Dark Melee question

Forgive me as it's been a really long time since I tried Dark Melee: if you pick the Soul Noir option for Taunt in the character designer, is it supposed to play a dark blast animation?

Yes, that was an intentional experiment (to give taunts a bit more of an AoE “mocking blow that does no damage but agraviantes“ option instead of a “hey yo mama” taunt.
