I suspect this was the case, a stylized Praetorian robot. I remember thinking so at the time the graphic was made public. I had to look up the details as a refresher. City of Heroes: Freedom kicked off with Issue 21: Convergence, which introduced the First Ward, so Gold Side was already long up and running, and there was a Praetorian element in play with the first expansion in CoH: Freedom. Makes sense it would be a Praetobot. (Yes, I just coined that.)

Sony Pictures Animation just released a free 7-minute long story tied to the two well-received Miles Morales animated movies.
It is very different in tone from those two. I've not seen an official explanation of where this falls in their timeline, but it's likely between the two movies.
A word of caution: if you're arachnophobic, you may have some trouble with this.

You didn't add that Lee actually was the villain in one of the Bond films, specifically The Man with the Golden Gun. The character was portrayed as an assassin so good that he was essentially the evil version of Bond. I'd love to hear the backstory on that. Did he get the role because he was Fleming's friend?
And I love the story about Christopher Lee, that in preparing to film Saruman's death scene in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, he corrected Peter Jackson, who wanted Saruman to cry out when stabbed. Lee told him that a man stabbed through the lungs does not cry out, but instead gives out a slight gasping breath. He did not explain, except to note that he knew. Jackson changed the scene to follow Lee's advice.

If IMDB.com has the right of it, this series has but 10 episodes to season 1. The lowest any season of the previous show had was 13, and some had 17 and 19. They've definitely not left themselves much room to tell a major story.

Episode 3 dropped and, wow, this definitely wasn't for the 1997 cereal-eating Fox Kids crowd. This would have been nightmare fuel for kids back then, and there definitely were things that would not have passed the censors of the time.
While I liked the episode overall, I couldn't shake the feeling they were rushing it, especially when...
Spoiler...clone Jean just up and announced she was now the Goblin Queen. Wait, what now? Yes, I know she had that nom de guerre in the comics, but there was nothing in the episode to justify that title. Not one goblin was about. It's like she randomly grabbed two word from a pile in a hat. She did it again at the end of the episode announcing she was to be called Madelyn Pryor. Again, a name from the comics, but out-of-the-blue in the animation. Why that name? Why not Madelyn Grey? Again, it felt rushed.

I can almost guarantee that 95% (probably higher) of the players setting up TFs/SFs do not take the AV's bump up into account, nor even any other character for that matter. Most probably have a mental sticking point that sees all opponents as homogenously at whatever setting they choose. And that's the problem. It may be too much to ask but it would be nice if the game had a pop-up that revealed what the top tier characters for any TF/SF will be based on the setting chosen, before the TF/SF starts. So in the case of KHTF, if the lead sets to a +2 and hits the start button, the game will first display "AVs in this +2 instance will fight at +5. Do you wish to proceed? Yes/No, change setting".

I do like the idea of Jubilee and/or Gambit as your "introducing the audience" focus characters. I'm assuming there are some expectations (audience and otherwise) that Wolvie will be in it somewhere, though probably not Hugh. ...
I still hold out hope, futile though it may be, that they'll let the boil cool then recast the character of Kang, perhaps tightening their story in the process. They did it successfully with Hulk, and with Rhodey, it can be done again.
Hugh has been phenomenal, but reality being what it is, it is time to pass the torch. Wolvie (Logan movie aside) is a slow ager, and Hugh is not. I've heard people pitch Daniel Radcliffe for the role, though I believe it is just fan wishes. Radcliffe is 5 ft 5 in. (1.651 meters) which is definitely moving in the right direction from Hugh's 6 ft 2 in. (1.88 meters), but just a bit taller than Wolverine's bantam 5 ft 3 inches (1.6 meters).

Frankly, I wish all casting everywhere were done on the basis of who best inhabits the role, not on the basis of Who's Who. Some of the greatest actors rose to fame from being little known or completely unknown before being cast in a major role because they were the perfect choice. While I'll always enjoy seeing a favorite actor take on a new role, I really enjoy going into a movie knowing an unknown cast was used. It'd be like holding a pack of rookie sports cards: Who among these will demonstrate their worth and become the breakout star?

