Yet Another Build Help Thread (TA/A)

Hi fellow Defenders! I'm coming to you with some questions/request for feedback as I'm getting my unexpectedly fun TA/A defender into the higher reaches. I'm a noob at level 50 play, only ever getting there once but I'd really like to give this character a push and see how she pans out. That being said, I've been reading a number of threads here on TA/ and TA/A and I'd like some feedback on what I've put together. I'm rather attached to my stealthy little fairy so I'd like to keep Concealment & Flight even if they're hardly optimal.

 

What I don't know muchanything about is Incarnate/post-50 abilities. Is there somewhere that can give a good overview of how they work and what they add to a build?

 

Is there any other feedback that folks have like "no Hasten, wtf noob"?

6 slotting Aim and Tactics are a bit ? for me. It's a lot of investment slotwise. Also not 100% sure slotting Entangling with procs is worth it. An Acc/Mez hami is probably enough there. I know procs in Glue are meh. 

 

You also don't currently have any way of lighting up the Oil Slicks. Blazing will do that and is also your best DPA attack. 

 

Here's a rejig, pulling some of the slots from Entangling, Tactics and dropping the web grenade thing and getting Blazing Arrow instead, along with bolstering any attacks which are a bit low on damage. 

 

I swapped out Performance Shifter from Disruption because if I remember right it will end up giving your Enemies End rather than you (because they're the ones affected by the -End disruption does and Performance Shifter isn't a "Chance to X self" proc. Self is important there.

Taking a closer look at this - that's wonderful feedback. Agreed on freeing up the slots from Tactics. I had thought about igniting the Oil Slick with Apprentice Charm but that's good feedback about having another solid single target attack, plus the really good set bonuses from Thunderstrike.

I would consider moving Defender's Bastion out of Oil Slick. It's autohit and doesn't require (or accept) accuracy, so you could free up a few slots. I think I have it slotted in Blazing Arrow and the heal proc fires pretty often.

Oil Slick has been really confusing on how slot it. It doesn't really do procs very well, does it? My thought was to slot it for -res like Acid Arrow but I'm not so sure that's a good move? I do agree that slotting Bastion into Blazing Arrow makes a lot of sense. Thunderstike is nice but if OSA doesn't do procs well, Bastion seems a waste for a really nice proc.

Okay decided to move some stuff around. Not sure this is better. Maybe Power Up isn't worth chasing? I wasn't really sure if I liked running Tactics on top of all the other toggles, but as a Defender, it's still a good idea, yes?

I've got procs slotted in OSA, but to be honest I've never tested to see how often they go off. Power Boost will buff the -tohit in Flash, the sleep duration in PGA, the holds in Ice and EMP, and the -defense in Acid and OSA. Because PGA, OSA and EMP summon pseudo pets, I suspect you'll only get the 15 second duration. You probably get the most value using it with Flash, but I'm not sure it's worth the power pick.

Pretty much. Won't be an amazing proc rate because patch sadly, cos it can take a lot.

 

-Def ones should try and roll when you drop the patch.

 

Either way it's a patch so the chances to proc won't be great. I usually just go full Artillery for the ranged Def.
