    A Timefighter is a time-traveling fighte of course. 😁

No the collar isn’t in game, it’s a Krea creation but I liked it. In game I used one of the Clockwork faces which has the wires/cables neck. I agree that this kind of collar would be an awesome addition. So many sci-fi uniform ideas!

You'd posted it as "Timfighter", not "Timefighter".  😁

As to the collar, here's why my interest

  2. Costume part: Head Detail 2: Aural Shield

Might a kind dev look into making this part fit in better?  It should be hugging a helmet or head closely. Instead, both side hand out there like flaps on a winter hat.  They look great in side shots, but face on, they look terrible.  I've tried adjusting head sliders, helmets and other options and nothing seems to work.

    What's a "Timfighter"?

More importantly, how on earth did you get the A.I. to properly render the D-visor???  I've been trying for some time to get an A.I. to properly render a D-visor w/ helmet on my main character, and every result was pure rubbish.  It never got either D-visor or helmet correct.

Oh, and that high collar: is it in the game, or something the A.I. added?  If in the game, is it only ladies side or is it available in men's and beefy as well?  I've been hoping for such for a long time.

  4. Just curious:  If you could design/approve a new billboard or theater poster for Paragon, the Rogues, or Praetoria what topic and design would you feel would make a great fit and in which area? (Anything that wouldn't get banned, of course.)

The set already has Tornado to do that and why would a thunder clap summon a twister?

Vanden's description sounds a bit like Hulk's thunderclap where it violently disturbs the atmosphere around it.  I feel that's more of a Gale effect than a twister.

I do agree that Thunder Clap should be revisited.  I've several storm characters, and I never take this power, having found it lacking the few times I attempted to utilize it.

I'm not sure how it makes sense thematically though?

    I can see thunderclap disorienting

    or blinding foes

or maybe even fear (werewolves and ghosts are scared lol)

It already has a disorienting effect.  "Blinding" thematically doesn't make sense unless it's expanded to mean ear damage as well.  Fear I can see as an after-effect once the disorient wears off. I'm wondering if a secondary effect might be immobilization or at least a chance for it.  If you've ever had your inner ear go out of whack, the resulting vertigo is not only disorienting but very immobilizing.

  6. Not to derail Snarky's OP, but this looks like a reasonable spot to ask a question that's been bugging me for some time:  Do the arcs vary between cone powers or do they all have the same specific arc?  In times past, I've been frustrated firing off some cone effect or other that repeatedly missed anything not standing almost directly in front of me, and the missing, oh, maybe 10 to 15 degrees on either side have me wondering if different cones effects use different arcs.  That information would seem important. "This arc fires a 45 degree arc" "that arc shoots a 30 degree arc".

  7. It's hard for me to come up with anything worth considering as roll-back material.  I suppose one thing I might state (and I'm sure this will be unpopular) is the abundant travel methods between zones now.  Yes, it does facilitate putting teams together quickly, but I kind of miss the days of exploring out routes and racing team members to the next destination.  I especially miss the warm comradery of the Taxi-bot players facilitating travel for low levels.

I won't go as far as to say "be original" because I've been known to uh mine pre-existing ideas for super hero gaming, even back as far as pen n paper games ha ha... One can do an homage as they I think still call it, more than just a nod towards the property, by putting a slight spin on it.  Maybe Gambit could... wear a hat?  Or be green!  Call him "Cardz Trick" or something.  Zing!  Yer safe!

I've seen some wonderful homages in the game.  They show respect for the source, fan loyalty, and creative originality.  Win all around.

Except... Someone is using a metric crapton of KB.  If I ran around and positioned myself I might get two peeps in a nuke.  All the Nemis have been scattered far and wide.

    I say "please no knockback"

response "honey KB is part of the game, you need to learn to play with it"

That is so ironic.  As someone whose main has long been an Energy/Energy blaster (it's all KB, baby), that is exactly the statement I'd give to the KB user.  Just 'cause a soldier can throw a grenade near his squad to eliminate an enemy doesn't mean he should.  And while KB doesn't kill teammates, it does, unchecked, damage the effectiveness of the team, including getting the squishies and newbies killed when you KB the goons to their formerly guarded position.   Know how to maneuver, including with AoE use.

A lot of games give you a personal space/instance/base as well as giving the same type of space to a guild/SG. That could solve the storage issue

So I could have a batcave and still belong to the league and use there hall of justice.

