Dungpow
I am leveling a Ice/Earth Dom and was hoping I could get some help with the build. As you may or may not know, with Ice/ you have to be in the thick of it so I went with Earth for melee damage. So far it is really fun but a bit of an End Hog. Planning it out, it looks like it will get even more hungry. Below is what I came up with. Any advice or help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance! Coyote
I agree that it's a good pairing, and also that it runs through Endurance pretty fast. Combat Jumping doesn't give such great Defense, I wouldn't spend the slots to slot it up. Sleet is low damage, it also doesn't need enhancing for Damage. I like Force Feedback: +Recharge in both Tremor and Fissure. And I would put the Fiery Orb ATO in Fissure, it should fire pretty often. Seismic Smash is probably your best attack, it deserves 6 slots including both the purple damage proc from Hold and from Melee. Maybe 5xHecatomb and the Hold proc. For Jack Frost, I would go with 6x Expedient Reinforcement to get both Recharge and Ranged Defense.
Dungpow
Nice! Thank you for the feedback. My first attempt was just to get as much Recovery as I could. I did some retooling based on your info and I have this now. Asymptotic
I have a level 50 ice/earth dom and she's a manic beast. She does did have end problems, though. Ironically, I was able to greatly reduce them by adding more recharge. Triggering domination refills your end bar, Once you reach perma-dom, you can refill your end bar every 90s or less. It was built with these goals in mind: See how far I can push FF procs, I was inspired by Myshkin's "Mad Kings Special" Energy blaster builds and I wanted to see how crazy I can get. Maximize recharge. Soft cap smash/lethal defense. Maximize the end reduction on attacks. Some attacks have sub-optimal set bonuses to maximize end discounts. Keep the build moderately cheap. It only has one purple set, and that's unnecessary. You can easily replace the Coercive Persuasion set with Malaise's Illusions. mbre2006
So this build is going to give you a lot. It's a bit expensive but once the investment is achieve you're going to do a lot. Without hasten you are at a recharge of 94 sec (Four secs short of permadom) dom. With hasten you're perma. You have a great damage bonus and kniockdown for days, Good def which will turn into great defense once you activate Unleash Potential. Nearly at cap for smash/lethal. And most importantly your end use is crazy low even with all the toggles on while you have great recovery. Not to mention your mezz duration is almost if not capped so expect long hold times. Coyote
Try this version: 1) Much higher base Defense values 2) Much more damage from the AoE powers... slotting Sudden Acceleration may help with global Recharge, but you still need to do damage 3) Much more damage from Seismic Smash... about 300 up to over 600. Yes, the hold duration is down. And so is the guy who got hit with it. 4) Better total Global Recharge, I believe. 5) Force Feedback procs in the AoEs, allowing for better AoE chaining in addition to doing more AoE damage. Which also helps with more knockdowns/ups. What incarnates should I use with this, Coyote? Cardiac was my first choice since the original poster had it. Does Agility Core Paragon make this build spam worthy? With all the protection in the build I'm considering Ageless. Would I be better off with perhaps Clarion or Barrier? Thanks. Coyote
Oh, I generally consider Ageless, and therefore the Endurance isn't that much of an issue... if you're not going with that, then certainly you'd have to alter the build to get more Endurance management into it. I don't like Clarion for Doms, since they have mez protection... so it's really Barrier or Ageless, and I like what Ageless offers (Recharge/Recovery) more. For Alpha, I don't like Agility because it adds REcharge to powers, which is nice... but then messes with your proc percentage. Nerve or Musculature would be my choice. I went with Coyote's over yours (I downloaded both builds and thought about it for a while) ultimately because his boasted more damage and recharge. If/when I get enough inf/merits to fund another toon/build, I'll consider yours as an alternate. For now however, I'm committed to Coyote's build and I just need to know which incarnates have the best synergy and make the most efficient use of buffs. I'd like to have musculature for the alpha, but I dont know if the damage boost will be worth more than Agility, Cardiac, or even Spiritual. I'd need to get an endurance boost elsewhere like from a hybrid tier 4 power or perhaps Ageless. This is my first dominator since 2012 and I've only been playing it at level 50 for one day far. I don't know if I'll get hit with status effects much without Clarion. There are so many things I just haven't run into yet (level 54 Arachnos/CoS/Malta/Cot). That's why I wanted Coyote to recommend what he'd use with his build. For now, I'll just use my twelve shards to get the first tier Cardiac. I'd be interested in hearing what incarnate powers others in addition to Coyote would recommend for all six incarnate slots as well. Cheers. Coyote
Well, the build has a lot of Recharge and solid defenses, but as you say, partially due to the high Recharge and also because it's not heavily slotted for Recovery, it can drain Endurance fast. So you need to solve it with Incarnates... and I like either Nerve for Musculature for Dominators. Agility is also good if you're not using a lot of procs and that would help a bit with End Recovery. So does Musculature, though neither is enough. This build really needs Cardiac or Ageless, so that kind of determines your choices: If you go Ageless, then you're free to go with Musculature for damage. If you go Cardiac, then you're free to go with something else in the Destiny slot... Rebirth for Regeneration, or Barrier for Defense/Resist. Both are defensive choices, and Cardiac is defensive over Musculature, so the summary is: Offensive version is Musculature/Ageless. This is my choice. Defensive version is Cardiac/Barrier or Rebirth. This is the choice if you're feeling unsafe and willing to sacrifice some damage and controlling for better passive defenses. Lore is really up to preference, and so is Judgment. For Interface and Hybrid, again, there is a question about defense: if you feel that you need more defense, then Melee Hybrid is a good option, and Diamagnetic Interface is good because it does -Regen (offensive) but also -ToHit which is a nice defensive boost. If you want more offense, then the Assault Hybrid is the option and there are -Resist and -MaxHP options in Interface. You could also mix one for offense and one for defense. Frankly, I'd go with Melee Hybrid since I'd rather have a temporary defensive power than a temporary offense power, and I like Diamagnetic since it will help defensively vs normal mobs and offensively vs AVs ,which is the only place where I feel that a lack of offense could hurt... the character should do enough damage for normal mobs, so getting -Regen rather than a DoT or -Resist is fine with me. But these choices are really where your experiences with the character and how you plan to play (team, solo, solo AVs, etc) really mean more. Incarnates are really an end game enhancement but should not be leaned on entirely. it's basically a crutch. And when you play things not 50(+) content what are you going to rely on then? It's cool you wanna rock with his build, but going back to explore lower level content is going to be a challenge when you can't rely on incarnate abilities. In this case I would work on getting hero accolades to help with a bit more with end issues and keep blues on you.

In this case I would work on getting hero accolades to help with a bit more with end issues and keep blues on you. I do mostly 45+ content so I personally don't mind relying on incarnates. Still, it's good to have something that can exemplar as I'm sure many would rather avoid having multiple builds on one character. It's always great to find a versatile build for those who want to enjoy it at any level. With Coyote's build at level 35, I just learned to temper my manic skill mashing a bit in order to conserve endurance. On teams, there are no endurance issues because my mates allow me to work less (than I would if soloing +4x8). I've only played your build on the test server thus far, and even then, only doing solo door missions at PI. I'm going to add yours as my second build and give it the same love I gave Coyote's. Since yours doesn't need help with endurance, I'll try and focus on increasing damage and recharge with incarnates. I'm kind of excited to see how it turns out. Thank you both, mbre2006 and Coyote, as well as the original poster for creating this thread for experienced players to share their knowledge. I'm having a blast with my first dominator since Sunset.
