Got this one too.

Didn't know if that was part of the code that was missing or not so debated on whether or not to report it. I mean, there were literally, hundreds of mission giving contacts back on live and I know some of the code was never recovered so part of the missing pieces is bound to be some contact or another somewhere.

So, maybe Crow's one of the things that got lost? If so, it's a shame. He was a pretty major contact for some of the Gold Side story lines. But, OTOH, Gold Side was never the most popular starting area so I can see him not being a super high priority- particularly just now with everything still getting up and running. lol.

If it is just a bug though and he wasn't lost completely, hope they find a solution to getting him to appear again soon.

I mean, I know Praetoria never had the most popular zones- but, I always thought that having these tiny little corners in the more out-of-the-way zones most folks didn't go through was just part of City's charm. I dunno why but I always love finding the strange out-of-the-way contacts/story lines the most since it always made City seem so much more enormous to me as a result, which probably means that poor old Crow won't be the only missing thing that I'll stumble on over the (hopefully) coming years. lol.

Anyway,TL;DR- yeah, came across this one too and hope it's just a bug and not missing code that was lost during City's rescue.

The Crow problem is a known. No estimated fix time yet.

It's hard to call it a bug exactly, since the way it works is that (often) you kill Crow in a previous story arc before being asked to meet him in a later arc within which he cannot logically exist. My understanding is that it is the live devs who programmed things this way. We have yet to get the resequencizer up and running in order to properly order the arcs. In the mean time, a properly submitted ticket usually finds it's way to one of us in short order and we can help you out a bit.

But of course, the 'obvious' course is to do the story arcs the other way around. Problem is, you have to know to do that before you do that.

Hope that helps. Have a good game.

"No, really. He's a GM. Don't ask me."

Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow. I remember this from live now!!!!

Yeah, there was something about the order things happen in when it first came out too! I just didn't remember it like, at all until you said something because now I actually remember hitting a similar issue back then- probably even with Crow but I honestly couldn't tell you though.  Now that it's been explained and the memory's been jogged though, it didn't massively break anything for me since it was obviously a different story line from the one that I had chosen as my main one (Warden instead of Crusader) so, I'm not gonna bug you folks for a reset or anything then or now.

Translation? Don't totally wig out on these minor annoyances. I mean, I'm sure y'all've got waaay more than enough on your plate already. In fact, thanks for explaining that one for us.

Like I said, I'm sure that there's a list a mile long lurking in these tiny little corners here and there that are still on the back-engineering list- if not in desperate need to be fixed from live. And, since you kind folks are working on this whole thing in your spare time, you can't get to it all just yet- if ever if we're going to be realistic.

Besides, somehow, making a big stink about any of them that don't massively break something for real, seems a little like ungratefully throwing a tantrum about a stain in the carpeting after someone's saved the house from being demolished.  That's why I figured putting something down here would make more sense for me, to continue the analogy-

Tickets are my-ceiling-has-just-caved-in serious- I really, really need help.

Forum is more along the lines of a sticky door- thought ya might wanna know in case it has something to do with something else that you might be already looking into. If not? don't wig too much about it. ;)

Anyway, thanks again to all of you kind folks for all of your hard work (after a day job no less!) getting and keeping this wonderful game going for all of us.  ;D

Hello i am a newer player and this happened to me, i played the original city of heroes 20 years ago for a few hours but that was it,

When i read that rogue would you be a hero eventually i decided to start there , I think i did find at least for me what mission he died on that caused it to break

(me doing the quest in this odd order was completely on accident i had no idea this could happen)

I did mission "smuggle VIP through the tunnels",  on the last bit it says to find the exit and the crow is following me,

i think it left the area before crow could escape causing him to "die"

And i cant go back into the area , just says not possible, and the mission , just says task complete return to contact

(with i think is the crow that i left behind without realizing)

Crow is removed when you do the mission with the 2 Blood Widows where the one asks you to kill Crow if she can't. The other missions with Crow, he chooses to leave you. (Edit: To the best of my knowledge, he can't really be killed in the other missions.)

i am brand new to this game, no idea what missions is 2 blood widows, all i know i was doing   "smuggle VIP through the tunnels", SPECIFACLLY and he disappeared after i left the tunnel when the mission said to find the exit, it just said return to contact with no contact on themap, i decided to do a mission for cole to see it would fix the the after i did  the mission  it said to meat crow, went to the spot still not there, NO idea what the mission "2 Blood Widows" First time hearing about it

Maybe i accidently found a 2nd way to break it?   (once again brand new i have no idea what mission 2 blood widows is and that does NOT sound like anything i did)

i don't think i "killed" him per se, i think it glitched because i left the tunnels before he did so he never got to "escape" with me

Yeah, sounds like you did. I'd say congrats, but it is probably too frustrating for you. So instead I will say my condolences.

There are two ways to break Crow.  @Rudra mentioned one way.  I'm guessing you triggered the second way.  You started playing Calvin Scott's story arc, which takes place chronologically after Crow dies.  So, the game for your character now has Crow as deceased, and you can no longer interact with him as he is invisible to you.  Unfortunately, this is a bug that has been in the game since Going Rogue first launched and has never been fixed.  It will require GM intervention.  When in game, do a /petition and explain that Crow is now dead to you and you can't continue his story arc.

still wrong AGAIN, please read my notes

he disappeared righter AFTER the mission "  "smuggle VIP through the tunnels"

(a mission where the CROW is following me, with the last mission goal beiing find the exist while he was still ALIVE)

As SOON as i left the exit area it said report to contact with NO contact, and the exit door didn't allow me back in ,

And then i finally talked to cole , who's next mission objective was to MEET crow , apparently there are 3 ways to break it now

Yeah, the mission cited for the bug is the very first mission Crow gives the player in his Honor the Fallen arc. Meaning Crow disappears as a contact for some reason in his own arc he gives the player. That is something new for Crow disappearing as an available contact as far as I know.
