  1. The problem is you get more influence by far by other methods.  Farming merits is fast and is incredibly easy to get money.  I get a few million that way and use it to pay for my toon while leveling and then sell off a few pieces of rare salvage as it drops.

That will cover you 100% until you hit 50.  So if your low on money just spend 1-2 hours doing a TF or an arc or two and your set

  2. 50% damage loss v Offensive.  I agree that Defensive is nice when tanking, but not really for Brutes or Scrappers.  I suppose if you have 2 builds you could mini-tank when needed, but for the most part I think it's a waste.  Maybe what the Tier 9's were meant to be, minus the crash?

The whole point is you don't need 2 builds.  Use defensive and charge into that huge mob and whittle em down.  Then once you've killed a few of them switch over to offensive.

Or rush in and wail away at them, if you start to take a pounding switch to defensive and heal up, and then go back to offensive mode and continue the assault.

Your not locked into any one of the forms, and they recharge fast so you can swap constantly during a fight as the flow of battle changes.  Don't think of yourself as being limited to any one of the forms and use each of them for its advantages.

  3. What Generator said.  It's hard to make informed decisions on the new powersets, so I just wanted to contribute to the database.

Something like that should definitely be in either the description or the detailed info.  Defensive Adaptation is not exactly Stone Armor, I don't see many situations where losing 50% damage is worth the extra resist.

That's because it does a lot more then just add some more armor.  Thought it was 25% not 50?  Anyways the point is you use it when you need to prioritize defense.

Defensive adaption also interacts with other powers and increases your life, add's more defense, get additional defense and resistance per enemy near you, etc.  It makes you more tankier prioritizing being able to soak up everything.    It's basically designed for the huge alpha strike, and something you can toggle out of once your team has unloaded on the enemies and thinned the herd out.

Or during solo it's not needed as much unless you crank it up.  The set is not designed for people to just leave 1 adaptation on.  You should be swapping in battle as needed to maximize the potential and the features.

  4. Anyone mind looking over my tri-form build and seeing if I missed anything?  Been so long since i looked at warshades.

  5. 1.  Roleplaying is not required in any fashion and can completely ignore it.

    2.  As for powers there really arent bad ones.  Some are more situational and some powers excel more in certain cases.  Aka some melee weapon's like spines are more suited for aoe damage and are less ideal then others at single target, but all are viable end game and will excel in different parts of the map.

  6. Which is the best server for end game? What I mean by this is which server is more likely to have people doing the end game bosses/content? Don't really want to join a server that has a busy lowbie experience and then a dead end game experience.

    Cheers.

There isn't going to be one better then another.  Even the older servers aren't going to really have that many more high levels as the newer ones got huge xp boosts.  There is no real difference between any of em

  7. So this is what I have so far, i'm trying to see if I can swap some smashing/lethal resist for other benefits as im a bit over capped on it.

  8. I've got a LAN server set up.  It's not nearly as much of an...experience as getting to play with everyone else (although the easy twinkage is nice), but I'm confident at this point that I will only go without CoX when/if I want to do so, going forward, one way or another.

How did you do it? Is there an "easy setup guide" out there somewhere? If not, could you make one? O5khXA8.gif I would have PMed this to you, but it looks like you have your account setup to not take PMs.

I'd be very interested in this too.

    Same here.

As soon as there is an idiot-proof way for me to set up my own server, I intend to do just that.  I will happily play this game solo anyway, and while I will miss seeing everybody else's characters around, it would still be better than losing the game forever.

Ditto, i'd be interested as well.

  9. Nobody's a dev here. The server operators are just players with the means to run a server now that it's been leaked. Some players have always been hostile to AE. Some have always been autocratic about how others play the game or being able to get more than some arbitrarily determined fair share of loot. This could become a political issue dividing different servers in time... if there even are public servers for much longer.

It seems like the autocratic ones are now in the majority and it will be their wills done.

It's more like whats for the greater good.  I mean they could support an AE farm for 8 people, or provide support for 100-200 players to log in and play.

I mean the decision between the two is a no brainer, especially as there are plenty of ways to farm without the AE.

  10. Honestly I'm all for disabling the AE all togethor if its negatively impacting the rest of the game.  I mean if it comes down to supporting 200 people running missions or 8 people running a AE the resources are better spent on the missions.

There is more then enough content in the game itself and opportunities.

  11. Not to sound ungrateful, but the Super Packs just seem..bad.

If the value is 10 merits (and some goodies) but you only get 5 things, it is very likely to get nothing you actually want. And for 10 mil?

If it was 10mil back on the old servers, sure. But now, not many people besides hard core farmers are going to have that to gamble away. And it pretty much is a gamble.

I remember getting some of the Super Packs on Test Server, way back, and was not at all impressed.

Remember its also a money sink.  The money is taken out of the server helping control inflation.

  12. What's odd about this is hero and villain alignment mishes still reward their respective merits, which according to the merit vendors are still worth 50 merits, so does that mean the timers are still in place for those missions?  Otherwise, just get Null the Gull to change you to hero or villain and grind those tips instead.

I'm a hero and did my hero morality mission last night and only got 20 merits and no hero merit.  So is it rewarded if you do the mission to CHANGE to hero?

  13. You can buy salvage racks and put them in your bases.  Each rack is a separate vault.  SG permissions decide who can take and add salvage to them; I think these can be set separately on each rack.  There is, or was, a limit total of how many racks you can put in a base.  Each rack can hold 100 pieces of salvage; used to be 30.  The limits are generous enough that I added dedicated racks for stuff like Halloween salvage.

It's been a long time since I looked into that, you can't make an individual base can you?

  14. I was wondering if we can get ride of the posting fee because sometime the item does not sell and that (money) Influence/Infany is never replaceable ?

That is so people are forced to post items for reasonable prices, otherwise people would list items for 100 million and slowly keep lowering it until it sells.