As to what I'd do, one of the defining factors of an epic is that the story starts in the middle. While we've not actually seen a live action X-men that started with purely the original team, and I'd love to see that, we don't really need to. It can be reference in wall photos and flashback bits. So, start in the middle, preferrably with an incoming character. Someone without insider knowledge to act as a surrogate for the audience's discoveries. I strongly suggest this be a character not yet seen in live action. The X-men mythos is huge as is their roster. It's time other characters got a chance to show. Jubilee would be a natural, stepping in for the "new kid" role that Rogue occupied in X1. Gambit would be an important one to consider. He's been seen before, in a shoddy interpretation in the forgettable Wolverine film, so we've never seen him proper, and at one time he was the second most popular X-men character besides Wolverine. Not sure if its still true, but he's likely the biggest name not to have a proper live screen appearance as an X-man (this is assuming he wasn't in Age of Apocalypse or the Dark Phoenix movies, the two of which I avoided after seeing the reviews). I also have a soft spot for Dazzler, probably due to the old coin-op game, and would love to see her given a proper due.
However, I think Bishop is probably the one to kick off an epic in the middle. Start with a future firefight and Bishop diving through time to change things. This grabs the audience's attention and sets stakes high early on: can we change that terrible future? Discovering the steps to succeeding at that (not just a single act) will be a driving force behind the X-men story as battle-hardened Bishop tries to adapt to "quiet" in the decades before his firefight, while prodding the past to action. Complicating matters is that with each small change, he's less sure of the results and the next steps, so long as he's stuck in the past. Xavier recognizes Bishop's truth (how could a mind reader not) and decides the original members are not enough to fight the future. He begins recruiting the second team based on the fragments of information regarding others that Bishop's memories can offer. (This gets us past the obstacle of a living island being what forces a new team to emerge.) The memories of future selves being compelling, this will allow a team to coalesce from people he'd normally not recruit, such as Rogue and Gambit, due to their criminal pasts, and Wolverine, due to his violent nature and Weapon X past. Harder will be trying to convince old foes, namely Magneto but others too, to strive for a common cause without turning on humans due to future info, and thus creating the self-fulfilling nightmare scenario they're trying to avoid. Some may see reason, many will not, and their own agendas will act as a counter to the efforts to change the future. This played out through several movies (and likely Disney+ series) will be driving towards the X-men's version of Infinity War/Endgame, with each small change over time acting the equivalent of Dr. Strange surrendering the Time Stone in an effort to set the Avengers on the single path to victory. Yes, there'll be a war, but it might just be winnable.
EDIT: Whatever X-men's Endgame ends like would set stage for the next saga. Possibilities:
- Infinity War introduced outer space to the Avengers (not Guardians of the Galaxy of course), so X-men's culmination movie might introduce the Dark Phoenix as a possible Deus Ex Machina, but that will be a siren call to the Shi'ar Empire.
- X-men's Endgame kills Xavier and awakens/draws the attention of Apocalypse, starting a new saga as an adaptation of the Age of Apocalypse (the comics arc, not the movie). Bishop's efforts did change the future, but replacing one of a robot ragnarok with a genetic war. Without Xavier, it will be Magneto who leads the fight, resulting in a darker, more violent effort to change the timeline once more.
- X-men's Endgame catches the attention of one Mr. Essex who will see the Summers family as the key to unlocking the next stage of mutant evolution resulting in an arc where Mr. Sinister is the threat and the Summers family faces potential disaster.
I'd also add, if they bring Disney+ into this, it would be quite possible to bring other X groups to the public, such as X-Factor or X-calibur. Like Guardians joining Avengers, these groups would join the main X-men in the big showdown.

Ice is one of my favorite powers in game, so I'm all for an ice faction. I suggest one of the top leaders be named Cocytus, after Dante's 9th and lowest level of Inferno, the ice level of treachery.

Also, I realized with mine that I'd been posting several pics per post, so I went back, copied all within a given post, opened Paint (yes, still good) and pasted them together in one pic, saved as a JPEG, and re-posted, removing the old space-hogging originals. I cleared about 20 to 25 % space that way and didn't truly have to delete. Still a 3rd party storage is in my future. I used to utilize Photobucket, but had some issues with them a couple years back.

@Etched, assuming you put Windows on the computer, you can run a search in the Windows search box (Not a browser search. Look for the magnifying glass on the Windows toolbar) on "dxdiag", which will pull up the Direct X Diagnostic Tool. This has tabs containing a variety of information about your computer, such as a display tab that will tell you a many details about your video card. The tool also has a save all information button. I highly recommend running it periodically and saving a copy to a thumb drive if there's a second PC in the house (to read the drive) or a print out copy if there's not. Not only will it let you know details about your computer now, but routinely updating it will give a computer repair person valuable info in troubleshooting your PC, such as what versions your PC's BIOS and DirectX are set to, in any future event where you cannot get your computer up and running. There's one or two somewhat sensitive info bits, so share judiciously.

