Character LODs depend on their ent types, which for common player models is typically 40/100 for LODs 1 and 2 so this is WAI. The reason they're more noticeable is due to larger resolution displays.

A code change to support a slider maximum value of 400% or 500% for character quality is probably the more appropriate route to take than trying to update the existing 3,000 ent types that would need to be examined.

Do you see this, and/or other engine enhancements coming? It would be awesome though I Dont know how much work it would be. Guessing more than editing an .ini file.

I was reading, if I understood it correctly, that Unreal 5.2 did away with LOD's and uses some other technique now - not that I see the manpower and money being available to migrate game engines.

  2. I truly appreciate that people take time from their lives to work on the COH code - time they could be doing just about anything else is applied to making my life more fun!!!!

I also know just enough programming (and I am not saying much) to know how code gets unmanageably complex at a seemingly exponential rate.

If it isnt just an unfixable artifact of our old game engine can we fix some of the oddities (like base editing) we get at higher resolutions? I assume its more than finding some constant someone put in the code assuming 1024*768 was all we would ever need?

Thank you again to all the people who support our game world and than you for your time.

  3. Can we get this UI improved?

The slider is a pain to click on - typing a number not much better. Or is there a hidden hold down control or something I dont know?

When using Base Storage clicking or dragging stacks works so much better/easier.

Can we get that for our vault?

  4. I was running the Diag Client to help out, until I noticed all my badge locations were gone. Silly me not having them all memorized.

I attempted to use CityMods to fix this. It removed the Diag client from the Homecoming Launcher and when I reinstalled no badges.

Given how touchy it is being I am starting to wonder if Vidiots would cause some kind of data integrity error? Or would it be OK to just copy the file into the install folder old school way?

    Thanks

    Hello Zep,

    To clarify on these points:

    1) Overlapping Storm Cells do not stack bonuses such as Gust's DoT or Direct Strike's stun. The powers look to see if a target is "In a Storm Cell" and will activate bonuses accordingly, but does not care how many Storm Cells it is in.

    2) Category Five also counts as a Storm Cell for the purposes of the bonus effects. If you drop a Category Five down on an area, then use Jet Stream, you'll notice it does Knockdown like with Storm Cell. However, overlapping with Storm Cell does not provide further bonuses.

In short, as long as a target is within anybody's Storm Cell or Category Five they will be subject to the bonus effects of Storm Blast powers. But only you can proc lightning and high winds from your own Storm Cell or Category Five.

    Thank you very much.

Knowledge is power - almost literally in this case.)

Unless I'm misunderstanding the question(s) Player-1, the Developer, answers at least part of your post.  Also CoD lists it as stacking both from the caster as well as in general near as I can tell.

English is a very ambiguous language.

Your powers will get Storm Cell bonuses as long as they target enemies that are inside of a Storm Cell. However, only your Storm Cell will proc High Wind and Lightning from your Powers.

In the contact of this sentence it could be referring to that fact that there are multiple bonuses from Storm Cell that will apply to any storm blast power in its effects. The plural on bonuses could also mean multiple Storm Cells, or both.

While it is good information, and I was happy to learn this info,  due to the nature of our language it is not a precise answer and I like to understand how things work and not guess.

    Question(s) please:

    1) Do the Storm Cell Bonuses stack for multiple Cells?

    2) Does this apply to Cat 5 as well, stacking or non stacking bonuses but no procs?

Suppressive Fire and Piercing Rounds both got significant buffs. Suppressive Fire's base recharge has been reduced to 8 seconds, which makes it a perfect Proc Monster. It's been given a significant hold magnitude, with cryogenic rounds giving it a mag 4 hold. And to top it off, it's base damage is on par with Pistols. I see Suppressive Fire as an almost mandatory pick for builds simply because of the chance for Procs, opportunity for set bonuses, and the hold.

Now onto Piercing Rounds. To be honest, I think this ability is still mostly skippable. It's a -res, and even though it lasts for 15 seconds, I've always found powers with -res to be pretty average. The damage per animation second is low, and the cone is so narrow it's basically a single target attack. I would love to be proven wrong.

The problem I'm facing is where I'm going to fit Suppressive Fire. I would love to swap out Pistols, but I'm locked into taking 2 of the first 3 powers in the set, and Empty Clips is an awkward and short range cone attack. When I do respec into Suppressive Fire, should I proc it, or try to get some juicy +defense with the Winter IO set? Has anyone taken the new DP for a spin?

I'd love some feedback on the set.

Solo I tend to use piercing rounds as an opening attack and regularly hit 2-3 targets dropping them or at least taking them to a sliver.

In a group piercing rounds still regularly lets me hit 2 targets, sometimes 1 sometimes 3.

I think a lot has to do with playstyle, I am very mobile and tend to move a lot, which could reduce how often I fire while allowing me to better pick my shots. That isnt the only way to play and not something that works for everyone.

I'm gonna have to go spend some time on my DP/Dev blaster and check things out.