This is what I've pondered for a while.  I've no knowledge of what it would take, but could a private base (aka "batcave") system be cloned from the supergroup system?  Then supergroups be reserved for a plurality of players.

Tidbit: The lawyer that fought off Marvel got a standing ovation at the 2008-09? HeroCon.

Players have always been protective of CoH and have been very good at self-policing and reporting copyright violations. Even more so after the lawsuit.

I was hoping to see something like this.  Generic'ed characters go all the way back to the early original game.  I've mentioned it elsewhere months past, but when I came to the game in the winter of 2004/05, I almost immediately made a Green Hornet.  A kindly soul stopped me on the street and explained I'd not be allowed to keep it and the reasons why.  I don't know who that was, but I thank them for their kindness.  Then the game went through that whole Marvel lawsuit thing, and players realized to keep what they loved, they had to protect it.  It could happen again, free game or not.

  12. New story trailer has dropped:

Looks interesting.  The voice acting feels like it needs a little fine-tuning.  The Nix (Nixx?) character doesn't seem like it will topple "baby Yoda" anytime soon, but will still likely have a strong following.  I'm not sure I'm understanding, but it sounds like each of the underworld factions has its own vibe, and learning how to jab and weave within their variances makes the challenge.  If so, that is intriguing.  Not sure I really gravitate to a character walking into the thick of the Star Wars underworld mouthy and full of chutzpah.  Everything I've seen in Star Wars so far says she'd be bantha fodder immediately, but I'll keep an open mind.  She might be a latent force wielder with a natural luck for all I know.

  13. Finally had a chance to experience a mapserver event, or at least the last bits of it.  That GM was wonderful! A throwback to the old days where GMs were often hard to wear down, unlike certain other GMs (*glances towards Echo Dark Astoria*), and very combat active rather than the fairly stationary ones I've fought of late.  Whoever designed that one, please update the other GMs!

Is it not possible that she simply has superb hand-eye coordination and, even though she never held a gun before, has the intellect and technical expertise to know how to both sight and operate a blaster?  I mean, she was essentially raised around high-tech equipment, and I'm sure at least some of it involved having to target and/or manipulate objects/materials.

Sure, it's possible.  I'm very curious to see if there's another explanation, however.

  15. After several truly disastrous tries with Krea, I've finally had one reasonable success.  Curiously, it was with Dr. Nightlight.  I thought for sure his all-black costuming would stump the A.I.

There's still problem areas, but it got the essence right, especially the face so dark one cannot see it, even with the eye glow.

  16. Just saw episode 3 and...well...it finished.

Two stories told sequentially, rather than flipping back and forth.

    Story 1:

    Spoiler

I like that they're showing advancement in time by having Jubilee's 18th birthday.  I don't like that it's Mojo. Never did like the character. I also don't like that the whole story felt like those half-baked, sell-some-toys episodes of action hero cartoons in the 1980s.  Lastly, I didn't much care for the lack of originality crossing Matrix with Jumanji to achieve their story.  I did like two things:  first, they show that Jubilee is not just a sparkler, which was an accusation often made in the 1990s.  Instead, she's still in development and the virtualized version has shown her potential.  (Side note: many forget those "sparkles" are actually plasma explosions.  She's fried more than a few electronics in her awkward years.  Imagine what plasma explosions could do in a fully-trained adult version of her.) Second, I like the 16-bit game sequences.  They were drawn very well, though I suspect this is actually computer compositions made to look like old 2-D cell animation.

    Story 2:

    Spoiler

Fully disclosure: Forge is one of my favorite X-men. Always has been, alongside Beast and Nightcrawler.  So any time he's onscreen, you have my attention.  And they appear to be doing a take on the Forge/Storm romance of the comics.  Again, approval.  However, they seemed to have severely gimped (no pun intended) Forge's ability.  There's a great scene in the 1990s comics where he is attacked mid-morning, pulls out a custom gun laying down serious firepower, and mocks the baddie by pointing out that Forge designed and build the gun over breakfast just that morning.  In other words,  he designs at speed.  So having him act more like a normal genius human having trial/failure work is not exactly Forge.  Having him with a slight limp is also not Forge.  His custom built limbs are every bit the equal to his real ones.

As to the ending. not sure what that creature was (a manifestation of the Shadow King, perhaps?) but what a way to launch into nightmare fuel again!  I'm pretty sure the actress voicing Storm is doing the creature's voice as well, so maybe a manifestation of Storm's psyche?

