Hello - I was wondering if there was a possibly to have a feature to select other players and filter their chat into a separate chat window.

On the RP servers there can sometimes be multiple conversations being had by different groups within a small area which can quickly fill chat. Often times it can be difficult to keep track of your immediate groups conversation, especially if you look away for a moment. I thought it might be useful if we were able to have a right click option on a players name to "highlight" which would pull it into an entirely separate chat window of its own once selected to help filter things out a bit and make the conversations easier to follow.

By having this pulled into a new window it would still allow you to see the entire local chat happening around you while also still able to follow your immediate groups conversation easily. If a new player walked up and joined the conversation - you could simply right click > highlight and it would now include that players dialog as well into this filtered chat window.

Make a new chat tab, have everyone be on a team with you, and have team chat be the only chat in that new chat tab.

yea but wouldnt that require manual interaction from all parties then to join?... I just think it would be easier to allow people to filter down chat at their own discretion on the fly. Also wouldnt "team chat" then be non "public"? This kind of takes away an element from using the Local chat in RP settings.

The only manual interaction you need is for the other players to join your team. Which is far simpler than trying to create code to let players somehow filter out other players in chat without using ignore. If however, you prefer to not deal with a team for your RP? Then you can still already filter out other chat in the area. Add the other players you don't want to hear to your ignore list. Then remove them when you are done. Filter already present.

Alternatively you can also create a custom chat channel for your immediate group to use, so it's a 1 time join if you RP with typically the same group of people at set sessions or such.

Or you could use an SG or a coalition chat as well.
