That is not a selling point

 

It's not like a troller pet which can largely be trusted.

 

It's a wild card that can kill the player.

It's not powerful enough to be a T8 I agree, but my flytrap has killed me several times. "No Fluffy, not that mob!!!!"

That's my one objection besides it not being terribly potent. It has a tendency to run ahead and aggro a mob or two you're not ready for, and it's not controllable like most pets. Almost every session in which I decide to use it, I will pause to rest or recon or something, and Lil Blue Cloud shoots its mouth off and I'm hip-deep in trouble.

I play a lot of controllers and I find the pets to be generally very well behaved; they are definitely worth their picks. I think VS needs considerable reworking to make it viable as a pick.
