  1. I'm convinced I am never gonna get to play this game again because they refuse to make mastermind minions stronger and want the mm himself stronger. The mastermind is about his minions, not himself.

The ninjas are still too squishy, the wolves are god awful at aoe, still have the same lame minions forever while other archetypes get new powers constantly.

Only a few mm secondaries are good and you have to pick like 3 of the dozen or so to get the best buffs/debuffs which makes most of the secondaries useless.

Not sure who wanted arsenal control/assault, could have thought of dozens of better powers in a few seconds.

I love the mastermind. We need new minion powersets already and to make the ones we have actual minion powersets. The minions should be powerful, not the secondary or mastermind themselves.

The results will be mostly the same. The best sets will still be at the top and the struggling sets will still be at the bottom.

The thing that’s really separating these sets is DPA. A set like Spines has terrible DPA compared to Battle Axe. The margin will only get wider if you only use the inherent powers.

Thank you so much sir. I was just about to edit my post cause I was thinking about it and was so worried I sounded like a freaking jerk haha. Thank you for the information. That helps a lot for me. I appreciate it!

  3. This is great, but I just wished we had this without the patron/ancillary powers. I am no rper by any means(I can't stand it personally), but I can't use gloom(or zapp) on a ice melee or katana or anything not dark or martial arts or savage or heck even energy melee, I could make that work. It just doesn't make sense and is so out of place on like war mace or stone melee or titan weapons. I like to stick to theme if I can and if not, it has to make somewhat sense.

Not to mention, not every build can fit those attacks in and deck them out without gutting other things. I like looking at these to see what power I want as a solo tanker, but I don't know if ice melee is better because I would never use gloom or cross punch cause to me it doesn't make sense. I know this is to see how well they do in these tests with max dps, but I bet 98% of the players don't want to mix these sets like this and still want to know what the best st/aoe dps is for each set.

I hope someone comes along and does one of these tests, but with the archetypes inherent powers from the primary/secondary and you can just add the ancillary/patron powers as a bonus.

  4. @Galaxy Brain I don't know if this is still being worked on, but if it is, is there anyway we could get dates on the spreadsheet and the new energy melee, stone melee etc? It is hard to read because I am not sure which page is more recent. Like is copy of alpha gb more recent or is copy scrapper tests base? I am a newbie and this spreadsheet has helped a ton, but its just, for me, (maybe cause I am still relatively new) all over the place.

Sorry, ET is suppose to be Energy Melee

It's ok, I knew what you meant cause I saw you say pom poms lol During my research I saw that is what every one uses to describe it.

If I were to add a suggestion for a safe scrapper powerset, and since you seem to like pairing themed powers, I would suggest you look at......Stone Melee and Stone Armor.

I tried, really really hard to make that work in mids and I just couldn't get anything I liked even without taking fault (which I read all over the forums that it wasn't worth taking). I could not get s/l resists past 53% without sacrificing too much damage/survivability elsewhere. I couldn't get past 38% f/c defense either, but that wasn't a big deal since I had capped resists on those. With fault, there is no way to even come close to what I want. On the mids builds I make, I try to get 3 great ST attacks for a chain and 2 aoes, 1 or 2 from the set and/or 1 from the ancillary/epic. Stone/Stone just seemed like I was gonna suck in aoe with just tremor.

Also, what keeps me interested in a character isn’t if it’s the best, or highest damage, or most survivable. It’s the theme around the toon, the concept, the combination of power sets. This is somehow true even though half my toons have the same outfit on.

Play what is fun. If sucks at at first it will get better later as you get more IOs in more powers and start getting the great procs as mentioned. Unless it is /regen they it will likely still suck but I’ve heard can still be fun but I don’t see how.

I am a very indecisive person. In mmos, it takes me days or weeks to pick a char even when there is like 7 classes. So take this game with so many power combos too many to count, you can see my predicament. I just like a lot of things. The thing that matters most to me is being able to solo when I don't team, as I am a single father of two teen kids and I have to leave a lot since I do everything on my own for them. So being able to just get on and play how I want and when I want, is key. I was hoping to find something I don't have to work too hard at to survive, aka destroy my hands or wear out my keyboard/mouse in a few weeks, and still have good st with decent aoe.

I see what you are saying, but for me it is a mix. Like I think staff seems cool. I am a HUGE martial arts buff irl. But I have done a lot of research over the last few months and I know on all the charts, the pylon threads and GBs melee testing, that it is one of the lowest damage wise, so I know I won't like it because of that. Even if I am interested in it. MA/shield seems awesome, but it has no heal and I always see people with /shield saying they wish they had a heal. Dark fixes that, but DM doesn't seem interesting to me in mids. So see how lame I am? haha Only build I like the numbers on in mids, is a electric/MA tanker. I got the resists I want, capped melee defense, a heal, but I don't like tanking in any game.

