  1. The request is simply and 100% this:

When you are playing 100% alone.

You're level 30 plus (this is when playing alone at all gives you trash xp returns)

You don't set anything plus or minus or increase your team size.

Then is when I think the game could use an XP boost.

I don't need a bunch of other suggestions about altering that to change the outcome.

IF you don't like the request fine. Close the threat but that is my request and and only that.

If you want to level faster don't play alone?  Set the spawns higher so you get higher concentrations of mobs to kill?  Etc.

After the server move you can increase your xp gain from the P2W vendor for free.  Those xp boosts are having their cost removed.

Adjusting how the entire xp system works because you don't want to use any of the options already present though just makes no sense.

  2. You can still get random common salvage with tickets. For rare salvage you need reward merits from story arcs. Its pretty cheap in terms of merits, and there are only 3 or 4 choices so odds are good to get the one you want (of course, I just spent 35 merits to get the one I wanted, as I got 2 of every other piece on the list first). In fact, with 10 merits you just get 2, if neither is the one you need sell them both and buy the one you want, with nearly 1 million inf profit.

From what I've seen, I don't see any reason loot wise to bother with AE. Story arc rewards are far better.

10 merits for 2 pieces of salvage is 2 million influence.

Better to spend those 10 merits for 30 enhancement coverters and sell those for 6 million influence and just buy the salvage

  3. It's true it's unnecessary to facility paly together, but I think that for the people who used this feature, often couples, there was a certain thrill of being completely in-sync. You'd always ding at the same moment while playing together, for instance. I definitely knew many people who used it, I even used it with a couple friends who I arranged to just play a certain character with. For instance I had a friend who I played with who made a fire/kin at the same time as me, and we designed them as genie sisters. One time one of our friends on the server got stuck with a tough mission - an AV I think - and I logged on and helped with it, just that mission specifically. The leveling pact made sure that I remained right in step with my friend. (I think the no xp feature was created around this time or right after leveling pacts. That would also be an option in this situation now but I think when they went in, it was not.)

Yeah I was using it with a friend when it broke as well.  It's nice, but it definitely shouldn't ever stop anyone from teaming or playing togethor.

  4. I was thinking about this yesterday.  I have not played one of my toons because my wife has more limited play times.

    Thanks for the update all!

Honestly while nice its not a huge deal.  You can always exemplar down to her level, or sk her up to yours and still team up.  So its a nice feature, but its hardly a big loss if we never get it back as CoH has one of the best teaming systems out of any MMO's.

  5. Back in Issue 20.5, single-target buffs were changed to be made AoE to help reduce the insane wait time on setup time for groups.  However, Masterminds never got this change with their pets to help their wait time.  Most MM Tier 2 henchmen have buff powers that give survivability to all the henchmen, and even to the Mastermind!  It's the same reason they gave their "Upgrade" powers AoE as well, to reduce just....waiting, for no reason.

The only obstacle I could see with this change, is making sure the AoE buffs don't affect other teammates.  You'd have to make it so the power can only affect the MM and their henchmen.

Most henchman buffs DO effect team mates.  I think only robotics shields don't work on others.  I know demon's shields do work on team mates.  Plus the pets bubble really quickly and automatically renew it when it wears off so there is no waiting.

  6. Signature arc missions = 20 merits per mission once per week (5 if you do again inside a week)

Is there a list of all the signature arc missions?  I know i've seen em on maps.

Also when is the reset for them?  Need to start focusing on some to start gearing up my charachters.

  7. If the auction house prices were not so out of balance with the inf gains from regular content then AE would be used for what it was designed for... But when a single enhancement can cost over 50mil (stupid prices....)

Speaking of rehashing the same old things over and over...

Now I'm sure we can figure out a way for ED to factor into this and get the trifecta.

Removing ED would make the need for expensive IO sets less of a requirement at endgame and more of a perk/bragging rights and the cost of those enhancements would not be sky high due to not being a requirement for endgame builds and making AE Farms for Inf a thing of the past (trifecta!)

Removing ED wouldn't change anything.  It would just encourage more frankenslotting of all the powers and create more power creep.

Most of the expensive IO's are the ones that aren't even effected by ED like Luck of the Gambler recharge, Performance shifter +end, etc.  All of which are easy to buy for the low cost of 50 merits which is basically 1 TF.

uhhh...I'm pretty sure he was joking in response to my joke.

Ahh well hard to tell online sometimes.  I've seen people in game say it and actually think its a good idea so its easy to believe lol.

  9. If the auction house prices were not so out of balance with the inf gains from regular content then AE would be used for what it was designed for... But when a single enhancement can cost over 50mil (stupid prices....) which is what 15+ hours of playing regular content you cannot blame people for picking the fastest way to grind for inf... increasing inf gains from regular content or reducing merit costs/seeding rarer IO sets at fixed prices etc can go along way to balancing things out and removing the want for AE farms people have.

Using AE for power leveling alts is also something that can be solved by doubling the XP gains from all content once you get at least 1 character to 50 and then offering XP boosters that have penalty's to inf gains if you want to level even quicker.

