With the new GPU, I did driver clean up and full install.

Game now freezes when settings are maxed.

Any thoughts at identifying the exact cause?

What is your setup? OS, Ram, CPU please.

I work from home and as time has permitted between tasks, have been trying different settings.

So far it has only been the Shadow Settings that have caused the game client to freeze.

I've been trying out other games as well, more demanding ones, to see how things go and so far its just COx having issues. New Tech new Drivers this kind of thing is expected.

Not that it will necessarily help, for when I post on the AMD forums, can someone remind me which API the COH/COV game engine uses? No doubt the code in the driver is different for the 6900xt as compared to the 7900xtx.

I've read a couple of reports of the latest AMD MLIR graphics driver hanging Homecoming and crashing Rebirth.  The same reports indicate that the latest non-MLIR AMD graphics driver is fine.

In any case, City of Heroes uses an old version of OpenGL.

Thank you, do you happen to know what exact version of OGL?

There used to be a command line option for forcing the game into DX9, is that still functional? Not that it worked well, but it might help with testing.