  7. Thank you for everyone still trying to help and throw out their info. Sorry, I have been busy in my off time trying to find a job, as I just got my Security+ certification last month and also  for some reason I wasn't notified of new posts -.-

It would help if you answered a couple of questions:

    1.  What difficulty do you want to run at?  +1, +2, +3?

    2.  What size groups   x1, x2, x8?

    3.  How hard do you want to work at staying alive?

    4.  Will you spend more time playing 1-49 or playing at lvl 50?

    1. and 2. I don't really know. I haven't really been past 30 on any char so I don't know what is feasible.

    3. I don't want to work THAT hard. I mean, I want a little challenge, but I want to focus more on doing damage.

    4. I am hoping 50 lol

On scrapper I am worried that my resist cap and lower base resist numbers is gonna hinder me. Like yeah, I can get capped defense, and melee defense on most armor sets in mids, but if I get hit, it's gonna hurt. Rad/rad so far seems nice, but funny enough, I got closer to dying a lot more on rad/rad than I did kat/nin on the way to 10 so far.

  8. Thank you everyone for the help. Like I said, I truly appreciate it. I will work on my /nin, but I am also going o start a /rad. I will see how much different it is and if I like it better. I was gonna go rad/rad though cause I think its theme, for me is better than sav/rad, even though savage is a good set by the numbers. I do a lot of research and buildings in midsreborn, but like I said, I have very limited actual gameplay after 20. I will start figuring out where to get some money and then how to get these IOs for my level range.

Just to touch on it since no one else really did, you mentioned feeling squishy and on a defense-based character (to me) that tends to mean the character isn't utilizing their fullest capacity. You have that character at least up to level 26, so it is 100% viable for you to have that character reach 45% to Melee, Ranged, and AoE, and once you do that a lot of your "squishy" feelings will magically disappear.

And no you don't need to spend a fortune to do it.

    image.png.20322a79eeb39819de040bac0acfa3bd.png

This example here is built on just standard SO's and includes just two cornerstone IO's in Bo Ryaku that each give 3% defense. As shown this is 38% to M/R/A which, at level 26 is often good enough for a casual, but I don't know what kind of settings you're trying to challenge yourself with solo. The only investment this needs to get better is 6% defense to each of those categories. That's two Touch of Deaths, two Mako's Bites sets, Scirocco's Dervish in Dragon's Tail. Or you could leave it on SOs and pick up Maneuvers and Combat Jumping and be covered.

Thank you. I truly appreciate the help. I will see about trying to power thru a little and get these IOs. I build a lot in mids, but I don't actually know how or where to get all the IOs. I seem to spend more time building builds, then I do actually playing. So I was able to get max defenses and great resists in the builder, but no idea how to get all those IOs in game. And just getting up to that point felt squishy, but I will go work on it now then. Thank you again. I really do like my ma/nin guy, though I think kat/nin would be better to me cause it goes together better.

Out of curiosity, do you tend to avoid build-up type powers as well, because besides needing targets and dealing damage, they kind of serve the same purpose...

No. I just like using it when I want. The more I think about it now though, yeah it is the same huh? But I feel like dark melee relies more on soul drain to do good damage and the other sets still do good damage without their build up. I am wrong aren't I? I suck at explaining. I feel like with DM, I have to immediately use soul drain or I am not as strong, as with other sets, I can jump in, still do good damage and only use build ups on bosses.

Try Willpower as a secondary.  Invulnerability works too.  Bio and Radiation Armor are incredible, but require some maintenance and investment to really shine.  Willpower on SOs will get you through most stuff.

Thank you. This is what I thought. I had a nagging feeling that willpower might be the only one that will do what I want at first until I get enough money to deck out another power set.

In regards to not being a fan of Soul Drain: It doesn't deal very much damage because it's not intended to be an attack. You get a damage boost for each enemy you hit with it.

You should be using it at the start of a fight.

Oh yes of course. I just don't like having to use it all the time at the start of the fight or my attacks will be weaker. I know, its just a me thing.

My own pick would be /nin... 😅

I guess we'd need to narrow down on what feels squishy about nin for you. By lvl 20 shield is mostly weaker, but you like your DM/SD. So I'm thinking, perhaps you're playing on SOs without insps and the -tohit and Siphon Life from DM are helping to the point shield feels stronger?

Perhaps kat/nin could replicate that experience, as the +DEF of Divine Avalanche can be more potent than the -tohit of Dark Melee.

I just die a LOT more than I would like on /nin. Yes, like I mentioned I am new, so I don't have billions to kit out stuff 😕, so yeah, just DO's and SO's for now. I take a lot of hits and it gets frustrated so I end up logging off. I LOVE the theme of nin. Like I said, I really want to do kat/nin, cause of theme, I just get wrecked.

I did try ice/nin once, but it was so long ago, I forgot how it was and apparently didn't like it cause it was deleted lol.

Was just looking for something I can play that will be safe, easy, new player friendly, and I can just go in and kill things and only have to worry about dying if I do something royally stupid.

This may be my bias showing, but I'd say something like savage melee/bio armor or /radiation armor.

Thank you. I will look into those then.