Well for one they are already offering xp boosters that have penalty's to influence gain in P2W vendor, and they will be free after next update.

Secondly it doesn't take 15+ hours of playing regular content to get 50 million influence, and the only enhancements going for that much are literally the best in slot end game ones.  You can also buy them yourself quite easily with reward merits.  Normal enhancements are very easy to afford and the expensive ones are the goal for end game and will take some time and work to get fully outfitted in them.

Just run some TF's, do some story arcs's, etc.  Then use the merits to buy recipes you need and craft the enhancements.

  10. For me at least the point of reducing xp and increasing inf is to be able to run more of the story arcs without outleveling them and to be able to slot up my character while traveling through the story without farming or trying to PL a different toon just to fund and farm for them.

You can already disable xp in order to avoid outleveling content.  It just seems like the mechanic is next to useless at lower levels because loot/merits is far greater then influence drops, and at 50 it would be very op as you can do farming maps and make a ton of influence quickly.

  11. All these years and the same tired arguments just get recycled.

    Don't you people ever die?

    :)

Nah, it's the horse that's dead, they just keep beating on the poor creature.

More like the horse is dust and to even beat the thing you have to run an epic level mission of for Hate and Anger to gather the dust, add some Hellion blood and re-constitute the thing to even begin to strike at it.

The whole thing, _just like every single other game_ boils down to a group of people that claim they 'cannot imagine why' or 'cannot understand why' someone would play this way, when in reality thier brain chemistry simply does not allow them to accept that other people live their lives differently.

This same tired argument is some form exists in _all_ game forums.

Play the 'right way' or GTFO.

Some don't just lack creativity, they activily try to stiffle it in others, because 'they cannot understand.'

Yeah, I am a bit bitter over it, because I am tired of people with no imagination or ability to think ouside the box trying to tell others to stop doing thigs they "just don't understand".

Actually its more like people are saying no to it because literally 1 person running an AE farm is taking the server resources needed to support 10-20 or more teams running missions.

So 1 person running an AE farm means 100+ people can't play or run missions.  THAT is the biggest issue.

I'd have absolutely no issues with AE farms if it didn't come at the cost of the server health.

  12. Thank you. i vaguely remember something of that nature but i wasn't sure if i was remembering this game or something else. Thanks again!

You also have to keep in mind sets and bonuses now.  So even if Stone Skin maxes out at 3 resist IO's it could be worth it to 6 slot it for the set bonus it can hold.  For instance a common strategy is to 4-5 slot it and mix resists and resists/endurance in it so you get a set bonus, resists, and lowered endurance cost.

  13. Put me down as one of the folks who also want a -XP for Inf version of the power.

Though to be fair, I haven't really had any trouble keeping my character up to date. Took a little doing (for instance, buying common IO recipees from the market instead of the work bench, and selling good stuff I don't need -right now- with the full knowledge that I'll probably be buying it back sooner or later so that I can fund my current build), but overall I don't think anyone needs too large of an Inf increase. Infcrease?

But yeah, I'd still gladly do half XP for +25% Inf!

Honestly there are sooo many better ways to get influence that its not needed.  Just do a few ouruoboros arcs and farm merits.  There are a dozen different ways to make millions of influence via merits.

Or sell salvage.  Rare salvage sells for a million a pop, far more then you'd get from doing missions.  Or craft and sell IO's for profit.  If you memorize the recipes you can make a nice chunk of money that way.

  14. Its not all about the lvling of new SuperHeores but we have had people over farming in Pi and its boring also over farming incarnate trials along with Rikti raid being over farmed which in all is more strain on a server than the AE .I like to make new missions and not use custom thing to fight but just revamp reg mission in a new way and see and do different things. The over powered power leveling by AE is all custom not the reg already in game fights.

That is false and the dev's have already confirmed it.

1 AE mission is FAR more intensive then 20 non AE missions with how scripting works.  The AE is a MASSIVE resource hog and puts a huge strain on the server when people are running farms on it.

    Direct quote

The missionserver, as its called, is a separate piece of software that stores the mission data as created by players. It does use some resources, but that part is not a big deal. Once you start an AE mission, it's loaded in a mapserver, like any other mission. They are not treated any differently.

The problem is that players can build missions that are a lot more resource-intensive than normal missions from the game. When enemies spawn in normal missions, most of them have their AI in an "idle" state until they are aggroed, which doesn't require much processing power. But most AE farms rely heavily on ambushes or patrols, which spawn the critters with fully active AI. And that's the problem.

Missions are run on 9 servers with a total of 224 cores. For the most part you can run lots of zones and missions on a single core without a problem; but AE farms tend to max out a core all for themselves. If there's just 100 AE AI-intensive farms running, that eats half of the mapserver processing power for all 4 shards.

  15. I agree that the set is very different for Tanks than it is for Scrappers or Brutes.  Are you sure Evolving Armor buffs past 10 opponents for Tanks?

