My Rad/Rad build, please critique.

Here is my current goal for my Rad/Rad.  I am level 47 now, and am about half way through getting most of the expensive IO's.  Have one of the Sentinel enhancment sets and all the LOTG +recharge.  This is my first attempt since live to make an end game build.

I have  baby one of these at level 29 and I am enjoying the combo so far.  A couple things jumped out at me,

1.  Cosmic Burst 5 slotted? I love this power and think it deserves six

2. Shouldn't aim get at least two slots?

3.  Do we need this much recharge?  It seems really high and we might be able to sacrifice some of the recharge for more defense or health/regen?  What are you shooting for, alternating Atomic blast/ground zero every other spawn?

4. Why stealth, superspeed and invisibility?  Is this a pvp thing?

5. Should fire cages have slots for aoe?  We don't have a rain attack that they will run from so if its a place holder isn't there a more useful one? (I honestly don't know).

 

Now I have some questions for you to help me with, whats the best chain of single target attacks?  Cosmic Burst/Xray/Proton stream?  That feels like what I would want to shoot for is this why your loading up the recharge?  Also I have hover and like the combo of electron haze with a  KB->KD IO and irradiate from over their heads can I combine that with GFS circle at later levels or do I have to be on the ground to execute that?  Is fallout shelter worthy of six slots I thought it was just our status protection?

My complaint would be the lack of fighting pool myself. Not having toughness means you won't be anywhere near cap on lethal and smashing which are the most common damage types. I fully approve of chasing recharge, as that is the key of a good sentinel build IMO. Getting the tier 9 attack up as often as possible is really the best way to actually make sentinels a credible DPS class. Though perhaps you went a bit further than necessary. Once you are at perma-hasten, a few more points that than give minimal return, and cost a lot to chase.

 

I recently finished up an ice/rad sentinel to 50. Being able to lay down blizzard and ice storm is a great way to clear out spawns. However it's a bit annoying since the lshift+rclick can only work on one power. Maybe I should try ctrl+rclick for blizzard. The other think I don't like about the build is that while it doesn't have click status protection, particle shielding is so central to how the set works defensively, that I had it on auto click, which means I had to manually click hasten (which I find annoying).

 

You seem to be chasing defense in the build, which I don't consider all that necessary in a resistance build, especially since you don't really get all that far in the chase. I tend to be a mind to go all in on your strength (which would be resistance in this case). Of course if you can get a lot of defense on top of a resistance build, that's great, but you're not really doing that. Also with no defense debuff resistance, this defense will go away in the face of any debuffing. Also, if chasing defense, not having weave is a pretty serious gap.

This is a bit out of date.  Things changed and streamlined, though I dont play him much any more.  Got to playing my time/fire defender and he does everything this guy can plus supports a team, so I'll see what the changes happen but everytime a play my rad/rad or my lower sentinels they just feel lacking.

I am afraid I agree, I lost interest in the combo in the mid 30s.  The damage is just so lackluster and the single attack chain feels clunky.  The -def is noticeable on a good team but its just not enough to make the primary competitive.  If a high level build like you created cant keep you interested then I feel safe in moving onto a different combo.

 

I do like the radiation secondary but will need to find a different primary to combo it with.
