  1. If we're going by precedent, shouldn't the two Echo zones added before Echo: Dark Astoria with no badges have set it?

Back on Live, there was only Echo: Galaxy City and Echo: Dark Astoria, and they both had 8 badges and an accolade. See here under Transfer Points. That's the precedent. Atlas, Faultline and Rikti Crash Site were not on the Echo transporter on Live; I added them.

  2. I just tested this for over an hour on a duo, and he spawned every single darn time. Tried in ouro and regular, tried leaving the mission owner outside and changing who triggered the volume, tried changing difficulty settings to x8, he appeared every single time.

So whenever you run into this, grab a GM on Discord and they need to get me:

    - Team size

    - Level of players on the team

    - Level of mission owner

    - Is mission regular or Flashback

    - Who crossed the doorway to trigger the cutscene first

    - Difficulty settings used

As soon as I am able to reproduce this bug I can fix it, but so far he never fails to spawn for me.

  3. Then why Corruptor/Defender Penetrating Ray quick shots have 100% chance to spread Disintegrate effect? Do they have longer animation? So quick shots are weaker on Blaster character, and same as powerful on Corruptor/Defender characters. Why?

Because the quick snipe change is an Issue 24 feature that was being worked on at the time of the shutdown, and some changes didn't make it in. You can tell that the intended behavior is to have the animation time mandate the change to Disintegrate because the powers that spread Disintegration have a formula in the Excel files; the ones that are set to 100% just have a placeholder "1".

Whether that's a desirable balance point or not is up for debate (I don't play Blasters, so I don't know if Beam Rifle is underpowered or not) but looking at the source files, the intended behavior is the Blaster one.

  4. Beam Rifle (Blaster) - Penetrating Ray power - has 100% chance to spread Disintegrate when it's NOT 97% to hit. When it's >97% toHit it also plays another animation (Charged Shot), although this may be intended. But its chance to spread Disintegrate varies depending on version - 100% change when ≤97% toHit and ≠100% chance when it's >97% toHit. This really messes the rotation & its AoE capabilities, because in team there's always 97% toHit, and it makes Penetrating Ray unreliable at some point. What could it be connected with?

This is not a bug. The AOE damage is based on the length of the power's cast time. Fast snipe has a shorter animation, so it has a lower chance to AOE; 55% to be exact. Long snipe has a long animation, so it has a 100% chance to AOE. Working as intended.

  5. SONAR.ProcHijack!g45 is an alert that triggers based on behavior, not as a result of a specific virus or trojan signature. Basically, Symantec (aka Norton) is saying that homecoming.exe behaved in a way that could be considered suspicious.

In other words, Symantec is saying "the people who build this program didn't pay us $500 ransom money for a code signing certificate so we will continue to trigger false positives on their files".

Homecoming Servers LLC will probably need to put that as an item the next time donations open up, just to get Norton and other AVs to cut it out.

  6. In addition, I'd like to note that prior to AE going down, I had received dozens of PvP/Purple IOs from AE standard rewards each afternoon farming. Since AE has gone live, I have yet to receive a single one of either. Which is far and beyond what should be expected of reasonable deviation/margin of error.

There are a couple of bug reports and a bit of conversation about it in the respective forum.

I replied there, but TL;DR is that recipe drop rates didn't change and the XP scale should not affect drop rates.

  7. The only change to reward tables on my end was to change the XP boosters from Super Packs to Experienced; nothing else changed, no drop rates changed. XP Scale doesn't affect drop rates, or at least it shouldn't.

Did i25 up the rates? Cuz purples feel just as streaky as always to me. PVP IOs seem to drop way more regularly for me than purple.

The actual drop rates for recipes has not changed from Issue 24; only the rarity distribution has, in order include PVP recipes. PVP recipes drop just as often as purple recipes at level 50; but since they drop at all level ranges, you will see a lot more drops for them as you level up.

The rarity distribution, at level 50, is:

    75% common

    19% uncommon

    4% rare

    1% very rare

    1% pvp

The rarity distribution in Issue 24 was:

    76% common

    19% uncommon

    4% rare

    1% very rare

  8. The inf received from AE right now is depressingly low.  +4 boss with xp turned off gives 89k inf.  Pretty sure they were giving more than that with XP on before.

Prior to this patch, the server was running with the configuration setting "XPScale" set to 2 (or 1.5 or whatever it was; I didn't set it) which affected both experience and influence. AE missions used a separate XPScale set to 0.5 which halved the experience, but influence was still being multiplied by the XPScale. Meaning, AE was running at 50% XP, 200% inf (or 150% inf or whatever it was).

This patch the XPScale (and thus influence gain in all content) goes back to 1x, while the XP gain in AE is still 0.5.

Question on the math with XP boosts and AE.  Base is 100% the xp boosts up to +100%.  So is AE x.5 xp or is it -50%?  The first will get the end results at regular XP for AE but no money, the second will have a net result of 150% xp.

There's two separate things; the server XPScale, and the character attribute kExperienceGain; both default to 1. The XP to be earned is first multiplied by one, then the other. A 50% XP booster sets kExperienceGain to 1.5; so 1000 XP * 0.5 * 1.5 = 750XP. A double XP booster gets you the base XP rate in AE.

  9. GENERAL

    • Halcyon has been renamed to Reunion (EU).
    • For the next week each account will be given 20 transfer tokens every 3 days to allow for easier migration.
    • The XP Boosters in Super Packs have been replaced with charges of the Experienced power (which grants Patrol XP).
    • Moved the Respec Recipe from the Merit Vendor (formerly 50 Reward Merits) to P2W (10 million influence).
    • Completing a Morality Mission now rewards 30 merits regardless of whether the player switched, reinforced, or double-reinforced their alignment.
    • The costume change delay timer has been lowered to 15 seconds.