I am soooo glad they didn't turn Omega into yet another "secret force user", as that would, IMHO, be the cliche thing to do.  Rather, I really appreciate them making her insightful and very good at picking up on social queues/empathic.  What does confuse me, though, is that in a world full of near instant communication across the galaxy, and the Empire having cameras/spies everywhere, why not give her a helmet or full mask?  Heck, they seem to come across environmental hazards frequently enough that her having such a piece of gear would make a lot of sense.  Also, can we please take a moment to acknowledge how woefully lacking any sort of ship security is - they seemingly don't even need keys or passcodes to activate someone else's vehicles...

As to your first sentence in the spoiler: yes, absolutely.  I'm right there with you.  That said:

    Spoiler

...because her blood is receiver blood, there's always the chance that Emori or some other will inject midichlorians into Omega, giving her a notable M-count.  Even if that does not happen, I do wonder what force connection a receiver might have. We know nothing about them because we've never known one before  Not to throw rocks and such, but her insightfulness and perhaps a few other details might be a minor ability.  I still wonder if she's mildly empathic.  Back in season 1, upon her first escape, she fired a single shot disarming Crosshair, and stated it was the first time she'd held a gun.  The shot was high marksmanship, and has made me wonder if Crosshair being in the room meant she channeled a bit of his skill.  But hey, if she's just a young teen with special blood and no empathic powers, I'm fine with that.

Regarding the rest of your spoiler discussion...

    Spoiler

You make a great point.  A helmet would be a better arrangement, in many cases.  It might also draw attention to her, though.  The soldier Batch members are adults and such might be natural to be seen in helmets.  Youths are possibly a different matter.

As to ship security, I suspect this goes back more towards the stated standard of world building holding the 1977 aesthetic in place.  Sci-Fi of that year could barely dream the tech we have at our disposal today.  So a ship with little more than a key for security is acceptable.  That said, there are always violations of the guidebook.  I think to The Mandalorian where small handheld devices can track someone across the galaxy, and no explanation is given as to how.  I suspect it involves DNA, something one cannot easily divest, but how does one read it across the galaxy?

    • Yes, Jason Isaacs is back as the Grand Inquisitor per IMDB. I'm not sure why he didn't get the Grand Inquisitor gig for live action, unless he already had a series order for Good Sam (a not-good medical drama series that was quietly canned after half a season. Them's the breaks).  I've read that Isaacs wanted to do the live Grand Inquisitor but the phone never rang.  Considering how many other problems were in the production of Kenobi, I chalk this up to one of their really bad decisions.  That said, at least he didn't have to endure the indignity of a head-shape change to the character.
    • BTW, while Jason might be one of the best bad guys around, he's always wanted to branch out from a life of villainy. Check out Archie, a bio of one Archibald Leach, aka Cary Grant. He's great, and I hope there's more comedy and romantic leads in his future.  I shall have to do that.  I know a little of the back story of Cary Grant, and Isaacs has always struck me as being a similar monumental acting talent stuck in villain roles akin to the late Alan Rickman.
    • Brainy Smurf looks slightly different from his other appearances, but I'm guessing this is a while back and Chiss age more rapidly. Per Gizmodo, his rank pips have him as just Admiral at this point.  At least in Legends material, Chiss do age faster than humans. Probably just as well, since Mikkelson, phenomenal talent and presence that he is, doesn't look quite so cut as his animated counterpart.  We can now chalk it up to Chiss aging and no dietitians in an old galaxy.  Well spotted in regards to his rank for this animation.  That definitely puts their meeting before his first appearance in Rebels.
    • If Barriss was still in prison for the bomb plot at the time the Republic fell and the Empire rose, that explains her survival. If we're getting real nerdy, here's how Rex called it: "Under this directive, any and all Jedi leadership must be executed for treason against the Republic." Barriss is no longer an official Jedi, and clearly ain't a leader or a threat at that point. Good soldiers follow orders... to the letter.  It's an interesting take on it, but how does it explain the Order 66 case against Ahsoka?  Rex even pointed out that she'd not been Jedi in some time.  Jesse and the others refused that argument.  I suspect the clone prison guards (likely Commander Fox's red-armored units) were given different orders in handling Barriss.  I strongly suspect Palpatine, fully aware of her treachery, saw uses for her.  However, because she's approached by a trained inquisitor, I'm interested to see how long after Order 66 she's actually given the opportunity.  I know it's before the final scenes in Tales of the Jedi because the inquisitor killed in those scenes is in the room with Barriss.
    • Also, per Wookiepedia and Rise Of The Red Blade, Palpatine already had his eye on a few candidates. They were tailed by his agents, and when Order 66 went down, they were given a straight choice: join or die.  Right.  This makes the most sense. Once Order 66 was issued the troopers were essentially zombies.  Without instructions, they'd kill Jedi regardless of any who pled for their lives or offered to turn.
    • Side note: in real life, Barriss Offee was saved by an editor, which is why you should always thank your editors. Ian McDiarmid's said the original cut of Order 66 was brutal enough to take Revenge Of The Sith beyond PG-13 and had to be toned down. (Yikes. That's a lot of dead younglings.)
    • As The Son Of Beard hath said, only that which maketh to screen beith canon, so if it was never on screen, she lives. All Praise To The Hat.
    • One thing I noticed from the trailer: out of the candidates, Barriss is the only one to lift her head out of a submissive pose when Vader makes his appearance. Is she planning on rebelling, or does she sense who he really is?  That is a theory making rounds right now.  It's an interesting dynamic: Anakin took her down, he stands before her, but he's so obsessed with being Vader that he refuses to acknowledge that part of him that was before.  So, does the wrath of Anakin towards Barriss still survive through Vader, or does his compulsion to expunge Anakin mean that he refuses to accept Anakin's views on Barriss, as it would continually acknowledge Anakin?  I suspect we'll get an answer on that.

