I know this could be better, just not sure how. I am doing a vampire theme (Water colored to red, dark, stealth, flight, and mind control) and like the power sets, but I feel like the defenses may be severely hampered. Not very experienced with building a toon, so let me know where I messed and and where I can go from here. Thanks

I just rebuilt my Dark Dark Corr.  Which in theory is more vulnerable than your Water Dark. Due to Dark Blast having a PBAoE.  Water is all ranged.  When I rebuilt him I focused on Accuracy and Recharge.  He ended up with 15-20% defenses across the board.  So… not spectacular.  And Dark uses a lot if to hit debuffs.
 

 Basically what I like about Corr and keeps pulling me back from Blasters is they are incredibly tactical.  I look at what the team is facing.
 

1) is the team racing in, discussing tactics, or buffing up?

 

1a) I join in the activity. If racing in I may throw a AoE stun and then Nuke.  Or I may hang back and debuff first. Depends. 

 

2) If the team is not racing in I decide whether or not to wait for the team to pull their thumb outta wherever or just tank it myself. Eat a med purple, stun, soul drain, nuke, tar patch, hop out, fear cone, more cones, debuff etc.  

 

Really every fight is a chess game as a Corr.  Deciding which powers you want to go with and which way to go about it.  A Blaster just blasts.  
 

So how much defense/armor do you need?   Depends on how you play.  I preferred investing in a lot of global recharge so my big powers are up and my little powers are a machine gun.

Thanks for the feedback, guess will play as it for a while and see if I am really lacking or just have hazy expectations from playing other ATs.

Oh you can be so FRAGGIN NASTY with Water/Dark Corruptors. You can be into Ranged Soft-Cap (assuming attuned enhancements) by the mid-game TF's like KHTF, Citadel, or Manticore and then leverage that defense by staying out of enemy range with [Tar Patch] and [Whirlpool]

 

You could also hit soft-caps to S/L/E/N in that same range (again assuming attuned enhancements) with [Darkest Night], while being really close to F/C softcaps. 

 

If you kick things up a notch and just +5 the daylights out of all of the enhancement sets you'd still be a blitz of hyper active debuffing destruction and likely would just buzzsaw through opponents.

 

At the top end if you go Ice Mastery you can pick up a second build-up, and a second pet, while pushing a 93% recharge boost. Toss in Agility Radial and you'd be straight into S/L/E/N/R soft-caps without having to rely on Debuffs while picking up a sub~40s recharge on [Geyser]. Oh, and going Experimentation gives you a teleport in [Jaunt] so you can be an absolute prat during the Anti-Matter fights in ITrials, while picking up [Corrosive Vial] for that extra special DOT denial patch. Great for Ship Raids.

If you can't think of a way to use the Ice Mastery as a Red Tinted Blood Mastery and feel you absolutely have to play up the Psychic warfare there's a couple options there. Soul Mastery allows you to keep most of the bonus's without changing too much. Granted you lose the S/L defense, but you do retain the E/N/R defense going that way, and potentially a second pet.

Now if you're absolutely set on Flight, Stealth, and Psionic Mastery, that's not a total write-off. [Dominate] is still very useful in Ship Raids for helping stack another hold on Rikti Derp Ship

 

[Mind Over Body] gets you to [World of Confusion] which is plausibly more in line with a vampiric role play. At the top end you're still in E/N/R ranged soft cap with Agility Radial, but now you're only going to hit those targets leveraging [Darkest Night] at lower levels. Still very plausible as [Tar Patch] and [Whirlpool] would help you keep your distance:
