Looking for a bit of help with Bots/Traps build

I have been gone for some time. But I came back and am back on my character. My problem. I don't know the build anymore. Currently lvl 31, and honestly the dungeon I just did was easy mode at +2 players.

My big question is should I be on the look out for any sets at this level? Or is it just 'get to max then worry about that'?

Any help or advice one can offer is greatly appreciated.

I can post a build later. As far as enhancement 'sets' go, there are some only a few pieces that were not yet included in my final build:

  • Catalyzed pieces (ATO, Winter)
  • Very Rare pieces
  • Hami-O
  • Boosted lvl 50 pieces (mostly PVP and IOs)

IIRC most of my enhancement pieces are attuned and can be slotted by level 31.

Obviously there are many more slots to get between 31 and 50.

Once an MM has all henchmen, I generally turn up the spawn size.

I recommend slotting mostly what you can while leveling. Don't need to go for full sets, just try to get decent stats like acc, dam and end redux for pets. Add in +recharge for non-pet powers. IO's to aim for while getting to 50 are:

Call to Arms +def - slottable at lvl 7.
Panacea proc - slottable at lvl 7.
Gladiator's Armor +def - slottable at lvl 7.
Steadfast Protection +def - slottable at lvl 7.
Shield Wall +res - slottable at lvl 7.
Achilles' Hell -res - is slottable at lvl 10.
Edict of the Master +def - slottable at lvl 12.
Miracle +rec - slottable at lvl 17.
Reactive Defense +res - slottable at lvl 17.
Annihilation -res - slottable at lvl 17.
Performance Shifter proc - slottable at lvl 18.
Sovereign Right +res - slottable at lvl 22.
Expedient Reinforcements - slottable at lvl 27.
Numina's +reg/rec - slottable at lvl 27.

I believe the MM ATOs and Overwhelming KD proc are slottable at lvl 10, but not 100% sure.

I'm not saying these IOs are must-haves at the listed level. They will just help make the ride smoother. They provide a lot of survivability/resources at lower levels for MM and pets. The sooner they're equipped, the better.

I wouldn't focus on %-Res slotting early in a build. Accuracy and Damage are better for the henchmen, and Accuracy Endurance for the MM.

As a complete sidebar: Some enhancements become able to be slotted at -3 levels below their set level, but only if they are not attuned and also at their lowest level. I'm not referring to Hami-Os, Very Rare pieces or Superior versions. I'm also not talking about them providing set bonuses down to -3 below their lowest level when exemplared.

I happened to notice this on a character I had planned on using a combination of attuned PVP pieces and some level 10 crafted PVP pieces. From memory: I could slot the level 10 pieces at level 7, but I couldn't slot the attuned pieces until level 10. I also want to say that this wasn't true of every PVP set. It's not like I really needed them for levels 7-9, so I didn't pay it much heed.

At level 31, it's generally not necessary to be too concerned about obtaining specific sets or gear. The gear you acquire during the leveling process is usually meant to provide incremental upgrades as you progress through the content.

Bots traps is pretty simple to build tbh. 5 slot the second and third attacks in the primary, 6 slot pets, 5-6 slot repair bot, 3-4 slot FFgen, five slot trip mine, throw LOTG everywhere you can fit including in the protector bots, frankenslot superior pet sets to get 3 10% global recharge bonuses, slot two purple sets into epic powers for the final 2 10% recharge bonuses, perma hasten, and its good to go. The real keys are just maximize defense, fit the two pet defense uniques in the build somewhere, and pound recharge and endurance recovery to the exclusion of literally anything else in set bonuses so your traps recharge in like 25 seconds.

Because of the summonable nature of FFgen (seriously its the single best defensive power in the entire game) and the fact that caltrops, web grenade, even acid mortar can all completely do their jobs on one or two slots if you need gives you insane slotting flexibility. You can focus your build where you want. Proc out caltrops and bonfire from heat mastery, or take mu and electric fences your way through later content. Or slot out trip mine and just drop mines everywhere you can all the time for extra aoe damage and fun watching minions get launched away from you. The only must take pool is speed for Hasten, other than that you can do whatever you want. You can go fighting and presence pool for cross punch, tough and hasten, and taunt and face tank your way through shit. You can pick utility powers and have extra random buffs and heals. You can take medicine pool up to field medic for the instant cast single target heal, five slot that, and realize hey medicine pool can like barely keep the tank alive when the healer already bit the dust and top off bots every few seconds. You can take multiple travel powers for style and not compromise anything about your core build and ability to melt level 54 avs.

The worlds your oyster. Your laser blasted poisoned acid doused stunned flamethrowered regen-less oyster.
