For anyone desperately trying to plan out your character, give the Pine's Hero Builder a try. It is similar to Mids, but has all of the I25 changes incorporated. You can plan your build all the way through Incarnate powers, and I/O sets if you so desire. It can easily be found by Googling "Pines Hero Builder", and grabbing the download link. I had my misgivings about it coming from a Reddit URL, but I downloaded it, and it's fine.

I, for one, lament the fracturing of the community that has occurred. We were without the game for 7 years, and when it came back, there were almost immediately disagreements about how things should go behind the scenes, and the recrimination about the very existence of the SCORE server during that time; leading some groups to go their own way, to do it their own way. I don't begrudge them the freedom to do so, but I still wish we were ALL playing in one place, and going in the same direction. We are not a large enough community to survive long term if there is not some unity. Perhaps there is still a chance that will come later, but in the meantime, the player-base on Homecoming is almost 10,000 on a daily basis. So, finding a team for street sweeping, doors, Task Forces, Trials, AE or any darned other thing you can think of will always be possible with that many folks around. You might have to occasionally make your own team, rather than waiting, or relying on others to do it for you. But, the option, and the resources are always out there.

I too give some thought to the precarious nature of all of this, knowing something catastrophic might happen, and all of my beloved characters would cease to exist again. I take solace in knowing that CoH will never disappear from this Earth again, now that the code is free from it's former confines. While the thought of starting over again is a bit daunting, I'd do it in a New York minute rather than forgo playing at all. I am enjoying immensely what we have, and if it all starts from scratch tomorrow, then so be it. I'd love it if there were a way to back-up my characters, and from what I've heard here, it is being considered. That's good enough for me to relax, and keep forging ahead with no worries one way, or the other.

Awesome guys! I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere! In my world, there is no other game, and in CoH, there is no other place to play other than Homecoming!

If you have recreated a dozen or more characters from the good old days before shutdown, as I have; an easy way to avoid being marked inactive is move your characters around to new Day Job locations weekly. You get the badge, start earning another, and keep your name.