Don't know that, its a massive boost to the point I can immediately tell which toggle I have on just by watching my HP when I engage mobs.  Literally my HP almost never moves on Defensive, but it goes at a slow and steady rate when using offensive.

So normally I rush in with offensive, unload attacks, then if i hit 50% switch to defensive, fire off my heal, and then go back to offensive once healed up.  Repeat as needed with swapping in efficient toggle if my stamina gets low.

  16. While people are saying it start at level 10 - the toon I'm on is level 30 and still not seeing any debt.

It could be that's coming out of my patrol exp but I'm on every day and patrolling plenty... so I don't think there really is any result to being defeated.

If there is - it's barely nominal and certainly not felt by people who are face down...

The servers have had a global xp boost since they were up.  When their is a global xp boost patrol xp isn't consumed by normal play.  After the servers move the global boost will be removed and changed to local boost from P2W vendor.  So the only way your patrol xp will ever go down now is from dying.

  17. You're missing the point. The equivalent powers in Dual Pistols and Bio Armor each take up a power slot so those sets only have 8 regular powers instead of 9. So if a swap power were added to Archery it would be necessary to take out one of the existing powers to make room (probably Aim since that's the power that was swapped out in Dual Pistols).

Personally I think Archery is fine where it is. Yes, only doing lethal damage can be a pain but it's a pain that almost every other weapon based set struggles with as well. The big advantage of Archery (and Assault Rifle) is that they have a really really good T9 power. Even with I25 removing the crash on other nukes the weapon sets still get much faster recharge on thier T9s letting them be used more often.

Look I'm here to make suggestions so we're not stuck with old stuff, keeping things the same forever wont be fun for anyone and it makes logical sense to have toggles for an arrow. If you don't like the suggestion that's fine too but i don't think its required to just down it so quickly and as for Aim it's used often, The least used powers out of archery are most likely fish full of arrows/stunning shot/blazing arrow at least for me those are useless to me but everything els i use.

He's making a valid point.  The sets that deal lethal damage usually have other compensation for their damage type being so widely resisted.  Every build has holes or weaknesses in it to prevent them from being overpowered.  Your T9 is one of the biggest compensations

So while it could be changed, you'd have to sacrifice from elsewhere to keep the powerset reasonable, and you'd definitely need to at bare minimum give up a power to make room for a new power.

  18. You'd have to slot your build to maximize Defensive.  Just switching it on doesn't provide enough of a boost to turn you into a tank.  I'm sure it can be situationally useful.  I'll probably just IO 45% defense to S/L and run Offensive.  Giving up 50% damage just isn't worth a few hp and maybe 15% resist.

Unless there are some other "hidden" powers.  ;)

Clearly you haven't tried it with big groups.  It add's scaling resists and defense based on number of enemies around you to the point that I can go afk in mobs and they can't kill me because they have raised my resists and dodge so high that my increased healing compensates for the damage they do.  You don't need any special slotting to increase this.  I've hit 90% S/L resists at level 25 with a tanker with no IO sets at all thanks to it.

That's in part because Evolving Armor is one of the lynch pins of the build and synchs up with it so well

While Defensive Adaptation is active you gain a very minor amount of defense and damage resistance for each nearby foe. - That x20-30 enemies adds up VERY quickly and is both DEFENSE and DAMAGE RESIST.  It's unbelievably strong and turns you from tough into super human tank.

So yeah, if your fighting 4-5 enemies then defensive mode makes no sense, its there for when you want to be an unmovable tank that laughs at those who try to defeat you.  It's quite literally god mode.  I go from my health dropping, to enemies being unable to harm me when I toggle it on, and learning when to use each of the modes is what makes bio armor so powerful.

We can be damage, tank, and unstoppable all in the same build with a simple click, because that click changes how more then half our powers function.

  19. I'll have to try that.  Right now I just do a few Ouroboros arc farms and buy some items with the merits and sell them whenever I need money.  Think I have around 20 mil scattered across all my alts and it only took me 2-3 hours to really farm it without even trying.

Freak Olympics gives around 50 something merits and that can be converted into ~10-30 million influence pretty easily.

  20. Or do the Summer Blockbuster Event. The enhancements from that are selling for a decent price.

From an overall economic viewpoint I would advise against increasing inf gains since in the long run that just causes inflation. The price of things in the market is essentially determined by the ratio of inf to stuff. If you increase the amount of inf in the economy without also increasing the amount of stuff (i.e. recipe drops) then prices will start to rise.

The original game had an economy that was actually relatively stable. Prices were somewhat high relative to native earning potential but they only really jumped up when new methods of farming were introduced (like AE) or when new items were introduced. We're not dealing with the same stockpile of inf so prices in general should be a bit lower but we'll have to wait for the economy to settle a bit more to see where things really end up.

The admins have put in an infinite supply of fixed cost salvage which will also double as a minor inf sink so we should avoid inflation there but of course that means more inf will be spent on recipes so overall prices may not change that much.

Haven't tried that content, how long is the event?
