No, bad idea. Leave the dwarf port alone, but give the forms the option of using starless step, if it has been taken.

Why not just give all forms access to all powers...

Giving dwarf the combat version as an inherent and giving human the ability to pick it (since human has and needs the basic port as its main travel power) makes more sense both functionally and thematically. Nova needs, and should get, neither since it gets flight.

  2. Take 2 -

    1. TP Target - Fine, combine Recall Friend and Teleport Foe if you are dead set on making room for other powers. Not much impact really.

    2. Combat Teleport - This is actually a cool power, and (potentially) gives the pool a "progressive core" (think hover, fly, afterburner) - combat port, standard port, and LR (interzone) port.  Only problem is teleport is the only travel power that requires a multi-key bind to be truly functional.  Now I need to have two - one for this and one for regular teleport?  Again, IMHO it would be really nice if regular TP just had this functionality based on the port distance and/or combat status (sort of like snipes), which would also mean more room for other powers so you wouldn't have to get rid of...LRTP.

    3. Teleport - Does anybody actually slot any of the other travel powers for greater effect?  Fly is the only other one I ever take, and that certainly isn't, so I honestly don't know.  Proposed changes are fine I guess.

    4. Team Teleport - This needs a rework, not used at all in current form.  Make it an ATT clone (Hey, you can get it as a power instead of spending $10M infl! Yay?) or make it a team-wide in-zone mission port (i.e., ports everyone to mission door once all are in zone).

    5. LRTP.  Please, for the love of God, don't remove this and give everyone access to it via accolade unlocks.  Find a way to make it more useful to those who take the pool.  For comparison, would you be willing to give everyone access to Cross Punch, or Burnout, via accolades?

    6. Fold Space - Ok, it may be a cool parlor trick, but frankly it's horrible as a top tier pool power.  How is it useful to anyone who doesn't want/need a bunch of mobs right in their face?  In fact, it could be detrimental (Team not ready? Bunch of squishies? Too bad, I just ported a bunch of mobs on top of us!) or even to grief people.  If you insist on keeping it, at least make it like a group version of TP Target (i.e., ATT if used on an ally).

Finally, on WS's - New Starless Step (combat port) should replace dwarf step (both WS and PB) as that form's standard port, and stay as a power choice for use in human.  Leave Slip as LRTP.

Edit - I totally get WS's loving the new Slip.  But again same thing as the T5 in the pool for everyone else? Not so much.

  3. No to these changes.  Just no.  You nailed it on the head - this pool is considered "less desirable" because much of its functionality is available to everybody through P2W, accolades, etc.  Some of what you're doing (eliminating the base-code port, which was never legit) restores some of its stature.  To improve it further, do more of the same, don't radically revamp it.  Specific suggestions -

    1. Recall Friend/Teleport Foe - These are fine as they are.  Porting a willing ally and porting an unwilling foe should be different powers.

    2. Teleport - AFAIK, this is the only basic travel power that requires slotting to be competitive with the others.  So increase it's starting range, while maybe also increasing its end cost.  It's meant to be insta-travel for the trade-offs of a bit more complicated use and higher end cost.  Also, make it so that if the distance of the port is < 100ft (or whatever is the enhanced equivalent), then it has the functionality of the proposed Combat Teleport. (Other powers have dual functionality depending on the conditions, why can't this one?)

    3. Team Teleport - Now this is a useless/unused power.  To change that, give it the functionality of Assemble the Team, and increase the recharge of the accolade power, or better yet, remove it entirely.  Yes, I said remove it.  Being able to call a ship to port your team to a mission door (on a fairly long recharge, i.e. the TT accolade) is a convenience that cuts down on otherwise tedious travel (and also has no equivalent in the pool), but ATT has a deeper impact in that it allows the group to skip content.  It's basically group Recall Friend (which has no P2W equivalent) and should be reserved to the pool.