    CUSTOM XP RATES

    • The base XP rate on all shards is now back to 100% (AE rewards still halved outside of Dev Choice content).
    • You can now acquire +25%, +50%, and +100% XP boosters for free from the P2W Vendor (or the Transact 4 Victory vendor in Praetoria).
    • These boosters will reduce your inf income by the same amount they boost your XP gain.
    • The boosters last for 1 hour of in-game time, but you can acquire up to 8 hours at a time.
    • The boosters stop working immediately at level 50 - Veteran Levels must be earned normally.
    • The boosters can be deleted from the Powers window (right click > Delete Power).
    • Please note that this is an experimental feature, it may be altered or removed without notice.
    • Jimmy cheats.

    POWERS

    • Beta Decay (Tanker, Scrapper, Brute, Blaster): the "first target" 10% recharge buff should no longer erroneously stack for all foes in range. The 2.5% per target recharge buff will continue to stack as expected. Max recharge buff with 10 targets should be +35%.
    • Beta Decay (Blaster): Will now require a target for it's "first target" 10% recharge buff to be applied.
    • Bio Armor > Evolving Armor: Fixed a bug where the stacking portion of the buff was overlapping 50% of the time.
    • Frost Bite: Fixed a bug with the damage scale for this power which caused it to heal targets.
    • Paragon Police > Call for Backup: this power will no longer endlessly summon PPD reinforcements. It previously attempted to limit itself to 3 uses by doing weird things with Stealth which didn't work; it now uses the Meter attribute.
    • AV Purple Triangles now provide protection against OnlyAffectsSelf.

    BUG FIXES

    • The PPD in Kings Row will no longer infinitely multiply using the "Call for Backup" power.
    • Patrol XP should now work again. It was not compatible with server-wide XP buffs.

  10. The PVP zones only have 3 or 4 exploration badges each at the moment, and it would be nice to bring the total to 8 exploration badges for each and add an exploration accolade like most other zones have. Have you seen an interesting sight or a lore-rich area in a PVP zone that deserves an exploration badge? Then post your suggestions here!

Include a badge name, description, and the in-game coordinates (using the /loc command) to find the place for your badge marker.

Make sure that the badge name you want to add doesn't already exist by checking the current Badge Checklist: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1AWFS2jGz0K8IaFemR2Ze0CWPVKwARqiw/view

    Bloody Bay

    • Ghoulish: The shards must be vibrating the very bones of the graves... you are almost sure you can hear scratching and clawing from the inside of the mausoleums.
    • Hungry / All Consuming: The Shiva Shard fed on the dead here, causing the trees to grow larger and stronger around the old graveyard.
    • Imploding: In this building the first of Cape Canaveral's scientists was infected and transformed by the Shiva Shard, eventually causing him to implode.
    • Lobbyist / Crooked Politician: Spanky Rabinowitz's cousin Charlie 'Big Buck' Rabinowitz owned Big Bucks Casino. It is said much of Spanky's campaign money came from the take here.

    • Tunnel Rat: The various tunnels throughout the WEB are a nasty piece of work.
    • Triumphant: The symbolism is hard to miss: whoever controls the Warburg rockets controls the world. Whether this is pure delusion or an ominous warning is a subject of much debate.
    • Weapon Inspector / Weapon of Mass Destruction: Warburg is home to many a nefarious ploy. Recluse's VENOM rocket is one of the most blatant.

    • Last Stand: Lee Towers may go down in history as the place where civilization fell to Lord Recluse.
    • Globetrotter: Lord Recluse targeted the statue of Atlas first, knowing it was an important symbol to Paragon's 'heroes.'

  11. Why move badges?  I can't speak for Faultline, but Rikti War Zone had 14 badges.  They moved 6 and added 2 to the Echo standardizing the number of badges at 8 per zone.

This is exactly the reason. There's also plans to add badges to the PVP zones and add PVP exploration accolades, a thread asking for suggestions will go up soon.

  13. Tequila downloads Homecoming patch files from 4 different mirrors. I would need to know which of the mirrors is being considered malicious in order to see why it's complaining. You can just view the manifest http://www.savecoh.com/manifest.xml with a web browser in order to see exactly which files it's trying to download and from where.

The whole message saying the "connection" being malicious is pure FUD. It's a standard HTTP download on port 80. There's absolutely nothing that the connection can do to your computer, it doesn't establish a two-way connection or open any ports. That antivirus is just trying really hard to prove its useful and doesn't care much if it hits false positives.

A possible reason is that one of the mirrors is in a shared host, which shares the IP address with a multitude of other sites, and at some point, someone downloaded a virus out of one of those, therefore the whole IP was thrown out as malicious. That's a blind guess, but it's the kind of overkill that AV companies are engaging on in order to try to convince people that they detect "more" threats than the competition.

  14. Wait, so I'm confused. Is the AE server a separate piece of software/hardware?

The missionserver, as its called, is a separate piece of software that stores the mission data as created by players. It does use some resources, but that part is not a big deal. Once you start an AE mission, it's loaded in a mapserver, like any other mission. They are not treated any differently.

The problem is that players can build missions that are a lot more resource-intensive than normal missions from the game. When enemies spawn in normal missions, most of them have their AI in an "idle" state until they are aggroed, which doesn't require much processing power. But most AE farms rely heavily on ambushes or patrols, which spawn the critters with fully active AI. And that's the problem.

Missions are run on 9 servers with a total of 224 cores. For the most part you can run lots of zones and missions on a single core without a problem; but AE farms tend to max out a core all for themselves. If there's just 100 AE AI-intensive farms running, that eats half of the mapserver processing power for all 4 shards.
