Night Widow Love

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

So, I know the general consensus is that Forts are superior to NW's. However, I am really digging this build I have made on Test. I didn't want to purple her out but I still wanted to be a viable threat to these baddies. I would love some feedback. I ran a few tests last night and I noticed I was able to run +4/8 without a scratch but it took forever to kill mobs. Also, whenever I faced my fellow Arachnos, I suffered rather horribly even at +3/5 (having no DDR sucks lol). Everything else I've faced so far was great.

Notes: I don't rely on ML for my defense (which is why it's not turned on in this build). It's more of an oh sh*t or team buff button. No hasten also. I tried not to rely on that in this build. I am soft-capped for normal content and I know I could have used more procs but I'm not as good with my Mids-Fu as you good people are. Thanks in advance for the solid feedback!

It's super late where I am but insomnia has better resistance than me right now. I feel like a rarity because i call my NW my main.  Fell in love with the archetype on Live and when HC popped up I jumped on the chance to revive my toon and improve it. I was not disappointed.

I'm also on my phone so I can't post my current build for comparisons but I do see a couple of differences (save for IO choices). Didn't actually need the fighting pool on mine as i managed to make my defense high enough even with meh level (hardly any except psionic. My night widow don't play your mind games). I didn't take the medicine pool either (didn't need it on my build), opting for a patron pool for more offense because my character's theory is the best defense is too many choices in offense (like her shoe closet at her condo in St. Martial).

I feel like i could nitpick choices with defensive slotting but honestly I am just grumpy from fighting insomnia... maybe i should count alts (sheep are so passé)...

Night widows are definitely fun and I wish I enjoyed playing them more. They seems to be getting more interest recently, which is interesting.

You probably don't need fighting - you can reach pretty decent resists with IOs and scaling resistances don't show up in the Hero Planner but are really, really good when they kick in - I can safely tank with my widow.

What are your position defences like?

My NW was actually my first 50 here on HC. I loved Veats since they were first introduced 💪

Yea I agree, I probably could get away without using Tough. I'm soft-capped positionally. Melee: 50%, Ranged and AoE 48% (without ML) This is why I wanted to use the test server to tweak things here and there.

SN: I'm developing a Fort build and using your excellent build as a frame 😄

I was working on leveling a stalker to 50 (for my first lvl 50 villain) when the announcement for VEATs first came out. I put in overtime making sure I got to 50 on that toon so fast. Then I saved a name for a crab spider and once they were released, I tore into leveling that one and loved it. Once I hit 50 I decided to try a widow and liked the sound of night widows so I went with that. Pretty sure I had more fun leveling those 2 than any others I've had so far on both Live and HC (though this electric stalker is giving the crab spider competition... nothing beats my NW, though).

Great times... I was so excited when they were first released. I could never get into Khelds and was thrilled at how my Widow performed. This is why the my Widow here was one of the first toons I rolled and the first I got to 50. It's also the reason why it's taken me so long coming up with a build I was interested in. I didn't want to waste inf in a build that under-performed for one of my fav toons.