  19. Beat me to it.  Just learned of it by happenstance, and, wow, what a trailer!  This one is going to answer a lot of questions, some that have been burning for a while, most notably that of "green girl" in that trailer screenshot in the OP:

    Spoiler
    • What happened to Barris Offee @ Order 66?  This one has been bugging fans for years.  It's long been believed that she'd probably become an inquisitor, and the trailer hints of this strongly, though we've never seen her in this role.  That said, we don't know how many inquisitors there are, though it's generally perceived to be under 20.
    • Who was the Inquisitor Ahsoka humiliated and beheaded with his own lightsaber, and what species was he (Tales of the Jedi)?  Well, we might not get those answers, but the trailer shows he's in the stories.
    • Who was the inquisitor Marrok, the one Morgan Elspeth apparently brought back as an undead thug for her plans?  Again, no promise of any backstory, but he's present in the trailer.
    • Who was the Fourth Sister of the Inquisitorius?  This one does seem to have results in this showcase.  The Fourth Sister (the wiki refers to her as formerly "Lyn") was in multiple scenes in the TV show Kenobi, but was silent and woefully under-utilized.  Here, she seems to play a more prominent role.
    • What was Morgan's backstory that turned her from Nightsister to agent of Thrawn?

We'll apparently also get to see the training process of the Inquisitors.  In print media, this was supposed to be a brutal process where Vader was involved and deliberately injured the Inquisitors to toughen them up.  The Ninth Sister had limb replacement because of this.  Dave Filoni has gone on record as stating that only what makes it to screen is truly canon, following the guidance set down by George Lucas, so we'll see if this story changes.

It sounds like we might have Jason Isaacs back as the Grand Inquisitor.  Hope it's true because he was one of the best things about season 1 of Star Wars: Rebels and the character was completely fumbled in Kenobi.  And of course we'll have the wonderful Lars Mikkelson and Diana Lee Inosanto back as Thrawn and Morgan.  Meredeth Salenger returns to the role of Barris Offee, and the seemingly ever-present Matthew Wood is back as General Grievous (and presumably all the Separatist droids as usual).

Potential opportunity:  The destruction of Dathomir and the Nightsisters by General Grievous will not only give opportunity to showcase Morgan Elspeth, this could be opportunity to visually link the canon games in the Cal Kestus series with the mainline shows and movies.  Nightsister Merrin, from the game series, was a survivor of the genocide, and even a cameo shot of her in the attack or aftermath would do nicely.

  20. The Mothership Raids.  30 minutes of "pew pew pew" while standing in a bowl.  I've actually fallen asleep at my keyboard multiple times during it, and have long hoped for an overhaul that would introduce seemingly random elements that would shake things up a bit.  I fare a little better when playing a tanking character, as that involves some risk going out on the edge to gather in new fodder for the bowl brigade.
