  • every bonus aura equipped
  • last but not least: cheap build! You just need the 2 ATO, no purples

 

Mid's not updated yet, the 2 upgrades are mules for +7.5% HP UG and +recovery from miracle.

About 9 secs of downtime for Soul Extraction, 6 secs with T4 Ageless.

Couple changes I recommend are:

 

-Swap the slotting between Dark Embrace and Tough. DE provides more +dam res to S/L/N/T than Tough. The larger buff from a full set of Gladiator's Armor will improve stats.


-Swap the Unbreakable Guard +7.5% max HP with Steadfast +3% def. Steadfast's +dam res will help help pet stats and your S/L res is already capped at 75%, so the +res portion is doing nothing for the MM. 


-If you're willing to use boosters on a couple of the Reactive Armor IOs, S/L will still be capped at +75% without the Red Fortune bonuses in Shadow Fall, Maneuvers and Weave.


-If you're willing to boost a +recharge and Expedient Reinforcements IOs to +5 in Soul Extraction, a hold damage proc can be added instead of the 2nd +rech IO. Soul Extraction will be about 8.6s off perma but their damage output will increase by a good amount.


-Swap the Miracle unique in Dark Empowerment for the Panacea unique in Health. The +end gain will average out to be the same, but pets probably need the random heal more than the MM.


All in all, fantastic build! Though it hurts me to see no Howling Twilight. I love that power.

No, I haven't even respec my own Necro/Dark build yet. Not until Mids' is updated with the MM changes. Just remember for Necro, first upgrade can slot damage resist IOs, second upgrade can slot heal IOs, and Soul Extraction can slot pet, hold and -tohit debuff IOs. Some of the heal unique IOs currently work on pets when slotted into the second upgrade. Numina's, Miracle, Panacea and I think Regenerative Tissue. Can pick up a lot of E/N def by three slotting Thunderstrike into the MM's personal attacks, or some +6.25% recharge if four slotting Cloud Senses sets.

I thought you were trolling our beloved CoH forums with that build!   I apologize.

 

Please read this portion of the Oct. 18, 2022 patch notes to get you up to speed with the current Necro/Dark workings.

 

Necromancy

Dark Blast, Gloom, Life Drain

  • These powers now have a 70% chance to summon a Spectral Minion to your side!
  • These Specters are temporary, lasting a maximum of 90 seconds as their health fades away by the second.
  • These Specters cannot be healed or regenerate, but have decent resistance to all damage and defense against AoE attacks.
  • These Specters cannot be commanded or upgraded, but slotting your personal attacks will improve their attack stats.
  • Each attack can only summon one Specter, for a maximum of 3 if all attacks are used.

Henchmen (general)

  • Powers have been adjusted for area and duration.

Zombie Horde

  • Can no longer be slotted with heal enhancements or sets.

Grave Knights

  • Can no longer be slotted with heal enhancements or sets.

Lich

  • Can no longer be slotted with heal enhancements or sets.

Enchant Undead

  • Henchmen passive resistances have been moved to this upgrade.
  • Enhant Undead now accepts Resistance sets and enhancements.
  • Lich's Petrifying Gaze has been moved to this upgrade, no longer grants Life Drain to the Lich.
  • Resistances now grant mag 1 Hold and Immobilize protection, as well as 50% resistance to Stun/Hold/Immobilize.

Dark Empowerment

  • Now accepts Healing sets and enhancements.
  • Lich's Life Drain have been moved to this upgrade, no longer grants Petrifying Gaze to the Lich.
  • Slotting this power with heal enhancements will enhance Life Drain's heal.
  • Dark Empowerment range increased from 30' to 50'.
  • Grants a 15% max HP (half enhanceable) to all henchmen.

Soul Extraction

  • Recharge lowered form 600s to 150s.
  • End cost lowered from 30 to 15.
  • Only works on active Henchmen, not Specters.
  • Will extract the soul from each Henchman for 30s before the Souls vanish.
  • The extracted souls are still linked to their bodily hosts, if the host of a soul is defeated, the soul will also be defeated.

Extracted Souls

  • No longer use Phase Shift
  • Now have 13% positional defenses, not enhanceable.

@PLVRIZR The build's end rec/use ratio is abysmal. Toggles are burning endurance faster than it can recover. Toggles will constantly drop, there will be huge gaps where powers can't be used due to lack of end. Theft of Essence proc in Twilight Grasp is a must on this build. Miracle unique in Health. Musculature Radial Alpha for the end bump. Take Ageless Destiny, but if not, build for end recovery/reduction or sacrifice toggles.


Necro/Dark is a fantastic pairing even without the latest patch. It will still play very well if all the changes were ignored, but Soul Extraction is such a huge improvement that it shouldn't be. SE does a considerable amount of damage and adds a lot of mitigation with holds and -tohit debuffs. Overwhelming can be slotted so SE pets will knockdown targets with every attack. Also SE pets gaining aggro will take pressure off the regular pets, teammates and you.


I think it would be worthwhile to make a list of priorities for the build. Mandatory IO uniques. What you want the defense, resistances, recovery, recharge, accuracy, damage etc to be at. Put a number to each and aim to build for those numbers. Also remember to add in KB protection.

 

Also there's a level 50 Thugs/Dark MM listed in your signature. How's that build? They should build pretty similar.

Darkest Night was toggled on.  With that off, it's right at even:

Having said that, I could drop TI, because I wasn't in much danger and whoops, I did miss ToE, tks for the reminder.

 

This toon was languishing as a (predominately) SO build, but I dusted him off, with the changes.  The build, as posted, did fine in a couple S/L farms and I solo ran Citadel at +1/4, just to see how it went (and for the WST merit bonus).  Never had end problems, once the pets were spawned and buffed.

 

Note:  I only use Gloom and HT, with TG as needed...and there were a couple leadership toggles on Citadel, which were not available.  Even when fighting Vandal and DN running, I didn't run out of end.

A *whole* lot of fun.  Much "tankier" than the Necro and significantly different slotting.  Went a bit "off the reservation", considering the standard/accepted build patterns, but again, building for leveling and concepts are more important to me, than the "ultra max" possibilities.

Yes, I've read the patch notes.  Read my sig.  I mostly tank.  I took a pre-page 5 example and reworked it.  I like to keep the ATO sets together, rather than break them up, even though certain targets are more easily attainable.  I also found spots for Call to Arms (pet defense) and the entire Expedient Reinforcement set.  

 

Is it worth having all three attacks, for three Spectrals?  If so, how would you slot them?

 

What better slotting would you suggest for EU and DE?

Dark Blast, Gloom, Life Drain    Yes, have all 3 attacks.  Now, you don't have to slot any of 'em.   Just clicking them will give you the 70% chance to spawn the Specters.   But, just slotting the given enhancement slot with a +5 ACC IO will bring ya to 53% ACC, which is good enough for the Specters.  What these pets are good for, no..., great for is tanking a target.  They have a Taunt affect on the target.  Its a powerful Taunt that lasts 6 seconds.

 

The other line of thinking is that since your're going to be spending the time clicking the 3 attacks, why not place some meaningful enhancements in them?

 

This choice is yours my friend.