It's not you. They're far more blue than any photo of her face I've looked over. Catherine's natural color seems to lean more towards a multi-shaded gray, if I can describe it that way. The character's pupils are very small and the left pupil is off-centered. I've not seen that in any of Catherine's close ups, even those with enough Hollywood lights beaming on her to make irises shutter. I suspect colored contact lenses or CGI. One thought does strike me: Johnny Depp when playing the Mad Hatter specifically requested colored contact lenses where the pupil of one eye was slightly off-center. He felt it would add visual impact to the madness of the character. Perhaps something like that is being done here? Both movies are Tim Burton's work, after all.

She's listed as "Nanali". Per the usual Wiki lores, she was Queen of Wakanda back in the Golden Age, while Azzurri was Black Panther. Here's she's introduced as an intel agent, so it may be she becomes Queen after this. And as we've seen from the movies, it's both regular and expected that the royals not only serve, but get their claws dirty.
Also according to the Wiki, Wakanda largely stayed out of WW2, apart from dealing with a couple of Nazi infiltrators like one Colonel Klaue.
Not a big fan of Spider-man 2. I felt the writing was inferior to the first one. At least Miles has had two rock-solid animated movies to do him justice. So I'm hoping there's a different writing team, or should it be the same team that worked on Spider-man 1, then I'm hoping they return to form.
Nanali...well, Queen of Wakanda pretty much removes the redshirt idea.
From what I know of the lore, Wakanda has always focused on the home game, and until recent years, deliberately portrayed themselves as forgettable. This is not only because they've long had the most advanced technology on the planet, but also sat literally on a mountain of vibranium. Both of these attributes would have been exploited by both sides in WWII if they could. A crazy "What If...?" story would happen if either the Stalinists or the Nazis took Wakanda. (Likely a phyrric victory, though.) And to be honest, there are factions with the other allies that would have exploited these, too.

I'm hyped. Cap is my favorite Marvel character and the Black Panthers are all interesting. It will be nice to finally see some of Azzuri's (T'Challa's grandfather) story. Gabe is an interesting choice and I enjoyed the MCU portrayal. It would be interesting if he's equipped with the Howling Commandos briefcase of awesome gadgets. (His grandson, Trip, was pretty awesome in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for his short time appearing in the show. He carried his grandfather's bag of tricks for a time) I'm not sure of the woman's identity, though. Is she Azzuri's sister? love interest? a Dora Milaje?
I think the thing that concerns me with this Cap version is not the accent. It's that, what we've been shown so far is more in line personality-wise with John Walker, aka the U.S. Agent (and failed Captain America). Steve Rogers can be cocky, but his bridge scene feels a bit like an abuse of his authority.
Question: who is the third "super soldier" Cap refers to? I presume it is a bad guy, and probably tied to HYDRA.
"...a Resistance member called Julie": Hmm...is she wearing a red shirt? 'Cause she sounds very disposable for story needs.
EDIT: forgot to mention I like Cap's outfit. I was just visually brushing over it, until I realized there are distinctive differences between his WWII MCU version and this one. Most notably, they've removed the suspenders, instead making binders for the shield holder.

I was already grown, playing the 1992 Konami arcade game X-men, and had started collecting X-men comics when the animated X-men show appeared. While I thought it a little over the top at times, I really did enjoy it. I don't think I got to the final season, though.
One of the first things I noticed was X-men '97 is edgier than the original. It also says or does a few minor things that wouldn't have been consistent to 1997. I'm not sure they could have gotten away with things like talk of dismemberment on the original show due to it being part of the Fox kid's programming. Overall, I like it. The writing feels tighter than the original, at least the early seasons. I can already see they're going to be doing adaptations of at least 3 story arcs from the 1990s comics, and I'm hoping my all-time favorite arc is a result.

So far, the stories are set in a time/times when the Jedi are deteriorating. That sets up conflict and upheaval, and is why storytellers focus on those points of time. When the Jedi (or heroes in a larger sense) are at their purest and best, conflict would likely quickly resolve, and the story be rather dull after that point until the next cycle of growing lax resting on laurels, deterioration, conflict, purging, and renewal.
I do agree that if one is painting all Jedi of all ages with the broad brush of "failure", it is, well, too broad and quite myopic (though a very human thing to do).

