Ava_Nova Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) Anyone willing to share or put together a build for Rad/Beam? I'm coming from a Beam/Dev Blaster and while I'm familiar with Beam I'm not familiar with Rad/. Any help or suggestions? Powers to skip? Builds? I've got quite a few billion saved up from playing and want to make this character my next primary so any help would be appreciated. EDIT: Here's what build Ive come up with using some of my experience when I build my Beam/Dev Blaster, please critique! Peacemoon Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Just a quick reply with some thoughts, sorry. With Rad Infection slot for -hit not -def. The -def just helps everyone’s accuracy and the base is usually enough. You can never get enough -hit though! Dark Watcher x4 (leaning towards ones with /end redux) would be my suggestion. You skipped a lot of Rad, which is fine, but I’d recommend EMP Pulse as is a great AoE hold, and does good damage on robots and freakshow. Just watch the endurance crash when used. Speaking of endurance, I can’t see your numbers from my phone but beware the end costs when Rad Toggles are on. I usually slot AM for a mix of recharge and end mod. Don’t rely on level 50 numbers solely to manage end costs or you will have a difficult ride to 50! Retired, October 2022. LiquidBandage Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 (edited) The point of the combo is to slow regen as much as possible. Playing in a group you are going to be in closer to the action with the Brutes/Tanks. You will be able to get in close to chain Aim-SoulDrain-EMPulse-Overcharge on large or troublesome packs, then Dark Consumption to recover endurance ahead of the downtime for EMP. In an efficient team you are basically going to be able to fire off a Radiation Infection & Enervating Field and maybe a Disintegrate/Lancer before mobs are dead. In slightly longer engagements you will have time to chain Disintegrate-LancerShot-PenetratingRay. Rely on the disintegration spread for your "AoE" most of the time as Overcharge usually takes too long to activate. 1: Radiant Aura (add 5 slots) 1: Single Shot (this is sort of a throw away power) 2: AM (5) 4: Radiation Infection (5) - 2 recharge, 2 end reduction, 2 ToHit Debuff 6: Enervating Field (3) - 2 recharge, 2 end reduction 8: Jetpack 10: Disintegrate (5) 12: Lingering Radiation (5) 14: Blaster Drone (5) 16: Aim (2) 18: Drone Barrage / Nano Net 20: Lancer Shot (5) 22: Combat Jumping 24: Teleport Friend 26: Mutation 28: Penetrating Ray(5) 30: Force Barrier 32: EM Pulse (5) 35: Dark Consumption (4) 38: Overcharge (5) 41: Soul Transfer 44: Soul Drain(4) 47: Haste (2) 49: Free Pick Other: Stamina (2) You will want a Spiritual Alpha Incarnate to crank down recharge time. Consider Diamagnetic for your Interface Incarnate also. The Gadgetry powers were added in for a longer term plan to maximize -regen. In the short term consider the Sorcery pool (Spirit Ward, Mystic Flight & Rune of Protection). Spirit Ward is exceptionally useful to precast on a Brute/Tank as it does not incur any aggro and that absorb gives you time to setup your toggles. Edited April 29, 2020 by LiquidBandage
Shocktacular Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) Just curious, how bad is the end crash from EM Pulse? Paragonwiki says it has significant -recovery. Did this get changed when nukes were made crashless? Edited May 13, 2020 by Shocktacular Want more from Praetoria? Check out my level 40+ Praetoria missions in AE! I've got 3 complete arcs so far. Praetorians can get to AE in Pocket D by going through Studio 55.

Did this get changed when nukes were made crashless? If EM pulse hits any mobs you get 15 seconds of 0 recovery. Just for dramatic effect it will give you a stack of this for every mob hit, but it’s still 0 recovery even if you only hit 1! EM pulse still has its crash and as far as I know this is the only crash that remains in the game. On the plus side there is no AE hold in the game that compares in duration. However if you aren’t careful it will kill you. Keep some blue inspirations as back up until your recovery comes back online. Or the Ageless Destiny incarnate power also works to restore your end bar. (Not the +recovery, but upon activation it restores a ton of endurance which does still work). Shocktacular Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) Thanks! I also wanted to ask how a Rad/Beam Defender compares to a Beam/Rad Corruptor. Is the extra -regen from being a defender enough to make up for the Corruptor's extra damage, or vise versa? I have a great character idea that could be either one, but I want to know this before deciding. Edited May 13, 2020 by Shocktacular Want more from Praetoria? The truth is there isn’t a huge difference between Defender and Corrupter, it’s not quite dancing on the head of a pin but it’s not massive. I prefer Defenders because I prefer the bigger buff numbers and you still get a damage boost via vigilance when soloing. You do less damage in a team but that’s a reasonable trade off for the best buffs/debuffs in town! As for the regen numbers, I’m assuming we are talking AV soloing? You would probably be better as a corrupter for that, as a complete package with Scourge damage. Unless you team, in which case you will usually add more value as a Defender. Sorry to be vague. I’m less familiar with BR and Corrupters Retired, October 2022. Fallout Engineer Rad/AR Defender || Peacemoon Empathy/Psi Defender || Svarteir Dark/Dark Controller Everlasting || UK Timezone