I did try brutes (ma/elec was pretty cool), but I don't like the rage mechanic. I frequently stop multiple times since I am a single father of 2 teens(They are always talking to me and/or asking for stuff). So I don't like having to get my rage back up each time.

  13. Hi there. I was wondering what the safest scrapper combo of powers is? I will be soloing probably. Will worry about grouping later when I have the time. I haven't gotten past 34 in my few years of off and on playing. So basically newbie.

I have tried ma/nin (up to 26 and it is so squishy), ice/ice (only up to 20 so far, seems good with ice patch but drains end pretty fast from ice attacks/ice armor toggles).  I have tried /energy up to 26, but it costs a lot of endurance so my toggles fall off a lot. I am just looking for something I can use to be survivable from 1-50. DM/shield to 20, so far so good, though I am bummed there is no dark obliteration for an extra aoe to pair with shield charge and not a fan of soul drain and dark consumption.

Was trying to think of something thematic. kat/nin/weapon I built in mids and it seemed cool with shuri/exploding shuri. A rogue mm jounin, but on my /nin chars, its so dang squishy I get frustrated. Don't care for spines, don't like the animations of claws, didn't seem very claws like,

Or if you think it would be better, I don't mind doing a tanker. Just i don't like tanking, so I will not group with tanker, though I do love the survivability and just being a powerhouse or taking damage. inv/ma I built in mids seemed amazing, same with shield/ma, since shield gives more damage.

Thank you for reading and/or trying to help. I appreciate it.

I just rolled a character on Beta and other than their summon sfx, I'm not hearing anything, so they likely use something else that I've already silenced.

These are the obvious ones from my own list of silenced sfx. If you can edit your base, you can use the /sg_music <filename> command to test them and see if they match what you're hearing with your Necro's.

I never noticed them having a sfx, could be they use the same ones as the Base portal or one or more sfx on the PI Portals. All of which I have silenced. They should all be listed.

I've actually been trying to hunt down Necro sfx for a while now, unfortunately so far no luck.  😞

Ahh ok thank you!! I haven't had any luck either lol

  16. Do you happen to know which one is the mastermind necromancy powers, enchant undead and dark empowerment? They are so freaking loud on my computer that even at volumne 5 out of 100, I have to scramble to turn the volumne knob down when I zone in and out of places. I can't seem to find the sound file. I have been checking every folder too.

  17. I just thought of something else. I am sure this is an unpopular wish and probably never happen or if it did, take years but, can we please get rid of the ninja primary arrow attacks and replace them with 3 of the martial arts punches and kicks(or give us the option too)? It makes absolutely no sense that we have arrow attacks, while our pets are martial artists, ninjas and a fire demon. You can't tell me its because of trick arrow because none of the primaries are made to absolutely go with secondaries. I just hate controlling ninjas knowing I shoot arrows and not, like how the head of all martial arts gangs are, a bad ass martial artist.

  18. I would like to see beasts get some more attacks. As of right now, the T1 pets have like 2 damage attacks, the T2s have I think 3 or 4 and the T3 has 3. That seems to be the reason why their damage rotations suck so bad and they stand around a lot doing nothing. I know the savage themed attacks recharge pretty fast like on savage melee but it doesn't seem to do any good on the pets.

  19. I agree with Caulderone. Though I wouldn't skip kyoyo. Unless you have a full IO build and absolutely no endurance problems. That skill is IMMENSELY useful on my ma/nin since ma uses a lot of endurance. I am still just leveling mine though. I run out of endurance a lot and it really helps.

  20. How are you guys making builds in mids reborn hero designer? I have the latest one, 2.6.0.7 Issue 26 version 19.1021 and I don't see electrical affinity at all for MMs.

EDIT: Ok I am dumb. I did not know there was a continuation of mids reborn in the tools section. Sorry 😞

No worries about necroing, better necro an old thread than start a new one.

Did you have any specific questions on MA?

Thank you but, not as of now. I was just mentioning my experience so far. The set seems pretty straight forward so far. Seems to be a pretty underrated combo.

  22. Hi. Have the Devs talked about proliferating more epic powers to archetypes? Like I would LOVE the tanker/brute arctic mastery on my scrapper for theme and damage diversity reasons.

I apologize if this has been talked about before. I could not find anything about it. (though I am sure someone will make me look stupid and post a link lol)

  23. Hello. I had a question. I am trying to pick between these two with no end game experience(haven't gotten a char past 30 lol). I like both builds and they both have pretty much the same stats but, I am not sure which is more effective end game for solo/grouping/general leveling. This is gonna be my all around character and first incarnate character. I plan on taking fire blast and fire ball for a different damage type and also extra aoe.

Psionic melee has more damage but, I heard it is very resisted with each of its powers doing 90% of the damage as psionic and the rest either lethal or smashing except levitate.

Ice melee has more CC with ice patch and frozen aura which I figure could help with defense failure and survivability.

Or I have a 22 MA/Electric(future soul mastery) brute if you think that would be a better first 50 and all around build. It is pretty fun and survivable. Thank you for the replies and help. I appreciate it immensely.