There's a chance you may get your wish. There's a hypothesis among fans that the ending of Season 1 of Ahsoka sets the stage...
Spoiler...for a new direction in storytelling, moving a branch of the Jedi Order (namely Ahsoka and Sabine) to an old galaxy elsewhere (new to us though) and that a renegade Jedi (Baylin Skoll) who seeks "origin" (which likely means pure balance in the force) might actually be walking into a trap, setting up a new dark order, regardless of whether it calls itself "Sith" or not. If it goes this way, Ahsoka was recently "purified" resulting in a much lighter character (even her clothes now reflect a "...the White" look), and Sabine finally had a break-thru moment, which could result in a purer Jedi order going forward in galaxy #2. It also allows Dave Filoni to set aside, rather than jettison, all the mistakes Disney damaged the franchise with, and start afresh without destroying the original galaxy in the process.
But yeah, it could herald a return of the heroic Jedi.

Respectfully, I'm not seeing where Dave Filoni has any part in this project. I went over to the page on IMDB.com and Filoni's name appears in no credits, not even in a consulting role. George Lucas is acknowledge (probably contractually has to be). This is is squarely Leslye Headland's project (and to some degree Kathleen Kennedy's). I am not previously familiar with Headland's work, at least, I don't think I am, but mentioning Rian Johnson just put a foul taste in this S.W. fan's mouth. However, I will remain open-minded and let the work speak for itself.
Three brief observation:

gangposse of Jedi rushed what I presume is one of the Sith, makes me wonder if this work will reinforce the concepts first expressed with the Legends stories of Darth Bane: that by reducing the population of Sith to two, a diluting effect on the Dark Side of the Force is removed, and the power of the Sith is greatly increased.Hard to tell the technology differences with just this trailer. A ship is wrecked, and it looks a bit like an A-wing, but the destruction happening to it makes it impossible to gauge a design difference. S.W.'s universe has always been portrayed as something of a stagnant universe with few great technological advances for centuries, but with a story a few hundred years old, the tech should appear the difference between say, 1984 and today.
There's more aliens than were in Andor, but like Andor, the focus seems to be on creating new aliens, not showcasing the vast number of them already in the Star Wars universe. The one clear exception is Joonta's wookie Jedi master. A possible exception is the young female jedi with orange makeup. Her short horns suggest that this might be a Zabrak, Darth Maul's race. I'm all for new aliens, but to not have very populous species, like the Twi'lek would be a mistake.

Disney/Star Wars is stating that their first trailer for The Acolyte, their Sith-centric tale set during the High Republic era (when Yoda was young...er), is set to drop tomorrow, March 19, 2024 according to Superherohype.com. The announcement was accompanied by a new poster showing a blood trail imitating the look of a red lightsaber.
The blood trail poster, taken with the understanding that this is the first canon Sith-centric tale, has me wondering what level of violence this thing will be.
For those not familiar, the High Republic is a period of about 500 years prior to the Prequel Movies timeline, in which the Jedi were wildly dominant, the Sith were (incorrectly) believed gone or completely ineffective, leading to a certain arrogance and lax approach from the Jedi Order. To this date, I think the only current on-screen canon elements from them come from the recent, canonical video game, Jedi: Survivor. Members of the High Republic Jedi Order were key to laying the foundation for the events that play out in the game, and part of their tale is told in flashbacks.

Why is it that some mission NPCs, I'm thinking specifically of rescues, can run down a corridor, then stop and stand beside you until you move again (they may shuffle a little but generally remain calm), while others hover around you in a constant and annoying frenzy of movement like bees around a hive? I'm most familiar with this latter effect with the characters in the blue side Twinshot story arc, but encountered it again this evening on the red side with the Mr. Graves story arc. What's going on under the hood/bonnet?

While doing a bit of historical research on the original game, I looked into the Wikipedia page on it and found this:
As of January 2024, NCSoft has not moved to have servers based on this source code shut down. On January 4, 2024, NCSoft allegedly granted Homecoming Servers, LLC who operated the rogue server Homecoming: City of Heroes an official license to host the game.
"Allegedly"?? Can we get someone to remove that word, and give proper documentation of the authenticity of it?
ALSO...
The page runs up through Issue 24, or rather, what it would have been. Now that Homecoming is official, might we get someone with some wiki talent to get a Homecoming page on Wikipedia, continue the Issues/Pages descriptions, and get a linked reference to it in the original game's page? Maybe a link to the Homecoming Wiki as well. There may come a day when we'll need to reference the history of this iteration, and you never know but that more fans of the original game will discover this one when referencing the original's page.
Just a thought.