    4. LRTP - Please please do NOT make this an unlockable accolade available to everybody.  We already have Mission Teleport, Base Teleport, ATT, TT, Ouro, TUNNEL, base teleporters (did I miss anything?). Removing the base-code port is a good thing, don't just convert it to an unlockable accolade.  Improve the pool power by reducing its cast time, giving it more inherent destinations, and/or (this would be really cool) give it the ability to add destinations via an unlock system as per the proposed accolade power.

    5. Fold Space - What is the point of this power?  To trivialize content further by making it so you don't have to worry about excess aggro?  The single target version I can see (especially for soloing), but whole groups?  This game really doesn't need that...

Yes, travel can be a hassle, and that's exactly what this pool is meant to address - more exclusively than any other pool.  But all the generally available work-arounds have watered it down too far.

That's the impression (imperfectly) given to the user, but what I am saying above is that the game's internal data files list two separate powers.

Those Wiki pages use a standard template. I added some plaintext about this, but on reflection, something might be done in the infobox; I have done it.

Since the game is actually swapping out the power when shifting into nova, can the correct tooltip be assigned to each version (when examined from the trays at least)?  Of course there is only one power listed in the enhancement and powers screens, but again that’s the basic version, IMHO.

I'm not really sure what you're saying here, TBH - obviously the interface is not great but that seems a separate question to what Kheldian base damage is, which is all I'm trying to address.

I’m saying the tooltip for the power “nova ebon/glinting eye” should not be used for the “basic” (i.e., human) version of the power. It gives the false impression that it’s more powerful than it is, which caused my confusion and concern that the (human) eye attacks seemed superior to the blast attacks. It may be a ‘separate” issue, but it’s no less valid.

Thanks much for restoring the form damage scales to the wiki though. 👍😀

There's two powers - one for humans, one for squid - in terms of the stats like recharge and damage.

But there’s only one tooltip - the one for nova. Since it isn’t inherently a nova power, the tooltip should reflect the human values, which obviously would then change when the nova damage scale is applied, IMHO.

Going to change dwarf form as per issue changes, can you provide same proof with nova?

Can you provide proof that 1.2 was wrong?  That’s what both the archive and HC wikis said for a long time, and everybody else here seems to agree that is correct. You’re the one changing the status quo, so the onus is on you to prove the change is appropriate, not the other way around.

Updated values based on individual wiki pages

Have ranged and melee as same as what has been updated.

You’re doubling down on screwing up. Look further down on the PB (or WS) page. It specifically references damage scales with a link to the table you edited. See also under “Historical” where it references a damage adjustment in Issue 13. Go to the patch notes for Issue 13. It specifically says dwarf scale changed from .85 to 1.0, along with adjustments to the human scales. It doesn’t say nova scale is 1.2, but I challenge you to find one, one other person who agrees it’s .8.

What you’re seeing under “mods” on the individual pages are the human scales only.  Again, it’s common knowledge that the forms have different scales.  So, I’m asking you, again, to change it back, since you have no proof that it was wrong.

Much of the data was copied over from old Paragon. We appreciate anybody that can spare time to help update the wiki. Gm Kal

GM /= Dev.  If a dev (short for “developer”, i.e., someone with access to the game’s code) says something specific should be updated, then we can assume it’s because the dev knows the information is wrong.

Kal was basically just saying the information should be correct.  He wasn’t saying it was wrong. Again, please put it back unless you have some objective proof it was wrong.

Ebon Eye base damage (in human form) is 44.49.
    44.49 x 1.5 = 66.735... the same damage as Nova Blast at 66.73.

This is where that 1.2 scalar is evident. Now as for Nova Ebon Eye this is a weird edge case. I believe they've essentially created a second power behind the scenes when they ported it's use to Nova form.
Because if we take the base damage in the tool tip at 50 and do the reverse math...

    77.41 / 1.5 = 51.60

51.60 should be the base damage in Human form but we know that isn't the case. This is what to me, indicates the Nova version is actually a separate power otherwise it's damage value would actually be on par with Nova Blast when used in Nova form and we'd end up with 2 virtually identical ST blasts in Nova, at least as far as damage is concerned.

Where are you getting the human form base damage values?

