the huuuge cavern.

Honestly, after doing that one once, I wait 3 days and just auto in, every time.

  19. Just testing the SS mechanic. The 'super jump' after running a bit is SO awesome. But there is no visual indicator to show when I have the momentum built up. Wasn't there meant to be a yellow ring on the SS icon?

Oh duh. Nevermind, now I see it. The yellow ring around a yellow icon (that also has the usual circling toggle animation) is not really obvious. I was looking for it, and missed it at first! Perhaps it should be a ring on contrasting color? Bright red or orange maybe.