  11. All the above being said, I still don’t get how the T2 goes from 30% less base damage than the T3 at level 1 to slightly more at 50, if the 45% bonus for nova is included all the way through (which it should, if the tooltip is meant to reflect the nova values, screwy as that may be).

But it is what it is I guess. Bottom line, T2 is not better than T3, it just looks falsely boosted.

  12. So I checked it and they both scale smoothly from 1 to 50, but not evenly - eye overtakes blast at lvl 18.  Then I thought maybe it had to do with how the nova percentage bonus was applied, but that doesn't seem to make sense either because the final values are only a few points off, and if they are even at 18 they should be quite different by 50.  Some math wiz can maybe explain?

  13. 57 minutes ago, Doomrider said:

If you look at the tooltip for ebon eye in the character creator it should be titled "nova ebon eye" which is a little weird (and misleading) but the damage for that tool tip should only reflect how much damage it does when used in nova form. This isn't a bug. Ebon eye does indeed out damage shadow blast and nova blast ever so slightly, but again only when it's used in nova form. I believe ebon eyes damage base damage at 50 when used in human form is closer to 44.

Then why does the damage start off at 12 vs. 15.7?  If what you're saying is correct, then those should be close, same as the level 50 values.  Maybe they don't apply the nova bonus until level 6?  I'll have to go in and look at that.  But yea that would be really misleading, since if it's "nova eye" it should at least always be "nova eye".

  14. I looked at it in the character creator powers info. The “level 1” base damage for glinting/ebon eye is ~12, while gleaming/shadow blast is ~15.6 (about 30% more). But the level 50 values are ~77 and ~72, respectively.  So, it seems clear that something is off in the scaling. I’m going to post in the bug forum about it.

  15. In the process of looking at powers more critically for some build options, I came to realize that the ST “eye” attacks do more damage than the “blast” attacks, even though the later cost twice as much End and recharge half as fast (for human at least, the nova versions seem to have the same recharge).

Now, I knew that at some point the eye attacks got buffed, but didn’t know by that much, and frankly it doesn’t seem to make sense. Can anyone more knowledgeable about the change explain?  A 10% KB chance doesn’t seem an adequate justification.

  16. I’ve leveled a tri-form WS and human-only PB (multiple times actually) and love them both - to the point where I can barely bring myself to play the other ATs. So, I figured I’d give a human-only WS a shot.

Problem is, I’m having a hard time seeing the “path” for it. I could sort of mirror what I did for my PB (2 ranged, 2 melee, most of the AOEs, shields until LF, etc.), but of course that doesn’t translate directly.

What tips can you guys provide for leveling a human ‘shade?  E.g., what powers to take when, what gets slotting priority, etc.  Btw, my leveling method is DFB to 20 then TFs and other group content to 50, and I can afford any IOs short of a bunch of purples, so take those into consideration fwiw.

I have this on my PB.  You can't really use Mighty while hovering.  You have to be all the way on the ground to activate the power, so although you might be able to trigger the power with hover on, you effectively have to be on the ground to do it.

This is exactly the situation I’m asking about. However, your response is qualified enough that I can’t tell the answer for sure. Could you confirm specifically that in fact it can be triggered with hover on, you just have to be as close to the ground as possible?

    PERMISSION GRANTED 😂

Everyone is entitled to play as they like. I don’t presume to tell anybody how they HAVE to play. I was just pointing out that it may not be an optimal thing to do, since the ultimate purpose wasn’t stated by the OP. As suspected, it’s pretty much a play-style thing in a bi-form build.

    TL;DR, don’t be an ass.

  19. Not sure why you would take it though (maybe if going just dwarf/human)?  Ebon Eye is usable in Nova, and is the highest DPS single target attack while in that form, so that’s the better option between the two. Maybe you want a gap free dwarf attack chain?  With a bit of recharge, that’s pretty easy to do with just the form “attacks” (including taunt if you really want to mash buttons).  If you want to do damage, then either you should pick up Nova or alternate dwarf and human attacks (smite, drain, and gravity well in particular, and of course both mires).

If it’s purely a preference/play style/theme thing though, then by all means go for it. 👍
